Not sure if this is the cheapest price this product has ever been on sale for, but can't be far off it. A few months ago I priced it at $569.99 at Costco Canberra

  • I wonder if you can remove the casing and use as an internal 1TB SSD?

    • Prbly not, its not a standard 2.5 inch ssd, and this ssd is litterly a tick tak

      • This is an mSATA drive so yes you can but pointless to do so at the moment as the bare drives cost less.

    • +2

Yes, it can actually be done. Essentialy it is a samsung 850 m-sata drive with what I presume is slightly different firmware attached to a usb controller. You can use it in an m-sata slot or buy a cheap m-sata to sata converter. They only down side is that it will not work with samsung magician.

You can just open the case up and take the m-sata drive out. This is unlike the old T1 which had a different way to encrypt the drive and was useless outside of its case.

Im saying that, I would not use it that way, you can buy a 1TB SATA SSD much cheaper (even the 850 evo) with the current ebay vouchers, or get the 850 evo m-sata for around the same price. Either way, you will have warranty and the drive will work with Samsung magician. I would only buy this drive if you needed it as an external device.

  • Pretty good price - nearly bought one of these the other day for about $500.
