Decent monitor at decent price.

Cheapest its been from what I've seen.

Awesome! Off to empty the entire store!

  • don't need it buy am buying one

    • lol. I regret posting before i went to my local HN

Eh I wouldn't buy FHD anymore. Maybe at $50 each for a multi monitor setup otherwise go for a higher res and pay a bit more..

    • Can you expand for someone that has no ideas about monitors?

I think nubzy means you are better of getting a UHD. Monitor. I.e 25601440 vs 19201080p as you can fit more on the one screen.

But it depends what you are using the monitor for. I need to dual screen for work. If I didn't already have one monitor I may be better off getting a bigger UHD monitor. But as I have a FHD monitor already I thought I would just get a second FHD monitor.

        Hopefully that makes sense.

        • nitpicking, 1440p is QHD.

Its odd how most monitors have fewer pixels than a good phone or iPad, especially with UHD TVs so cheap now.

But a QHD monitor will cost twice this. Unless you can find a refurb, or get from overseas on ebay, no warranty.

      • After seeing QHD/4K monitors the difference is huge. Text and pictures are much sharper and you can fit more on the screen which is great for productivity. I have a 22" 1680x1050 and 24" 1920x1080 monitor right now, both over 7 years old and I am desperate for an upgrade. I think 4K TV has spoiled me.

User 'nubzy' is projecting their elitist desires on you, clouding your judgment on a (presumably?) perfectly fine monitor to be used at normal desktop distances doing normal things - and priced sanely. Being an IPS display is better than being a TN display, in most metrics. User 'nubzy' is probably a computing enthusiast or monitor/display enthusiast, so some of that resolution elitism is to be expected.

I can neither afford the card to power 1440p monitors or the monitors themselves. FHD will do for now and IPS looks good usually.

lol I have a laptop with integrated graphics, but I work with text and images alot so the increase in resolution is appreciated.

  • Refresh rate only goes up to 75hz
    I'm looking for a 144hz monitor
    Otherwise good deal

    • You won't find any 144Hz at this price lol

      • You wont find any 1080p IPS with high refresh at all. They don't make them.

ASUS PG279Q ROG Swift 27in 165Hz G-Sync IPS Gaming Monitor?

        • +2

          That one's 1440p.

          @pizzip:

:O But there is a higher res available offering 144Hz, obvs not for the same price

        • @Godric:

I don't want the higher res. Its hard enough to push higher framerates as it is.

I'm so out of touch with monitors, just been gaming on a 24" Dell HD.

If I were to upgrade, what would be the minimum features to look out for? Refresh? Resolution?

    • +1

high refresh rate over higher resolution (if you have to choose between the two) the games will look much smoother at a higher refresh rate

      • 144hz??

        • +1

At least 120hz for gaming in my opinion, depends what you mainly use it for.

I use mine for gaming so I'd rather go the higher refresh rate, I can't go back to a lower refresh rate after playing at 120hz.

Its like using an SSD for the first time, you just go "Oh wow"

    • +3

Dont forget the graphics requirement to run said resolution/hz

Depends on your PC specs and what you play. If anything fast pace / competitive you'll always want to favour higher Hz.

1440p 120-144Hz IPS panel if you're high end.
1440p 60Hz IPS panel if mid range and not fast pace
1080p 120-144Hz TN panel if mid range and fast pace (TN panels have bad viewing angles and mediocre colour reproduction)
1080p 60Hz IPS panel if not fast paced and low end or lower budget.

  • I have a second monitor running at 60hz.. I think a 120-144hkz monitor might give me issues with different refresh rates.
    I've got a Radeon 7900 series

  • These are $185 at MSY normally.

    • if so, they don't appear on their price list or website, that I could see.

      • My apologies, it's a different model - The Samsung S24F350FHE - FWIW, I have one and I'm happy with it.

Apologies for not even being capable to get the right brand, let alone model!

          No probs!

  • Can the stand rotate the screen 90 degrees?

    • No it's fixed

      • use x2 at a same time?

        • Yes. You mean dual screens?

        • @Gimli: yes, because if I get x2 with Amex can get $50 credit, have a gaming pc with gxt 1070 sli but rarely use because I use mobiles and tablets more often but monitors with hdmi port like this at this price is so tempting. have a 4k 28" but tn panel which i dont like

        • @Gimli: so I just plug one at each card's hdmi port?

        • @webtherapist:

1070 is a bit overkill for 1080p gaming.

You could get away with using 1060's and save some cash, or start with a single 1070 and run dual output and see what rates you can achieve, then go SLI if needed (or just go 1080 - with the Ti released, prices are dropping to what 1070's were at a few months ago).

        • @klownz: not mine originally but family did not want it after two months so I take it over, ripped off with parts too and I know it is a waste of 3.5K

  • Do office works stock the 24MP58VQ?

    • No
Otherwise I would have price matched :-)
