Credit card reward programs bonus point offers

Hey OzBargainers.

Just a query to avoid a bit of potential backlash. Would it be considered a "bargain" to point out if there are particularly attractive bonus points being available from a particular retailer? For example, the company I work for has partnered with CommBank Awards to offer 10 bonus points per $1 spent, which is a great offering if you have a commbank awards member, but I didn't want to upset the greater masses by posting it as a rep post and having people comment negative things about it. Any advice would be appreciated.

Cheers,
Dan

Post it and let the ferals decide.

  • Personally, I am interested in what you're offering.

I think you can post it but you would need to declare your association and honestly I think you will be lucky to get more than 3 votes for this deal. 10 CBA award points is worth about $0.07 so it's not even 7% off really. Not to mention there's only a very small percentage of OzBargainers who will have a card with CBA awards.

    • That was sort of my thinking. I will put my hand up straight away to say that I don't know much about reward programs etc not having a rewards card, so wasn't sure if it was an a sensible thing to post or not. The packs etc are already really good value, so the attraction of bonus points might have been a good thing to promote. Thanks for the feedback though

If there's a good pack that is a legitimately good deal you'd have better luck posting that pack as a deal on it's own and then mention that there's also bonus points for CBA awards customers.

        • There lies the problem, we aren't posting the packs as store rep anymore due to a few people picking them apart and muddying the waters. So I might just leave it be for now and if a customer decides to post a deal in the future, I'll suggest an inclusion of the bonus points after the fact.

@Dboc1987: This is OzBargain the community will critique and pick apart every deal posted. That's how we collectively identify what are legitimately good deals and filter out the spam.

I have posted deals that are cheaper than previous deals but only fetch 20% of the votes. For example at $26 this item fetched 48+ votes and yet when I posted it at $23.95 it only got 11+ votes.
