thanks mate. $200+ is still a bit high. i wish this sdd would drop below $180.

I think some high end video cards, SSD and RAM (mobile) are in shortage. So it'll probably be a while before that happens. Who knows though they might suddenly drop like eBays % discount codes.

I just had a look at last time I purchased one of these August 2016 !!! Paid $188. That was with Futu and an ebay code.

The 3D nand chips are in global shortages now thus the higher prices on SSDs over the last 6+ months.

        • good to know, thanks mate

    • Agreed. I think I paid $186 last year!

    • +1

Yeah I bought it last year for $180 from futu online eBay aswell

And $285 on their eBay listing. What a surprise. #ebayinflation

  • Sweet!

I'd say a good deal, considering the price + free shipping.

    Thanks, OP!

  • Great price - cheapest I've seen for a while apart from some of the Ebay 20% deals.

  • How does one connect this to a laptop? Is it an external HD and connect with USB cable? Basic question, I know - but can't find the answer on the deal page, and it's always been on my mind to find out -thanks!

    • If your current laptop is compatible you can replace your HDD, you may also be able to replace your disc drive with it using a caddy. Otherwise you can purchase a 2.5" external drive enclosure and plug it in via USB. Depends what you want to use it for.

    • Internal SSD, through SATA connection.

    • 99% of the time its a straight swap with the current storage unit you have installed in the laptop. If you're planning to buy it I say DO IT! great price! I bought this around $250 a year ago and my god every dollar spent was worth it!

    • Keep in mind replacing your laptop harddrive means you will need to do a fresh install of Windows.

      • Always better to do a clean install (Sometimes faster) but you can also do clone/image. Takes a while though…

        • Sure, if you can plug both drives into your laptop at the same time.

  • Hi every technic expert, may I ask is this retailer (shopping express) reliable, their products are genuine or from grey market? I'm planning to buy the Samsung 1TB SSD to replace the HDD for my 2010 iMac.

    • Genuine aus stock with invoice and local warranty.

      • Thanks Man, will place my order

How does mx300 perform comparing to evo 850. I am considering buying mx300 275gb for laptop.

    • +1

Performance wise, Samsung Ev0 850 is the faster performer. Having said that the MX300 is no slouch in performance either. Also you also get extra GB per $
      A 275GB SSD = 255GB Formatted (crucial)
      A 250GB SSD = 238GB Formatted (Samsung)

Both are good SSDs. Speed, go for Samsung Evo. Storage, go for Crucial MX300 (best bang for buck)

I have both in my system and regardless of the stats, where the EVO wins by a few ms here or there there is little to no chance you will actually see much real world difference.

  • I would vote positively but for the global shortages bumping up pricing at the moment. If you can, hold off, and wait for pricing to return to how it was 6 months or so ago.

  • Hasn't this drive been <$180 several times?

    • +1

Prior to the global nand shortage.

  • will never buy anything from Shopping Express again. Sent them repeated request for an RMA form but never got a reply.

  • Has this ended? Showing $228 on site.
