Bamboo Spark with Sleeve $39.99 @ ALDI Springvale/Ringwood VIC

90

Saw this at Aldi Springvale Vic this morning. This is listed as $99 at Wacom website. Aldi had this on sale for $89 a while back. Not sure if this is store specific. It use A5 paper ( normal paper is fine). The ink is a normal ink but need the pen itself to work. Comes with two ink refills. Now can do OCR.

    Anyone with experience using these?

Ease of searching text post ocr conversion? Proprietary software vs compatibility with other note taking software?

(I can probably research this, but asking if anyone has personal experience)

    • Online account (for syncing etc) had not been working. When I asked about them a few months ago, I was told to wait for the update in July. Don't waste your money on this, very little value.

      • Online account works for me this morning….. I created anew account.

        • When I go to this address https://inkspace.wacom.com/ all I get is this:

"The Inkspace web portal is currently offline

We are working to give you an even better and faster Inkspace experience. To work towards this, the Inkspace web portal is offline for maintenance. You will not be able to access your content through the Inkspace web portal until after July 31st.

Your synced ink content and unlocked Inkspace features will remain accessible through the Wacom Inkspace app and the Bamboo Paper app.

You will have access to your content through the Inkspace web portal again after July 31st. We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause. Thank you for your patience and understanding.

If you have any questions, please contact us."

          @notoriousft:
I saw that too but when I created a new account via the app, it let me open the account and sync bamboo spark content to the app. The server must be working internally as I can assess the sync doc with my other devices. But it won't let you access the sync doc via a web browser yet.

    • I just played around with it today, on the iPad, text can be exported to notepad, Evernote etc. It uses its own app to do OCR or export as PDF etc. it can store up to 100 pages in the devices itself. All doc are synced to the cloud (need a free Wacom account)

      • Pulled the trigger. Now to figure out how to ocr…

  • Same price in Ringwood (Vic), been this price for a few weeks now. Annoyingly the online account is kinda required to do anything useful. But it seems like a easy way to draw sketches on the go.

  • I am new to this as well but this is my use case scenario. I often go to continuing education lectures, jots down a few take-home messages on a piece of paper, then I often loose or can't find it later on. With this device, it sync to my phone and when I want to look things up, it is in the app. One can argue that why can't i just type the note into my phone/tablet in the first place, however I find writing on actual paper more convenience and faster…..

  • How many did they have in stock at either store? Keen on picking one up for myself.

    • I did not ask.

      • You purchased from the Springvale store and did not see how many they had in stock?

        • They got mine from the display cabinet (only one), but last time they store them in the drawer. A few months ago I wanted to buy one, they did not even display them. When asked, they pull them from under the counter (multiple units), I did not buy at that time because they did not want to price match other Aldi store ( I was willing to pay $65 (?) but they want to charge me $89, the manager were rude and basically said take it or leave it… So I did not buy then )

  • Pulled the trigger. Now to figure out how to ocr…

    • After you sync your doc to the app, click on the page you want to do OCR. Touch the icon/symbol at the bottom left hand side of the screen, this will bring afew options, one of which is ink to OCR.
