This will be cheap rubbish that will operate poorly and end up as landfill. Blades, batteries and spare parts won't be available in years to come and I would be wary of any claimed safety features and especially charging.

Better to buy a known brand with batteries that are compatible with other garden and power tools. I've used Bosch and EGO lithium mowers and can recommend both these brands and Ryobi are also supposed to be pretty good.

Bosch you can buy from the UK on eBay or Amazon UK or DE fit a reasonable price as well.

Be warned that Edisons is another trading name for AGR Machinery along with Mytopia. Any good reviews are generally false.

Their website is full of phony reviews or ones left when the product arrived. This is one review that sums it up - http://www.productreview.com.au/p/baumr-ag-bcx720.html

    Review from Whirlpool

"I'm sorry to say you have bought a pile of junk. Bought one of these off that mob and it was the biggest pile of rubbish, the plastics broke the motor and shafts would not lock into place and the pull stater broke on its second start and they refused to sent me a replacement even after I sent a picture of the broken unit, edisons are well known to sell junk and there support is not much better, good luck."

"It's worse. Alias 'agrmachinery' and 'mytopiastore'. They are scum and protected by the fleaBay rating system.
The Search tab on the left will find real experiences… keeping it local.. then there's google."

Edison's even posted a fake review in the thread…

And of course the master AGR machinery thread with hundreds of negative experiences that are all genuine.

and then read whirlpool and ozbargain, eg: https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/286720

I'm negging the deal because the company doesn't stand behind it's products, specifications are often misleading and warranty and parts are hard to come by.

I am currently in a situation where I had missing parts that they would not send me replacements for on my new purchase.
Currently they are refusing to do a partial refund via my payment method, only via banking transfer and I am not willing to give up my banking details.
I would prefer to just get the parts I need to use my purchase but they are not interested in sending me the missing parts.
I cant say I am that impressed with the after sales service or support.

    • I absolutely agree. This has continued for about 8 years now. The first item I ever bought on eBay was a brushcutter and I am pleased to say my instincts were right about avoiding this mob.

Thanks for the detailed post & covering members butts Maverick

  • I'm anti Ozito but there corded mowers are awesome value for money

  • This is what you should avoid. Very cheap build and after 3 months it took ages to start the motor.

Ps: i bought the petrol version

  • 36V is going to be crap for lawn mowing. It's not servicable by the looks either.

36V is going to be crap for lawn mowing. It's not servicable by the looks either.

36V is perfectly usable, we had a Bosch for quite a few years that worked really well for our lawns including mulching. Sure it struggled a little if the lawn was overgrown but it still got through it. We now use the Ego 56V mower and whilst it's more powerful you generally don't notice it. My wife prefers the Bosch because it was only just over 10kg whereas the Ego is around 35kg. The only reason I changed to Ego was the Masters closing down sale where I picked up all the Ego gear.

If you have a poorly maintained lawn full of gopher holes and tree roots you're best of sticking with petrol.

I'll second this, have an Ego myself. When the grass is left too long (LOL) you can hear it struggle in the thick patches and indeed sometimes (the safety??) it will cut out, just restart & take it slow on the redo and all is well. Petrol is stronger but for convenience electric has won me….would not like to go much under 56V though.

      • I have an Ego too! Love the thing - except i got it before the closing down sale. Kind of leaves it to die in serviceability and for more batteries!

Ego garden tools are still sold by plenty of retailers including TradeTools so batteries, spare parts, new equipment etc are all still available. Ego themselves are also trading in Australia via the importer Chevron.

    • You're wrong
My Ryobi can mow 5 nature strips on one 4 amp battery charge

  • Ah none of the review links are for the mower ?.

  • I bought this late last year. It does tend to just stop when the grass being cut is too thick (or damp) or if you've got it set too low, but you just move it off the thick stuff, press the start button, and it starts up again. The grass catch bucket thing is pretty small, and sometimes the grass gets clogged in that too. My old Honda petrol mower gave a much better result, but its a nice change to use a battery powered lawnmower. Its small, surprisingly light, quiet, and suits our current needs (mowing every fortnight, 200m2 area). YMMV.

    what a Baumr.

A bummer to deceive people to think this chinese crap is german.

      • They have been doing that for at least 9 years.

  • +3

OP these folks are negging the product and the company not you. Good on ya for posting the deal however as you now know it's not very good.

    • True … not OP's fault.

  • -1

It got 4.7 stars out of 5 on eBay rating and review. Can't be this bad…

  • For $50 more ($299), you can get the Ozito powerXchange system mower & blower + 2 batteries + 2 chargers pack from Bunnings.

    • Hi, can you provide the link to this, i cant find it on Bunnings site.

      • Sorry, should have clarified… you will need to check a few local Bunnings stores. A HUGE amount of the deals at Bunnings are store/region specific. That's why I didn't post this as a deal or vote.

        • ok, so which store did see the deal in?

        • +1

I don't think this link includes the blower

        • @pitpicker:
Sure - but in that case I can't find OP's on the Bunnings site either

    • Says $399 for me (as of 10/07/2017)

  • Not that the OP needs to answer some of the things said in this deal. But it would be good to hear their thoughts…

  • I'm sure the mower is OK if you're happy to throw it out in a few years, but I'd be VERY careful buying from Edisons. I know they don't stand behind their products or warranty. In an Ebay review of this mower a battery died, there apparently weren't any spare parts available so that was that….
