Freebies for Yarra Tram Users on St Kilda Rd (Melbourne)

580

Edit: Seems like a different freebie each day during AM and PM rush hour at stop 19.

Long time lurker, first time poster.

The Victorian Government is trying to keep some of us happy (tram users) for the tram line disruption on St Kilda Rd.

This morning at the bus transfer stop at The Shrine of Remembrance (stop 19), I got offered a Metro Tunnel branded travel mug (branding can be removed) and 1 x free coffee voucher to redeem at either Cafe Rosco or Earl Canteen (expires 23 July 2017). Not bad for having to leave home a bit earlier between 1-11 of July for the part closure of the tram line on St Kilda Rd. I'm all for the public transport upgrade!

Fantastic deal and saving the environment at the same time! Excellent job and welcome.

Did you forget the "/s"? :P

I don't know many people who actually keep/use these freebie travel mugs? Most either have bought their own (better) ones, or don't use them at all regardless that I'd say it's cost them more than it saves the environment in making these in the first place. (just my observation)

I got a free one from work I've never used. I use it hold my pens lol

        wait what did I forget?

          hehe, "/s" for /sarcasm.

It's the sort of freebie which I would've thought would be good when they first came in, but just over time don't think so any more. Better than an even more useless oldskool bumper sticker though I suppose lol

@dufflover: oh hahaha I am an idiot, thank you

  • Great find OP and nice to see a government putting it's actions where it's mouth is. Perhaps the NSW government could learn a lesson for those of us disrupted by the George St chaos?

    Thanks for sharing, OP :)

Probably coz the homeless people don't give the government any money.

Stop whinging and vote for a different government if you don't like it. Or do something to help the homeless yourself if you're that concerned.

Always about the homeless. Plenty of other issues out there then just homelessness. Get a grip.

    • On your way to becoming a SJW are we? A word of advice, don't.

  • Not a bad deal. Still better than the disposable cups i'm assuming.

Anyone know if it's still there? Wanna head there at lunch time…

  • nothing I can see. maybe just the morning hours thing.

  • are these mugs made of tin. It looks like a metal outer. Are they thick walled - i like travel mugs

    • The mug is not metallic at all, it's double wall plastic. The chambers can unscrew to remove the Metro Tunnel cardboard logo. I wouldn't think the Gov would be splashing out on metallic mugs, let alone plastic ones. There were also people handing out free cans of kombucha tea this afternoon at the Shrine of Remembrance tram stop, I got apple flavour :)

      • so the cans of kombucha tea where plastic tins too?

  • Looks like there's a different give away each day in the AM and PM rush hour.
I got a Chobani yogurt pouch this morning :)

  • gummy bears this morning…

    • I got a muesli bar
