  • 10% not 15%. Please fix title.

    • Oops- my bad. Good spot. Fixed. Thanks.

  • Is this worth doing?

I though I've read elsewhere that it isnt worth it…

    • -1

      It is…

    • The deal is normally 15% so unless you really have a booking to do now then it's not worth it.
If you never have plans to redeem a flight with the points then it's not really worth doing at all.

It depends on what you are redeeming for. For most standard awards you save money versus just taking the cas off groceries.
For Any Seat Awards it's not worth it. So check your dates of travel and see if there's a standard award first or change your date of travel.

Given that Velocity don't expire if you just earn one point every two years it can't hurt to send them across so they are there just in case you need them.

Thanks OP but personally I'll wait until September and see if they offer the 15% again.

  • Anyone know when will Velocity offer 15% off on points transfer from bank credit card reward system? Got some NAB reward points and being waiting for the transfer deal from Velocity.

    • They had one that just finished in June. Usually year end or half year end.

      • That was sweet, I had 40k ANZ points and got an additional 35% bonus redemption value.

  • is it ever worth transferring to velocity when they have all those bonus 10, 15,25% etc (flybuys, amex) and redeeming for gift cards via velocity, as opposed to the native cards that you originally earnt the points? (amex, flybuys etc)

    • It's usually never worth redeeming for gift cards using Velocity - flights always give better bank per buck or the flybuys cash off at Coles.

      • ok thanks. I'll stick to using the flybuys for cash off then. I just thought that sometimes you could tf to velocity from amex points or your flybuys etc and they give you extra 10-25% conversion, and thought that might outweigh the fact that their gift cards (for common places like grocery stores etc) aren't as cheap to redeem compared to redeeming directly through amex or your flybuys etc.

        • Flybuys are good for sending to Etihad for flights or Velocity for Flights.

I would personally never redeem for a gift card though or even cash off.

        • @daveozsydney:
if you were considering that option let me know as I may know people who would buy the points off you

  • Not in a hurry to redeem so I think I will wait for 15%. History indicates another 15% offer in 2nd half of year.

    • yeah good plan if you have no immediate needs.

      • Just got an offer for 15% bonus, targeted. Glad I waited.

  • Check your emails. Just got a targeted offer of an additional 5% bonus points
    So 10% (current bonus offer) + 5% (additional bonus offer) = 15%.

  • URL changed - just fixed it
