$100 Visa Card After Holding Policy for 2 Months @ Insuranceline

70

Hi All,

Currently you can get a $100 Visa Card (or Lenovo A7-10 tablet) after holding a Life Insurance, Income Protection or Funeral Insurance policy for 2 months with Insuranceline.

Depending on your age you can end up ahead, for example the lowest level of Funeral Insurance for me had a premium of ~$13/month.

I have only bought a policy for this promo and plan to cancel after 2 months and receiving the Visa card, so I can't comment on the quality of the products offered. Please research this yourself if you want to continue the policy for the long term.

T&C do not state any minimum premium requirement for this promotion, however do note that "if the Gift chosen by an Eligible Customer becomes unavailable, another Gift of similar value will be awarded in lieu". So if the Visa Card becomes unavailable, you could be stuck with the tablet or other product.

Offer ends 11:59PM (AEDT) tonight!

  • Brilliant!

  • Good post but a bit of a nuisance that you are not guaranteed the Visa card.

Here's what to do if you're going to cancel after the qualification period:

    https://www.insuranceline.com.au/existing-customers/cancelli…

    • So if you cancel they still want you to call so they can try and save you. Is it worth the hassle?

  • thanks op
    Woah careful with theses guys.
Was mucking around with their quote form and have already received selling calls

    • ur dumbass then!… why didnt u use fake details!?

      • I used a work phone but I think it is useful to the warn others, don't you?

        • you called me numnuts!

        • @bonky:
Well you were being a bit of a dick with your original comment but I decided to edit for general politeness :)

@King Tightarse: Well… my name is Bonky!

  • I found that you can get a cheaper price if you use fortnightly payments

    Done!

I don't take calls from South of the Tweed so no problem there….

  • thanks bought one

  • Is there a promo code as I don't see the offer on the site?

    • Seems all mention of the promotion has been removed from the website (although the T&C link is still valid)
      Will mark as expired

  • How do you avoid paying the 3rd month's premium given you can only cancel after holding it for 60 days.

    • Have been looking into this.

Best may be to change direct debit instructions to an account with zero balance but one that does not charge you dishonour fees.

      Unpaid premium and premium dishonours
If you don’t pay the premium when due, or the premium deduction
from your account can’t be made, then:
      • if the unpaid premium is the first premium, the Policy will be
cancelled and be treated as if it had not operated at all; or
      • if the unpaid premium is a premium other than the first
premium, we will allow 30 days from the due date to make this
payment. lf we have not received payment by this time, we will
send you a notice telling you that we will cancel your Policy
if the premium then due is not paid by the date shown in the
notice. This date will be at least 28 days from the date of the
giving of this notice. If you do not pay the premium by that date
we will cancel the Policy and the insurance Cover stops.

      • Further to this - just checking the rules for the St george account I recently opened for the $50 it seems you can contact them 24 hours a day to cancel a direct debit arrangement. So might direct it there and then ensure nil balance and contact the bank the night before to cancel the DD arrangement.

That way 60 days and two payments will have occurred for insuranceline, thus meeting the eligibility criteria.

15 Direct debit terms and conditions

15.2 You may cancel your direct debit
facility by visiting any branch, or
        calling 13 33 30 24 hours a day,
7 days a week. You should also
contact the merchant who is debiting
the funds from your Account. If you
wish to alter your direct debit facility,
        you should contact the merchant
who is debiting the funds from your
Account. We cannot accept a request
to stop a payment made under a
        direct debit arrangement after we
        have debited the payment from
        your Account.

  • anyone get the card?

  • We should have received these by now, I think…

    • By my reading of the eligibility criteria the following two events must have occurred:

      1. paid for 2 months premiums
      2. 60 days as a policyholder must have elapsed.

If both have get onto them!!!

I have just under 3 weeks until so.

      • "60 days as a policyholder"

Oh right, so in that case we must be in out third month of premiums to receive them.

        • +1

probably their intention but also their mistake….. As per one of my technical posts above, should you not make the 3rd month's payment, their policy is to keep the policy open for 30 days to allow you to pay and continue the policy. If, after the additional 30 days yiou haven't paid installment 3, they cancel the policy.

In this scenario, you have met the eligibility criteria. So dodge the 3rd payment perhaps by the method I suggest:

"Further to this - just checking the rules for the St george account I recently opened for the $50 it seems you can contact them 24 hours a day to cancel a direct debit arrangement. So might direct it there and then ensure nil balance and contact the bank the night before to cancel the DD arrangement."

  • Comments reopened if anyone would like to share their experience.

  • I've been charged my third premium but still nothing from them, anyone's got their gift card?

  • Called them and spoke to a very rude customer service. Anyone that has held the policy for 60 days and paid for 3 month premium will still need to wait to get sms confirmation from them within the next week then you can cancel.

She was hopeless and shouted back at me. Told her T&Cs just stated you need to hold for 60 days and pay 2 month premium (not 3!), I've paid 3 months anyway but she still say no cancellation until you get the sms.

    • What is the purpose of the SMS? To confirm receipt of the Gift Cards?

      • +1

and maybe how to claim it. They are making you jump through hoops, never again.

      • When I signed up the rep told me i just needed to pay for 2 months and can cancel after the 2nd premium charged. Full of BS pfft.

  • Nothing here yet either, no e-mail no SMS, will give them a call later today, I've paid my 3rd month premium as well.

  • Remember this experience if you ever are offered Income Protection or TPD & Death insurance from TAL.

If you're with QSuper your life depends on these pricks so suggest you get out asap.

Just got my SMS, go to www.insuranceline.com.au/offer to redeem the $100 Visa Gift Card using your policy number

    • What day did u join in?

      • 16th June

        • Me too but I didn't get SMS ,you are lucky

  • Got my sms yesterday as well

aLso be prepared for a long time on the phone when cancelling your policy. I had to say multiple times that I am not changing my mind & want to cancel now but she went on and on and on and on about why it's not a good idea.

  • Still waiting.

  • These bastards are claiming I signed up on the 19th and not the 16th!!!

They bloody tried calling me 5 times on the 16th!!!!

    Dodgy scammers!!!

  • How many days did you guys receive the $100 visa gift card after redeem?

    • haven't received in mail. Redeemed 8 days ago.

      • maybe they will try to stretch the send out time to get everyone to do another round of payments

        • You are right. I already paid them 70 days.they ask me to pay another 14 days and say I am still not eligible .Visa card won't be horner .insuranceline and gift cards are two different companies.

      • When did you cancel your policy?

        • I cancelled about 7 days ago

  • Thanks

  • So no call back as expected. This time the main office confirmed everything was correct then put me through to the dodgy prize people who denied all knowledge of my call, told me they'd fix everything and expect it within 28 days. Ahh - no, not waiting another month.

    • Policy cancellation is fun. Three times I've interrupted her spiel to say just cancel it I'm not interested in your sales pitch.

      • Astonishingly she had me on hold for 10 minutes then explained that she hasn't closed my account because she's fixed the problem with the gift card (the problem I'd fixed myself on the previous call)

I had to tell her no less than 6 more times to cancel the insurance. The second she indicated it was closed I hung up.

I don't trust her for a second. Just went online and changed payment details to an exhausted prepaid debit card.

Insuranceline (TAL) - go (profanity) yourself!!!!

        • Getting my visa card at last!

        • @Mr Gradgrind: did you receive the visa card?

        • @jwl81124: It's on its way. Due to their pathetic incompetence I've only just redeemed it.

        • @DisabledUser208108: thanks for reply

  • +1

Just got my $100 Visa Gift card in the mail, now the fun part, calling up to cancel my policy lol

    • +1

Ah great, the first reported arrival. Cheers, enjoy saying "no" over and over cancelling ;P

  • Still haven't received my VISA in the mail, redeemed 3 weeks ago now.

    • Me too, getting near another round of fees. What are they doing????

      • I've canceled mine and got sms and redeemed the visa so no more fees from me but surely processing the visa doesn't take this long..

        • Are you sure they will still send it if we cancel?

        • +2

@King Tightarse: That's what the staff said. They said if you want to cancel, cancel after you receive sms to claim you visa.

        • -1

@tajid: on the mail topic, have you gotten my email, its an issue in regards the previous wish card purchase a while ago, as I have overpaid. thanks, some reason pm is not working

  • Still no goddamn card…

    • Have you called and complained?

      Still haven't got it either.

      • No will call them tomorrow as its more than 28 days now

        • +2

Just got my visa card in the mail today.
