Just remember the King's funeral is on 26 October - expect BKK to be especially crowded / subdued (lots of places closed) around that time, and everyone wearing black for probably the whole month so pack accordingly.

    • Omg thanks for the info…. I will be in BKK on 27th for a layover >< will the day after be affected too?

      • TBH I'm not sure - the King held the throne so long there's not really anyone around that would know what normally happens.

I only know because I was considering going in late October and a friend living there mentioned it to me, so I asked a few more questions. Now I think I'll go early November.

I did a bit of googling and it looks like it's no good between October 25-29. Sigh and I booked a long layover in the hopes of doing touristy things. Thanks for the heads up, it would've been a rude shock to find out on the day.
