50% More Status Credits on Qantas Flights

190

Hello all!

Got an email from Qantas titled "50% more status credits on Qantas flights". I think it's targeted.

Email Extract below:

"There's never been a better time to book with Qantas. For a limited time, you'll be rewarded with 50% more Status Credits on eligible flights with a QF flight number on your ticket.*

You can enjoy this offer on an unlimited number of flights booked in the next 7 days so it's a great way to help get your Status Credits balance soaring.

Simply register and make a new booking between 12 July 2017 and 18 July 2017 for travel from 12 July 2017 to 9 November 2017. And don't forget to include your Frequent Flyer membership number in your booking."

Regards

  • Lucky. I haven't gotten these bonus status offers for a long while now (50% or double). But I know I'm not in that group to be targeted.

  • that link just goes straight to the confirmation page, did you have to enter your details anywhere to register? or are you already registered by being targeted?

    • Well i was looking for flights to Perth and i think Qantas picked that up and decided to send me an email with a link. Clicked on the link and it sent me to that page.

      • looking for flights to Perth …Qantas picked that up …sent me to that page

        Yes, that's how user-tracking works :-)

  • Pretty sure a link to the registration page is required to activate. Without a confirmation email confirming your own registration I am pretty sure you can expect issues with claiming the bonus (speaking from experience).

  • ^ I still haven't gotten those double points offered http://www.pointhacks.com.au/qantas-bonus-point-offers/ :(

    • I got my status credit bonus from 28Apr posted to my account on 4Jul but I usually get the points more quickly. Sometimes they wait til the end of the promotion to award them

The link is to a confirmation page and also ends with, "50-percent-status-credits-jul-2014"?

Yeah saw that. But my email says jul 2017 for the offer. Probably the Qantas team is lazy to create a new web page and just rehashed one of the older ones.

Whats the point in having these offers as targeted? Wont QANTAS have better response and customer engagement if all flyers were eligible for the offer? This whole targeted advertising concept makes little sense to me.

I believe these targeted offers are given to low frequency fliers who show some interest in booking with Qantas, as an encouragement to make that booking. They'd be looking for a specific return from this campaign. i.e. x bookings made from y fliers targeted.

If they opened to all, it would get more bookings overall, but also with a lot more credits handed out due to all the regular fliers who'd book anyway, without the offer. This results in higher costs to their scheme due to the cost of benefits handed out, and ultimately increased congestion in lounges. Bit of a balancing act, since giving gold+ benefits out has a cost, and also makes those in that group feel less privileged as there is more congestion.

  • I think this is targeted, since the terms and conditions state:

This bonus offer applies to travel taken by the recipient of this offer only (regardless of other passengers in the same booking), and is not transferable. Each passenger must register separately to be eligible for the offer.

    Marked as Targeted.

  • I got the email today….. although in my case it was for bookings made between "14 July 2017 and 21 July 2017". Worth checking your spam folder, basically.
