There was a 500GB 2.5" drive for $50 that was a great deal, would buy some more if that sort of deal came up or even 640GB 2.5" with approx $60 price. Just need the space no extra useless features.

Your online ordering system is terrible. If you're not going to accept credit cards without ridiculous (and totally insecure) steps involved, then TELL ME FIRST, before I try to put in my order.

Once I saw that I had to scan in my credit card and such, I tried switching over to a direct bank deposit. I have not received any information about that via email, even though your site tells me that the email has been sent.

I now have no idea at all about the status of my order. Even though you have my credit card details, my order has supposedly been switched to a direct bank deposit but I don't know how much money to send. I'm not happy about this at all.

thanks for letting us know jarz, and hope you get this sorted. At least accept Paypal. I am not going to scan my credit card etc… so no purchase for me.

  • yeah $50 for 500gb drive sounds much better. 320gb is just not big enough. Its worthwhile to pay a bit more for 500gb.

  • Not accept paypal.

  • Do you have any deals for 500gb portable drives?

  • Give us a 120GB SSD drive for $49.99 and you have yourself a happy customer.

  • True that the 500GB 2.5" for $50 is a better deal but considering the difference in brands and the fact that the 500GB deal wasn't available nationwide, this is still a pretty good deal

  • this is the Passport Elite, has the capacity leds and longer warranty, considering RRP is $279 it's still a good price

  • yep and for what its worth i somewhat value the docking stations slightly more now.

i've lent out my USB external hdd out to friends and not everyone has treated it with care - now the the plug sits a bit loose.

so although i wouldnt pay the ~$30 RRP they generally charge for docking stations, I reckon it's pretty good that it's included.

  • Does the Passport Elite requires the Smartware s/w to be installed everytime you plug it to a PC? I use my portable drive as a "portable" drive, simply for transferring files from PC to PC, not for sync backup. I had a WD Passport before (not the Elite), everytime I plug the drive to a PC, it insisted on installing the Smartware, (especially on XP, sometimes you can get away from it on Vista). It got so annoying I returned the drive after a couple of weeks!

For porting files, I found the WD Elements SE a better option, except it looks real ugly…
