  • Will there be a sale on controllers OP? I believe the USA has them for $39USD for the PlayStation sale.

  • Can PSVR work with TLOU MP mode?

    • It doesn't have VR support, no, but you can view it in 'cinematic mode'

SONY VS MICROSOFT VS NINTENDO STRATEGY
    @E3

SONY ANNOUNCES NEW PORTABLE CONSOLE that has PS4 power and compatible with PS VR new portable headset (kills Switch)
SONY ANNOUNCES PS4 NEW LINE OF AAA GAMES (kills Xbox line of games)
SONY ANNOUNCES the preparation of revealing PS5 next year at the end of the session (creates ongoing momentum for the year 2017/2018 and kills Xbox Scorpio before it releases)

    After E3
Sony slashes price on the PS4 Pro….this when Microsoft is about to release Xbox Scorpio ….

    Its the art of war…….

Why don't you understand investing in SONY platform for a customer is more expensive. There is nothing exclusive and elusive to pay more for Sony PlayStation

    • As gamers we should hope that sort of thing doesn't happen.

  • Considering I didn't really want any other games from Target besides Horizon I can deal with paying a bit more for it. I don't resell games and at that price for digital I'm okay with it. Otherwise it's like paying an extra $6 for shipping one game..no thanks. Plus I expect the stock levels of these games to be lower at Target..At least digital doesn't exactly run out.

  • That's good stuff, I never renewed my subscription to PS+ when it expired 9 months ago. I've had a ps4 for 2 years, but didn't use it as often as I should have (essentially copied my ps3 usage, once every couple of weeks or once every 2-3 months). When I got my Xbox One console last year, it led to me using the ps4 even less (turned it on for the first time this year just 2 weeks ago!). I did want to re-subscribe but only if any particular free game enticed me to do so. When I found out Life is Strange was one of the free games, it made the decision for me :D (awesome game, got it for the Xbox back in April……. I did get the physical version on ps4 last month…… because it came with the cd soundtrack). So I was going to subscribe by the end of the month, purely so I could snag a digital version of the game.

The fact that the deals are coming through thick and fast is a good thing. For the Xbox owners that may need to renew their gold subscription, I suggest holding out until later on in the month. Over the past few years Big W have sold 12 month gold subscriptions at a discount beginning around the time the school holidays start.

    • Same - life and work now mean my uni/high school days of mass playing are far and few between. Worried buying these annual memberships will be wasted haha. but they are cheap! I think overwatch requires it. and i bought evolve like a year ago but still haven't even logged in to play haha. so my worry is mass buying and not using. still $49 for 12 months is on a per month basis like $4…..

what is 'life is strange'? is it still free and worth trying/playing?

  • Is the PS4 worth it if I have a Wii U and a fairly decent gaming rig? I also have a switch for streaming from my PC to my TV. I'm really just looking at the exclusives because I know I can probably get most cross-platform games cheaper on steam.

    • Yes I definitely recommend it for the exclusives. I have a wiiU,XboxOne and a decent rig of a PC. The exclusives are well worth it as well as the jrpgs and I prefer my fighting games on the PS4 due to the feel of the controller.

    • I'm primarily pc gamer, 980Ti, etc.. But I got ps4 Pro for exclusives, there is a considerable amount of stellar PS4 exclusives that more than warrant the purchase.

    • Thanks guys, gonna pick up a pro at jb for 539 today :)

    • I got it for exclusives too. Thankfully there's a big enough catalog that it's worth it just for that.

Everything multiplat I play on PC.

  • Thanks for this. Enjoying my PS4 with HZD bundle that's been up for a while. Loving the system and was just about to get the PS+ sub. Will head over the weekend and grab it :D

  • Dumb question, has anyone got a link for the PS Plus card? I can't seem to find it anywhere.

    • Sale starts tomorrow so there shouldn't be a link yet

I will not buy any console until E3 kicks off next week.

Pachter's prediction on what will happen next week:

Project Scorpio to be priced at $399.
PS4 Pro to drop to $249 and standard PS4 to drop to $199 (but that might be for a limited time period - depends on Scorpio's price).

    • I think these are US prices….

      • Yes. I am hoping PS4 Pro will be reduced to below 450AUD after E3.

      • -2

definitely not usd prices, just checked the us version and the prices are way cheaper. plus PSVR + Camera + Worlds at 529usd = 700 AUD aint very cheap at all, in fact it would be cheaper if you brought it all right now than 700aud

  • is it a good time to buy Ps4 Slim 500Gb?

    • Not if you want a little bit of future proofing. If the price difference is $100-150 I would get the Pro.

When the Pro got announced, people with PS4's were pissed that there's a console out there that can play the games better than theirs can. That they no longer had the best experience possible.

Since you don't have a PS4 yet, you get to avoid that situation by skipping the PS4 and getting the Pro instead.

      • Have the ps4 i think it's stupid how it isn't really a 'ps5' or new console, just a 'better' one released. Way to alienate same console base (ps4 games) between those with better graphics, and those with lesser. Not the end of the world, but I think the timing and how quickly a pro came out just feels alot different to the 'slim' ps2 versions that came out back then. They didn't have enhanced gameplay/graphics at least.

        • Thing is, since 2013, 4K TVs have become a lot more prevalent. If you walk into HN or JB all the TVs you see on display are 4K and they've gotten cheaper. If you want 1080p, they're in a dingy corner and you're left with brands like TCL.

The PS4 will look crap on 4K TV because it doesn't support the resolution. So they needed a mid cycle refresh because for all we know, PS5 might not be until 2020 and that's too long to stick with a 1080p console.

As long as your old PS4 can still play all the new games, I don't see any harm in a PS4 Pro existing. It doesn't change your ability to continue playing upcoming PS4 games the same way as you would if Pro never existed.

        • @lostn:

yeah, true. it doesn't mean you missed out on anything if you look at it that way (The ps4 pro being a solution for those with a new tv that would output a crappy image using an old ps4). I guess it depends which way your looking at it. If more of that they output something new and left behind initial buyers, then it's sucky. But your reason makes sense from that pov.

  • Be cautious buying the software sales on the PS Store. They will not do refunds, ever. Their refund/return policy is non-existent when compared with Steam and a retailer (EBGames). Have spent over $7,000 on the PS Store since 2007 but will never buy there again due to their fundamentally broken refund policy. Keep your hard copies!

    • out of interest how far has $7000 gotten you?? sounds like a crapton at first glance but i guess that's like 10 games a year since 2007?

      • jeezus $7,000. I can't imagine it either.

what i hate is digital - can't resell. although with all this DLC 'one time use' it renders alot of packaged games incomplete when reselling. which is pretty annoying/stupid from a gamer pov, great for money making companies.

      • Some game with egregious microtransactions for cosmetics and boosts can run you up hundreds on its own. Some even thousands if you're on mobile.

      • Yeah, it's really not many games in the big scheme of things. I used to buy most of my games on PSStore cause you get 'two copies' but not anymore.

  • Tough decisions. Wanted to be 100% digital on my PS4 Pro. HZD may not be one I would keep for ever but maybe good to sell with the console one day. $6 extra for digital. May get it for $39 instead. Sell it when digital becomes even cheaper.

  • guys is this worth getting. I only want to play Don Bradman Cricket and maybe the new COD. Should i get the 1TB PS4 pro or just the little PS4 500GB? Is the PS4 PRO that far beyond good and worth investing in? Faster load times etc?

Note: i have researched online, but i take your opinions over the silly interwebs, my ozbargain fam (fist pump)

    • +1

I have the pro only cause i got it $200 less with a code from myrepublic.

honestly it isn't worth extra imo it wont load faster as it still uses a slow 5400 rpm hard drive.

      • interesting. Sounds to me like the PS4 Pro is a marketing b/s. Sure it's maybe clearer in graphics clarity but by a long way? I suspect not!

    • +1

Hi enslave. I love my pro, but I play a lot of 4K games and they look insane. 100% recommended.
HOWEVER if you're only playing cricket and COD just go the normal one for sure.

      • +1

thanks brother. Yeah i ended up grabbing the 500GB in white - i love my cricket, baseball, GTAV etc so extreme graphics to me arent worth the $500+ price tag YET….maybe upgrade to the PRO in a few years time…

        thanks again mate!

  • Was about to run out of PS Plus subscription. Winning

    • I ran out last Friday and resubscribed. Losing.

I'll probably grab one of these and stack it. That's if this deal doesn't get ozbargained and people hoard them

  • PlayStation Plus for 12 months (digital delivery) is only $34.27 at JB right now!

    https://www.jbhifi.com.au/games-consoles/platforms/playstati…

  • Not sure this is real. In Big W now and the lady has never heard of it….

    • Yeh, I can't find on site.

      • +1

Yeah I noticed that too. Got it in-store. But they were very hesitant. They had to go out back and ask the manager….

  • These prices for games arent up yet?

  • +1

I just got back from BigW. They had a sign up for the playstation plus being $49 and when it scanned it was $49 but they wouldnt sell it to me because their system was saying that it was invalid. Manager confirmed that they needed to contact the sony rep to sort it out and would take down signs until they have. Asked me to come back tomorrow.

    • Had a similar experience and it was the main reason why I took the morning off. I picked up some cheap slippers (tiled floor plus winter = too cold for the toes!) as my secondary reason for going there so all was not lost.

  • Would price of 500 gb console be lower in this month?
