  • I never owned any Le Creuset products before. Can anyone explain to me why they are that expensive? Particularly, the cast iron pots are 10 times of the price comparing the recent Aldi deal. I understand there is some brand value in play, but still…

    • Three reasons:

      1. Because people pay a premium for a brand.
      2. People think that paying more guarantees them a better product that will last longer.
      3. Because they can.
      • Aldi is made in China while LC is made in France plus lifetime warranty and better colour selection and brand name with celebrity endorsement

      • +1
        1. They're MUCH higher quality than the cheapies - resulting in more even cooking and longer lifespan.

EDIT: Weird! it says 4 in edit mode…
And I'm comparing to the Le Chasseur Brand clones… I've never seen an ALDI version.

      • agree. a fool with a tool is still a fool

It's French sounding and the food tastes better as a consequence.

  • I put the food in. The fench pot does the rest. I sit back and watch tv.

  • Channeling JV here but ALDI ones are cheaper.

  • 50% off RRP = not much of a sale. They never sell anywhere near RRP, not even at Myer

  • I have both a Le Creuset and an Aldi purchased pot. I can definitely tell you that they are different. The Le Creuset is much easier to clean. Must have something to do with the quality of the glazing. The other difference is that stuff comes out of the Le Creuset tasting better. I am not sure why though. I know that sounds really vague and nonsensical. But to me it really does taste better.
