Lots of people have had issues with non AU supplied Xbox Live codes on recent Xbox Units (one and one s)
They apparently have some kind of region check system implemented.
I personally have added a code to my account via MS website
Logged into my Xbox and got a "not valid for your region" error
Aren't Xbox Live codes region-free?

You can buy from Microsoft Australia for less. $53 for 12 months offered to me when I log onto my account.

they offer discounts if your Xbox live going to expire soon or already expired.
Same on my wife's just-expired (15 June) XBLG account which is why I was looking in the first place. Not saying it never happens, but $53 for 12/mo ain't something to rely on being available.
Mine was already expired and I wasn't offered any discount from Microsoft.

I would hold off for now. They are having problems with codes not working. 1 purchased 2 codes and only 1 works. They are investigating with their supplier.

Checking out with Paypal allows you to bypass all the form completion.
Received the code within minutes and found that the code wasn't being accepted straight away via the Windows 10 XBox Application however when I went to the Windows Live website and logged in, the code was accepted and applied immediately followed by a confirmation email from Microsoft moments later.
