25% off Parallels Desktop for Mac ($74.96 1-time or yearly)

120

Set up a 14-day Trial for my sister a week ago, and then after a week she was going to decide if she wanted to buy it or try something else.

Needless to say, this deal has popped up at just the right time so I thought some of you peeps might enjoy some great software too.

Don't forget cashrewards! - I did! It's 12% for v12

  • Nice catch. Thanks OP.

  • Possibly a bad time to buy? They have always updated parallels when a new macOS comes out and inevitably there's a feature missing from the old version… This is just my past experience after picking up Parallels in a bundle a few years ago. I don't think High Sierra is too far off.

Nothing stopping you from getting the "yearly" option then? (thus giving you all updates for that year…)

Notice what happens when you have competition like Parallels on the Mac? Yes, 3x the cost of the equivalent VMWare on Windows platform than it is on the Mac. Honestly a rip off from VMWare and I dont like supporting them anymore in favour of alternatives (Hyper-V, Virtualbox etc). I'd get the Workstation Pro if it was more around $150 or so (as what it use to be).

I got sick of paying VMware / Parallels every year for each macOS update.

I switched to VirtualBox. It's free and is kept upgraded with each new release. If you have a Mac with more than 8GB of RAM you need to get the more expensive Parallels Pro version to make use of it.

There are reviews that talk about performance and battery life being bad on VirtualBox, but most of them seem to be outdate (pre-2016). I actually saw better battery life and a faster Windows VM with VirtualBox.

    • The "Free" VirturalBox beat all those performance / battery life issues, not to mention "Free Update" whenever you feel like to install it.

    • Isn't VMware workstation free? :(

VMWare Player for Windows is free. VMWare Fusion for Mac is not free, neither is VMWare Workstation.

    • Plus you can run various distros of Linux and Unix as well as Windows on your machine.
I've found it very useful for learning linux on a Windows machine.

  • Legend, thank you.

  • I bought a copy a few years back and they regularly (almost every month) offer me upgrades for about $48.

I suspect that once you get on their mailing list you will get a similar offer. Also stacksocial regularly offer this at a discount (though not right now).
