[PC] DRM-Free - Transistor (95% Positive Rating of ~15k Votes; Trading Cards) (+Free Copy of Rebel Galaxy) - $5.79 AUD - GOG

120

If you loved Bastion, you are likely to love this - it is made by the same people and is a great game.
The price is almost at its all time low (within 15 cents) but since this copy is DRM-free and you can get it now I reckon it is worth an extra 15 cents.

From the webpage:

"From the creators of Bastion, Transistor is a sci-fi themed action RPG that invites you to wield an extraordinary weapon of unknown origin as you fight through a stunning futuristic city. Transistor seamlessly integrates thoughtful strategic planning into a fast-paced action experience, melding responsive gameplay and rich atmospheric storytelling. During the course of the adventure, you will piece together the Transistor's mysteries as you pursue its former owners.

  • An all-new world from the team that created Bastion
  • Configure the powerful Transistor with thousands of possible Function combinations
  • Action-packed real-time combat fused with a robust strategic planning mode
  • Vibrant, hand-painted artwork in full 1080p resolution

  • Price in title

  • The price, son.

Price is a surprise. Come on, you cannot expect people to do ALL the work for you. The least you could do is click the link. ;-)

        because posting rules

        • -3

          (a) You need to learn to read humour between the lines (hint: the ;-) gives you an indication)

          (b) I have posted plenty of deals - I simply forgot so no need to get one's knickers in a knot

          (c) I do not consider a website as my absolute authority on life. Rules or not, that is irrelevant. I do not get paid for posting and contributing to the website - hence if there are certain formats they want they people who DO get paid can fix that if I choose to use my time otherwise.
Also, ever heard about "Rules are there to be broken"?

          (d) Lighten up. It was simply an oversight and there is no need to take ANY website this serious.

          (e) Just for future reference: saying please, being courteous, and writing in whole sentences does go a LONG way with most people, including myself. I have an allergy to people who do not say please or thank you, especially if they do not know me. Also, not saying those things, immediately creates a hostile atmosphere which is what is to be avoided on here given the many previous discussions about hostility towards deal posters.

          You missed the initial joke.

        • @Steptoe:

That would have been: "Tell 'em the price, son".

Also, you are working on the assumption people know ancient commercials from Australia - I think if I asked around in the organisation where I volunteer next Saturday (and most people are under 30) no-one would know that commercial at all.

Anyway, all good. The issue with please and thank you remains valid on this site for a good number of people though, unfortunately.

          Have a great weekend.

Steam Sale in 4 days time if anyone is wondering…

    http://whenisthenextsteamsale.com/

    • True, but even on Steam it has only been about 15 cents cheaper so far. Here you get a DRM-free copy plus one great bonus game (DRM-free as well).
If Steam were to beat that, they would have to sell it at $2.00 US max., especially given the extra game.

  • Thanks OP. Got it and pleasantly found that Rebel Galaxy is very Freelancer-esque.

Why mention trading cards when it's a DRM free copy?

    • For the sake of completeness. You can almost be certain that if not mentioned someone would have said that info was missing.
It is also useful if indeed one wants to wait for a Steam sale and take one's chances on it being cheaper.

  • If you just want Rebel Galaxy for 30 cents, can get it with Postal included on this similar deal from GOG

  • Does GOG have trading cards now?

    Title gore

    • Helps to read above.
As anticipated, Steam was brought up and hence the TC info is indeed useful for the upcoming sale.

      • It is confusing to place such information in the title as it is a completely different store. One may interpret it as having a 95% positive rating on GOG, have trading cards and comes with Rebel Galaxy with the every purchase.

95% rating refers to Steam and should so be in the description.

No trading card in GOG version. Summer sale hasn't been confirmed yet, so again, irrelevant.

Rebel Galaxy is only with the first purchase and so should only be put in the description.

While you are at this, why not put that you can claim a copy of Alan Wake American Nightmare (if you buy 2) in the title because it is useful.

        • Again, use your energy to find bargains and post them.
Don't only criticise, do something proactive and find deals for everyone.

Things might be confusing for you but people who regularly look at the gaming deals understand quite fine.

Also, in case you have not noticed, there is a limit of what can be put in the title (limit as in number of characters) - maybe if you do above, namely post more deals, you would know that too.

As for the summer sale, if you do a google search, you will find info on that.

          Example:

          https://www.reddit.com/r/Steam/comments/6hgblh/steam_summer_…

Of course you will now say that is just Reddit. However, they are normally pretty well informed, partly because staff from Steam, game developers etc. are on Reddit, too and contribute there.

So, stop harassing me with your meaningless comments - channel your energy in finding deals and post bargains - then it will be our turn to criticise, hey?

          Have a good night.

P.S.: By the way, once you got RG in your account, getting a second key to redeem on GOG is of no relevance. If you want to get it for a friend, simply make a second account. Simple and no stress.

  • new to this;

Does a GOG launcher need to be installed to play/run these or do you get the standalone game as an installer?

    TIA

    • +1

No launcher required. You just download the file(s) and install the game.
GOG Galaxy is optional - I do not use it so cannot provide a lot of info on it.

      • thanks

  • as I posted on the other post by the OP - https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/313638

umm just curious why these individual posts for games on GOG.com are being allowed? the price has been the same for the past week or so that the WHOLE SITE SALE has been running.

    mods?

seems just like an excuse to be upvoted by the OP to me.

notification of the sale is good, however spam advertising to be upvoted is not a deal imo.

    • Nope, it's perfectly fine (tolerated by both the community and the site rules) for the best deals to have their own deal like this even though the main one has been posted. E.g.: ebay 20% select retailers, and that $320 inspiron that's part of it, each have separate deals.

If a deal is that good that people vote it up separately, What's the issue?

      • Thank you for clarifying this and setting this out.
There is really no issue - gizmo seems to have had a bad day/bee up the bonnet. ;-)
@gizmo: just take it easy - this is just a bargain website, not a life and death matter.
