Riddoch Cabernet Sauvignon $15.99/2 Bottles (RRP $15.20/Bottle) @ Dan Murphy's (Members Offer)

1160

Browsing for something else and noticed a favourite go to bottle of mine was on special for members of Dan Murphy's.

A great drop of wine. I recently purchased this alongside a case of Corona in a recent/previous deal and to me, it was a bargain at ~$12.7/bottle. At $8/bottle, it's a no brainier (I'm going to be buying another 6!).

You will need to be a member in order to view the deal's listed price.

Membership is free to register - https://www.danmurphys.com.au/mdm/mydanmurphys/home.jsp?bmUI…

Deal price also works for multiples of 2. For example, a case (6 bottles) comes in at $47.97. Discount equalling $43.23 (RRP $15.20/Bottle x 6 = $91.20/6 bottles).

Postage for me was $6.90, or FREE click & collect which is usually what I end up doing.

Hope I've managed to save a few of you some hard earned $$$.

Cheers!

    Upvoting my familys wine :D

    • I stumbled upon it by chance when wanting more than just your average bottle of red, and I've never looked back. I haven't seen it at $8 ever!

Best price I ever managed in the past was $9/Bottle in a similar arrangement (2 for).

      • Is it as good as the 2013?

        • YMMV…

      Well hello there ;)

  • Had a bottle last night. Pretty good at $8 each but better around when at normal price. I will probably bet stocking up on a few before end of month for a "rainy day"

    • Totally agree! I tend to buy one of these plus 'something different' when I'm stocking up. However, when on special, I won't hesitate to grab a case.

    • Is this as nice as Pepperjacks?

      • Don't know, but I blind tasted this against a 2006 Bin 707 and the results were amazing. I went for the 707 each and every single time

Why don't you try comparing your Bin 707 against Chinese Tea? You may like the Chinese Tea instead :)

        • @Torres: user names checks out

Why don't you buy 2 for the same price?

      • Bought one…but collecting 2….lol

        • Then why don't you buy 4 instead :)

Note: 2 is the same price as 1 and 3 is the same price as 4? LOL, you are funny man!

        • @Torres: need to try it first…

  • Thanks for this. Got 4 as upcoming random gifts.

While at $8 a bottle it is value, it is only just. This Riddoch is a Woolies home brand. Google it, there is no Riddoch winery. Having said that, its not bad for a rebadged Clean skin, although i do have issues with this kind of marketing. If i didnt care about that id pay up to $10 for it again.

    • How does it compare to the everyday type of Wynns, Wolf Blass or Taylors? These are only a couple of dollars more.

      • +1

It drinks like a $13-18 bottle of wine. Good to have some of this as everyday drinking wine, and decanting it or at least letting it breathe improves it a lot

Sorry Torres, I actually dont know that much about Wine :-) Just what Ive tasted, I tend to do a cursory web search on them while drinking them. I just have issues with this type of marketing.

        • No problem mate. You are free to present your view! I do that all the times. Hardly buy anything without doing research - it's part of the process I guess :)

Chinese tea is cheaper. I highly recommend Chinese tea after trying it today.

    • It is named after John Riddoch who founded Coonwarra

      • +2

Yes it is, and its a clever bit of marketing that. Dont get me wrong, if you enjoy it, go for it, I just think buyers should be aware of the branding background. My view of it was probably influenced by that.

        • Genuinely curious to know where one would normally source this kind of info. Taints the purchase a little, but I myself, am curious to know for future purchases!

          Thumbs up

Edit: Were you referring to a Dan Murphy's cash back or the WISH eGift card?

Just finished my first glass. Big let down compared to the 2013 vintage which was at this price last yr.

    • +1

On my second glass, I quite like it for the money. Better than some of the other wines I have bought from deals on here lately.. Schwarz Wine Co GSM I'm looking at you…..

  • Just placed order for one case, costing $47.97. Hope it will be ready for collection tomorrow. And trust it will be worth $8 a bottle….

Bought 6, picked them up today and decanted a bottle for tonight.

BAD drinking. Returning them all. Save your money!!!!

Immature wine - if it can even be called that - closer to vinegar.

    • Can it be returned?

      • I bought six, read comments here later, decided to return it, no problem at all.

Not sure if you drank one bottle, decide to return 2nd bottle though.

Bought the wine, had it, puked. Whoever posted this piss, must be either a woolworths employee or a complete noob at wine.

Just wanted to reaffirm the above comments regarding this wine… It is horrible…
