I've been in the market for a smaller sized mATX case that isn't a tiny SFF, and I found this one from PADO (Darkflash) quite cheap and good looking. While this deal is not for everyone I'm always willing to give an AliExpress special a try out. Especially when you can stack it with 15% cashback at TopCashback for extra savings.

It's available in Black or White, fits GPUs up to 320mm, suitable for mATX/ITX boards (2 RAM slots), 346 x 275 x 338mm chassis size, 155mm CPU cooler height, room for 7 fans including a 240mm AIO cooler and includes the usual 1x USB 3.0, 1x USB 2.0 ports and audio jack. Fans are not included.

In terms of reviews, there aren't a ton of videos out there, but this small Australian channel, 88-bit Tech has both an unboxing and a final build video. From the video you can see that it's been packaged well, with plenty of styrofoam and padding. There are also some good final build pictures in the AliExpress reviews, including this, this, this and this.

When you think about how much of that cost is international shipping this is really cheap.

Jonsbo make a much nicer version but it costs a lot more.

  • lol i thought the photo had very badly photoshopped fans. clicked in and turns out they just angled the "side" fans forward in a very counter-productive way. Takes more space and hard locks you out from putting 240 radiators there, regardless of thickness. consumer hard drives almost never need active cooling. very design design.

It fits 240mm on top thankfully. There's always a downside to cheap cases.

    • Yeah you're not wrong.

Had also been looking for a small case, for M-ATX mb, ATX PSU and be able to fit in an IKEA cube shelf. Wanted a little less window though, went with the X100 which is similarly priced (dropped a couple of dollars after I ordered of course).

Only thing is the month+ ETA as I guess these aren't coming by air.

Now this is in interesting concept. Stick the home server in the kallax.. thanks for the idea

  • Nice deal, thought about sagittarius 8-bay or jonsbo n5, but they end up around $300 shipped.

Any other mATX options for transferring from a larger fractal define?

    • +1

Jonsbo D31 is a great option.
I put together my wife's build in a slightly older D30, but had to replace it with the D40 due to fitment issues with the 4080 (the card was about 10mm too fat, clashed with the bottom fans).
It was a nice case to build in, the D31 to improve on that again, with the option of mesh/screens to suit your flavour.
Being stocked locally was a bonus. There's also a D32 pro now, though not sure I like the look of it.

If you are transferring from a larger case, with lots of drives, maybe this N4 is more your flavour? Looks pretty neat!

      • +2

N4 has many design issues, N5 is good but quite big.

        • yup.. which is why I bougth an N3 - suited my purpose well and not too big.

  • I don't get the (YT) reviewer comment about the 2 ram slots - am I missing something?
MATX size is same whether there's 2 or 4 ram slots. There's pics in the reviews with 4 ram slot mobo.

    • +3

It's similar to the nr200p case from CM. It fits the smaller mATX boards that have 2 ram slots, but does not fit the larger mATX boards with 4 slots. 2 slot boards are not as tall and also not as wide as 4 slot boards.

This case looks like it still fits the 4 slot boards, but it may block the fans

        thanks scotty, appreciate the response.

        (chatgpt also says)
Some mATX boards are smaller in one dimension (usually depth), like:

        244 mm x 205 mm

        244 mm x 210 mm

So the boards I have for this are all 4 slot and would (possibly)overhang the base tray into the fan space (by ~ 34-39mm)

Not worth it without knowing the build effect. Pity - I like the darkflash cases - I did 5 builds in lockdown with the dlm21 mesh (m-atx) cases - good units at a budget price

4 ddr slots on matx is very tight. The x99 board I got had clashes with the ddr4 slots and lga 2011 cooler. Had to remove any heatsink on the ram to fit it nicely.

At the moment on AIGO 275p no overhang on a QIYADI x99 matx board.

thx for the info @Dolt2020 and @scottySK

was gonna pull a trigger if it supported 4-ram slot mATX flawlessly :/

I mean it would still function, but I’d prefer to avoid any obstruction to the air intake

This looks like the nebula pc case they use for their build, hey?

    • Can confirm, it looks the same as my PC (from Nebula), except for those angled side fans.

  • Any parts list of complete build?

  • +1

Recently completed this build - but with the Aigo 275p which looks identical. Bought for roughly $34AUD shipped and took 4 weeks.

Things to note from my build - last pcie slot didn't have the indent drilled because matx boards don't' technically reach that far - wanted to use bottom slot with riser.

The ATX slot for PSU is very tight, unless you use 90 degree connectors for modular - non-modular PSU wont fit without placing pressure against the cables. That said, might be wise to also use custom cable lengths to minimize tucking excess cabling in the rear - but defeats my purpose of doing a budget build.

Ended up with a Xeon 2630V4, X99 board with TPM module, 16GB ddr4, 1tb NVME and rtx 4060 all under $500 through SPARE parts and FB Marketplace. RTX4060 was bought on sale for $360.

    • I think it's worth noting that the Aigo 275P/Darkflash C275P doesn't have the angled side fans, whereas this model does. Right?

      • correct - no angle on the 275P (which I bought like @kid-vhee -mine's on its way, not delivered yet)

        • What motherboard? Sizing up whether to pull the trigger myself on the 275P

          • @wizza13: I have an msi b550m full m-atx with 4 ram slots so I know I'm gonna get overhang, took a punt on the 275p for under 40 bucks - I figured this rather than the OP might limit the ugliness!

            • +1

@Dolt2020: Keen to hear how it goes for you as I am weighing up the same thing :) Good luck

              • +1

@wizza13: I think you might have moved on to buy this, but just in case, my AIGO arrived today -here's a pic of my 275P with the motherboard sitting as it would be as installed - probably a 8cm overhang into the fan space. No hurry to do my build , but I'll get there.
(ed- sorry pic link prob doesn't work)

                • @Dolt2020: I actually didn't buy the Aerocool yet, hoping for something smaller..

I can't see the image you uploaded unfortunately, getting a 403 access denied. Maybe try imgur?

                  • +1

                    @wizza13: maybe this
                    and this longer shot

                    • +1

                      @Dolt2020: Awesome thanks for sharing!

                    • @Dolt2020: Snapping a motherboard is easier than you think - be realllllllly careful plugging in RAM and the ATX power connectors to that overhanging bit!!!!

                      • @Nom: yep no worries, unsupported mobos freak me out, the ram and atx power would be in before the mobo get's fixed to the case

      • That's correct, but to be frank angling it towards it's front glass panel is redundant/less pratical. The Aigo 275p currently draws air directly on the other side, where angled may draw air from PSU behind the motherboard.

That said cooling has been sufficient, so angle or not wouldn't matter.

Have those set to intake with two bottom fans as well. One exhaust at rear.

        • I'm strongly considering grabbing the Aigo. Just need to decide whether it's a little too narrow, as I don't want an impractical (or even just ugly) overhang which I think you get with mATX boards - what size of motherboard did you go for?

          • @wizza13: Qiyida x99 lga 2011-3 with the m2, nvme and ngff slot, supports Asus 14pin TPM . was 215x186mm -

but be wary about the chipset included "Chip: SEC / HY/ MIC and others (ship at random)" - recall a YT who reviews chinese MOBO that most of these are hacked together from older motherboards. I'd assume they make these at enterprise level were old servers are decommissioned and repurposed as these.

Not my first chinese X99 - running a Machinist branded one for my unraid server which has been running 18months+

            • @kid-vhee: Gutsy, hope it works for you! Quite an odd motherboard size, I guess it doesn't overhang then, or only a small amount

    • Xeon 2630V4, X99 board with TPM module, 16GB ddr4, 1tb NVME and rtx 4060 all under $500

I don't understand - why would you spend $500 on a system with a CPU and Motherboard from a decade ago ?

There have been plenty of deals posted for brand new gaming machines with a 4060 for $700-$800 🤷 Machines from 2025 not 2015.

      • Mainly to reuse old parts - I had spare DDR4 ram ,and spare 1Tb NVME. X2630 V4 x99 combo can be bought for under $50,

The deals for 4060 systems around 700-800 are decent for the regular user - the builds always use lower quality parts/brands.

But for myself budget was a strong point. $200 savings for a budget gaming build goes long as this isn't my primary machine, allowed me to complete the build which I enjoy.

        • Fair enough, I've got a modern gaming machine but I'm also rocking a similar aged X79 DDR3 system as a Fortnite machine connected to a projector which it handles just fine (it's got a modern graphics card) - but it's basically ewaste 🤩
