@Scrooge McDuck: be easier to buy a can

        • @robertbruce: Or find a KFC receipt, tell someone you're homeless, beg to use their phone to do the survey and ask if they'll sumbit the receipt for you with their KFC order and give you the free chips & drink on the way out.

Ok, maybe we're exaggerating. But now I'm going to read the above again to try and understand what we're talking about.

Didn't read the OP, can someone briefly explain the secret handshake?

  • +6

    Instructions unclear. Drank sugar soap

    • +9

      Username doesn't check out.

  • +2

i got past 2 sentences, then i decided i'll just spend $2 to buy a can instead.

and from a long time zero drinker, i actually think this taste better (subjective) simply because it's as advertised, the flavours match the sugared version more closely (objective). If however you've grown accustomed to the more prominent taste of the unique sugar free agent used in zero, you may not be immediately fond of it. And on branding, zero is a way cooler product name, wonder why they couldn't just incept this into the market as the new and improved zero.

    • +1

      Coke One

    • my exact thoughts, 3 words instead of 2 is not good marketing. I read somewhere they say they changed the name because not enough people were aware Coke Zero is sugar free, probably the sort of people who never drink soft drinks or seek diet products. Everyone else does know, so yeah its weird. It can't be a bigger fail than Coke Life though i guess.
i used to drink heaps of Zero till i found out the hard way it still rots your teeth coz of the acid in it, my dentist said its even worse than the regular coke. The trick is to drink through a straw so it doesn't go all over your teeth then rinse your mouth with water afterwards, if only i knew.
so is the new one sweeter tasting than zero? i don't like the regular Diet Coke for that reason…

  • +1

How on earth do we even claim this? Too much to read

  • -1

No sugar coke… it's same as Coke Zero! Stupid marketers trying to fool us again.

    • +1

      It's a different formula.

      • +1

        new new coke the third

  • +2

Wait, coke zero still exists? I thought no sugar was replacing coke zero…

    • It is, but not right away, at least according to what I have read.

      • If you read it correctly "Coke No Sugar has no Sugar" that mean "Coke Zero has no …..Coke ? "

        • +1

I thought Coke Zero was coke for losers (zeros). I'm addicted to that crap ;-)

    • -1

Yes coke zero still exists, there are still some survivors left.

  • +3

I wish they'd just make a dry cola, with low or no sugar. And no artificial sweeteners. As a mixer.

  • So far I have listened to that damn idiotic ad twice and Shazam just took me to the web site and no voucher. I guess I have to listen again tomorrow?

So much text. Marketeres should just make it simple 'One free Cok per person, per day - limited trial- / ENDS X'

    • +4

I already have a free cok.

      • +2

Good to have a spare… never know when you could be xxxtra thirsty.

        • +1

        • +1

          @Spackbace:

I've only ever heard Singaporeans use that expression

  • Spent a long time reading, then saw "voucher will be posted when availiable" time wasted… cokes cost like 40c a can…. no deal.

    • +1

Coca-Cola is very rarely under 50c per can. (usually for out of date stock)
Pepsi on the other hand regularly goes under 50c per can.

      • Ok lets say 80c then. 375ml…. small coke cup 250ml? So roughly 55c of coke…. how long to read that deal 5minutes? Then wait for coupon… when coupon comes say u take 1 min ti get the voucher.

Assum u dont go out of your way to maccas or 7/11. So 6mins for 55c of "value".

So this is a deal as much as getting paid $5.50 an hour is a deal.

"One free shot at Cancer" It still contains aspartame, so its no better. It will still give us brain tumors!

    • +1

Aspartame isn't 'healthy', but it's also not responsible for brain tumours either.

We have been consuming aspartame since the early 1980s, yet the brain tumour rate is not rising in Australia.

      Figure 2:
      https://brain-cancer.canceraustralia.gov.au/statistics

Also, where is the tumour spike associated with digital mobile phones from about 1995 onwards?

  • Despite us all making fun of the biblical-sized t&c not one single neg on the deal. I am proud of you OB-wan kenobi. (see what I did there!)

  • +1

Actually this new Coke isn't bad, tastes a lot more like Coke than Coke Zero ever did. I gave up sugar earlier this year so am impressed

    • +1

Congrats on a difficult move. I've given up sugar in my coffee for nearly a year. :)

  • lol my local woolies doesn't even have this product yet, still selling zero.

    • I have seen Coke No Sugar in the wild once - 2 600ml bottles for $6 which works out to $5/L. As a Coke Zero fiend I don't buy over $2/L and try for under $1.50/L so yeah no Coke No Sugar for me yet.

    • And they won't be getting it either.. according to the news article I read, Woolworths is refusing to stock it because Coke already has too many different varieties. Apparently they won't stock it until Coke Zero is withdrawn.

  • +1

I tried to order a bottle of this from dominos. The delivery driver brought a bottle of diet coke, and tried to convince me it was the new no sugar coke…

    • +1

hahaha You sure you didn't order from Domingos or Domengos?

      • +1

Domingos would probably make pizzas better than the ones we had.

        • I'm pretty lucky. MOST of the time my local Dominos is pretty good. (Not always). Haven't had a truly revolting one yet.

  • What app am i supposed to download?

Coke or Shazam or other? :S

  • What's the point of giving out samples from a soda fountain? It all tastes like rubbish anyway.

If you want people to try it for real, give out cans.

  • (profanity) me, I need to do all that for a mini Coke?

Believe me, the effort is appreciated, I've wondered for a while what they were going to do with these samples, and I know it's not your fault, but (profanity) this shit is ridiculous.

I don't have any data because it's largely useless to me, so I just use hotspots. Coles will have to do me in a shopping complex for this.

    Thanks OP!

    • +1

Coles will have to do me

      • Yep, Coles is online now using this link.

    • +2

You mean to say I read all this sh*t to end up simply getting a free online coupon…
      Thanks OzJD

TL;DR: Coke No Sugar is Coke Zero with some flavours changed, preservatives removed, salt reduced, changed percentages of ingredients (More sweetner, less flavouring needed). It'll all come down to whether you like the flavours or not of course. It's not the same as Coke Zero but they're overstating the differences.

    Detail:

Had a look at the ingredients list, nutritional information and Coke's FAQ.
    https://www.coca-cola.com.au/en/new-coke-no-sugar-faqs/

    https://www.coca-cola.com.au/en/products/coca-cola-no-sugar/
Carbonated water, Colour (150d), Food acids (338, 331), Sweeteners (951, 950), Flavour, Caffeine.
    Contains caffeine. Contains Phenylalanine

    https://www.coca-cola.com.au/en/products/coca-cola-zero/
Carbonated Water, Colour (150d), Food Acids (338, 331), Flavour, Sweeteners (951, 950), Preservative (211), Caffeine.
    Contains caffeine. Contains Phenylalanine.

I won't reproduce the nutritional information. It's linked above. Energy, carbs, protein amounts not changed.

Differences between Coke Zero and Coke No Sugar.
    1) Different flavours. Coke zero needed more of whatever flavoured it (See order of ingredients changed)
    2) Preservative present in Coke Zero, not present in Coke No Sugar (except in post mix version of Coke No Sugar which still needs preservatives).
    3) Sodium reduced from 11mg in Coke Zero to 4.2mg in Coke No Sugar.

Taking out the preservatives and some salt is going to be a net win in terms of health (but a tiny one. Sodium may?? be significant to some addicts with blood pressure issues??).

    • -1

Seems the evidence linking salt intake to hypertension is fairly flimsy: http://www.nytimes.com/2012/06/03/opinion/sunday/we-only-thi…

      • +2

The author is quite a controversial figure. Take with a grain of salt. (Pun intended).

        https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gary_Taubes

The vast majority of literature shows a link between salt and hypertension, and there is a well established mechanism.

        http://www.nutritionaustralia.org/national/frequently-asked-…
"Salt would rapidly be fatal if the kidneys could not excrete it as fast as you eat it. But, the kidneys excrete salt faster at a higher blood pressure, and the ability of the kidneys to raise blood pressure provides powerful and life-saving protection against the accumulation of a dangerous backlog of salt."

That said, most things would kill you in sufficient quantity. This isn't going to be a huge win for an occasional Coke Zero drinker who switches to Coke No Sugar. Which is why I said "may" and mentioned "some addicts" (as in Coke Zero addicts).

  • All diet cola's taste awful, that is why they keep changing the recipe

  • Wonder why McDonald's got the headstart on Coles. Sells more Coca-Cola than Coles, probably. Certainly does in the car parks…

    • More accurately, historically the success of Coca-Cola has to do with McDonald's.
Read up their history. This is why, almost all Macca's adverts will feature coca-cola and also why all McDonald's internationally sell cocacola.

  • 12 minutes? mmmkay :/

anyway cheers for the OP - i have been looking for a few days for a free sample and wasn't having any luck, but it seems the rigmarole to get one is a bit much.

will wait for the coles date and see how i go.

  • I got my free sample from flybuys so I don't have to go through all the steps mentioned in previous versions of this post. All I had to do was find the right 250ml can, scan my flybuys card and when I went to pay for my other groceries the price of the coke came off the total.

  • Damn, Coles starts tomorrow and I hit the redeem button

  • better to get this in a can to get the true taste as maccas makes their soft drinks from a mixture with soda so they usually taste slightly different. I will probably get mine from Coles today :)
As for people complaining how hard it is to get the freebie, you go & fill in your email addy then just wait till your ready to claim it to hit redeem, not hard!

  • +1

Just got a can from Coles, walked to Maccas and got a small drink, then walked the 100m to the next Maccas who tried to say they don't have Coke no sugar yet only zero and therefore it can't be used. They coughed up a small coke zero shortly thereafter.

If in a high density shopping area I wonder how many you could get in the 12 minutes? Easily 4 from Maccas in Brisbane CBD.

  • +1

I went to Coles just a few minutes ago, took the only Coke No Sugar can left on the shelf, then went to the self-serve checkout. Scanned the coke, and tried to scan the voucher barcode after I pressed redeem. It didn't work, scanned it on the Flybuys scanner thing, then.. it added $0.01 in the checkout. I called for assistance but they didn't really do much. The code didn't work but in the end they gave it to me free anyway.

    • Once you finalise the transaction, pay now or something similar, it will deduct the can price and the voucher price and you'll get it for free.

      • I did press pay now and it still showed up as $1.01. Did anyone get this free from using the barcode?

        • scan coke $1.01
          scan code $0.01

          pay now

          -$1.01

Did it at two different stores with two different codes.

        • I'll give it a try again on Monday. Hopefully they restock on more coke. Thanks for the tip.

  • +1

Tried a coke no sugar the other day.. It had that weird non-sweet sweetness that I could detect and hated in Diet Coke. I always assumed it was the aspartame. I find it kinda gross and no substitute for real sweetness to me. On top of that its not as flavoursome as coke zero.. Coke zero tasted a bit like the sweet spices that were part of the original coke recipe (cinnamon, cloves etc).

  • Not bad. Slightly sweeter than zero

  • code not workin at coles central sydney. operator arrogantly advise it's a scam. then wasted the code after 10mins
