    Damn. That's a good price

  • Great price….cheaper than buying from a B&M shop in Hong Kong.

Looks like this one doesn't come with Case, USB cable etc… (if the description is accurate)

    • have to say i didn't notice that and just assumed that they are standard package….. but you might be right, hopefully I'll get mine to find out soon :)

      • +1

I sent them a message, will update if I get a reply. I'm keen on it if it comes with a case hey :) good find!

        We're on fellas:

New message from: eglobalcentral-au (5,457Green Star)
it has original package, carrying case and the USB cable.

  • OUCH .. Yesterday I ordered $173 .. damm

    • Same!

      • +1

i was close to pulling the trigger yesterday as well…….

    • LOL pulled the trigger but i hope DWI warranty is worth the price difference.

      • I think it is. But I've never had to use it. eGlobal warranty is terrible according to google and whirlpool.

The usual eglobal story seems to be that you buy the product, they have no stock but don't tell you. So you ask where it is a couple of weeks later and they tell you and hopefully give you a full refund. There's paypal here so it's worth the risk.

        • I can still cancel my DWI order and save $20 here but I'm more concerned about the long run if something happens which will be better. They both have pretty bad reviews lol

        • @superezra: For me, I've spent over 5k with them over the last 5 yrs. Never had an issue. I might just be lucky, but I'm happy to keep this luck going for as long as I can. :)

  • Great product. My iphone 7+ balances fine with an ultrathin case fitted, unlike the DJI Osmo.

    ive just checked with eglobal:

'it comes with original package, usb cable and the carrying case

    thanks'

Will this work on a water bed?

Yep. Just hold it with your left hand…

Will this work with a Samsung S8?

Will this work with a hamster?

Can I just say though, there are lotsssss of positive short term reviews but I cant find anything long term. There are reports of the plastic that holds the tripod mount breaking, unit suddenly not charging, incompatibility with iphone 7 plus image stabilisation and more. I joined the manufacturers support fb grouo and liked the page and its all just spam links and any real request for support is ignored. :|

    • I've seen a few reviews mention the issue with OIS too. Does this happen with other gimbals?
The odd thing is some of the reviews look quite smooth even though they're using a 7 plus too.

      • I originally wanted an osmo but that had a lot more peolle saying there was issues.

    • Is that the Facebook group?

The official sellers are on there. PM them, they're quite responsive.

    • It's because you can't really switch off the Optical Image Stabilisation on the iPhone.

It's well explained here (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pHJTs-7TkmA&feature=youtu.be…). This is for the Osmo Mobile but it's the same issue with the Smooth Q.

This video suggests the zhuyin App handles it better. I was planning on getting filmic pro though.

      • That video you linked suggests it's just the osmo app at fault… Wonder if filmic will be ok

        • Yes it's just about the Osmo App.

So might not be relevant for the Zhiyun app.

I'm using Filmic pro with the Osmo mobile, and didn't notice any issue.

  • Will this work with a Samsung S8 Plus?

Hey guys, I have one of these. Got the first batch supplied to Aus for $189 delivered.

Just be mindful that one of the motors cooked in mine. I had only used it a handful of times and always store it in the case.

I'm about to send it back to the Aus supplier I got it from. Just make sure these guys have a returns policy just in case yours is a dud like mine.

Outside of that, they're a heap of fun. There's two Zhiyun apps (one is for recording and the other is for balancing etc). They tend to update them quite often.

Just to note: I'm using an iPhone 6S.

    • Ive had experience with returning a product to dwi, it was very long winded but not complicated. I would expect the same from this mob. 6-8 week is normalturn around. This is normal globally as domestic servicing for nikon, sony and samsung products for me have been 5-8 weeks in my experience. 😂

      • How was the customer service with warranty claims for DWI?

        • Took a while and they threatened that if there was no issue found i would get charged freight both ways and the inspection fee. It was okayyy though, my tamron 90mm was clearly borked out of the box

      • They probably supplied to the place I got it from in Sydney.

Glad to know it's all sorted now.

Is the android app still gimped?

"The gimbal itself has proven to perform very well with the LG G5 in a case. Set up and balance is a snap, and cycling through the modes is quick and intuitive. The functionality of the thumb stick works well, and i have found that my video files are super smooth. This is what earns the Smooth-Q a 4-star rating from me.

Now for the biggest con - the android APP…
a BIG reason i purchased this was for the motion time lapse functionality. Well guess what is missing completely from the android version of the app…motion time lapse functionality. Other things missing from the android version of the app (but present in the iOS ver) include panorama mode and manual controls for the camera.

I guess i should have done more research, but learning this fact last night after searching for 2 days on how to get those features to work, was incredibly disappointing. The gimbal is GREAT, but Zhiyun-tech, i implore you…PLEASE bring the android app up to par with the iOS app. Limiting the functionality of 50% of your users (made up statistic) is just not right. this item is 5 stars if the app worked as hoped."

    • Completely agree. Fortunately I didn't buy mine primarily with that feature in mind but it was something I was very interested in (motion timelapse). I had a check in the Play Store and looks like the last update was April 19th.

    • does the tracking feature work on android?

      • +1

The tracking feature works but it's not great. I've found it's worked best tracking an an object that contrasts to the background and only when moving relatively slowly.

For example I tested it with a black drink coaster on a white table and it worked ok, but with a grey coaster on the same table it seemed to struggle to recognise what it was trying to track.

  • Great product, get plenty of inquisitive looks when using mine. Only negative personally is using an Android phone it doesn't support a panorama or timelapse mode, those features at the moment are only available to iPhone users.

    • I'm using apps outside of this. The Instagram based app called "Hyperlapse".

      • I've heard of that one but I don't think it controls the movement of the gimbal. I should have been more clear and said 'motion timelapse'. As I understand with the iOS version of the app you can set a movement of the gimbal over an amount of time and it will make a nice motion timelapse.

        • Haven't had the chance to use that.

Hopefully when my issues are fixed I'll get on it.

          Thanks.

  • Price is $165 now, $156.75 using 5% off.

  • Any recommendations for a non-phone similar gimbal? I have a mirrorless camera/compact DLSR.

    • Zhiyun also make a gimbal called crane-m.

    • For a bigger slr with heavier lenses… the Zhiyun crane v2 is the one to go for… i think when there's a good discount on that ill get it as it'll make a god pairing with this gimbal….

  • What kind of videos are people shooting with this?

    • Just youtube smooth q. The good stuff requires a lot of work in post production eg davinci resolve.

  • +1

i dont need it but i want it

    • The eternal ozbargainer struggle

    • +1

You may need it someday. Just buy it.

      • Lol…. the question i ask myself is whether ill use it before the price drop below this great price now 😀

  • +4

I don't like the fact, that he upped the price after it gets listed on ozbargains.

    • That's how the free market works.

  • Yeah, Exactly me too, do not like the fact that they increased the price after it gets listed on ozbargain. If anything like other seller, there should be even more discount for Ozbargainers. So thats why, I didn't go for it. I was going to otherwise. Even, though I bought the Yuneec Q 500 and it came with a handheld Gimbal. Not sure how this compares, but I know its just for the phone and Yuneec is with the camera attached.

    • Its a shame that the price went up but its still a pretty decent price… at the same time being as ozbargainer.. a pretty good is just not acceptable 😀

  • Can you use this with a hero 5? Maybe there's an adapter that you can use?

    • +1

No adaptor needed, there is a vertical model for mobile phone which is perfect for gopro (in horizontal).

  • By the way, what was the original price when it came up on Ozbargain?

    • It was $150.10 (ie 5% off the listed price of $158) and they have upped it to $165 (which mean it's now $156.75) so andrew increase of $6.65…

It's still a pretty decent price just not as good as it was initially

  • dad bought one from china web before, didnt even come with manual

  • Sold out

  • Back in stock, just bought

How's everyone enjoying their gymbal? I got mine yesterday. It's kinda cool, but still figuring out best way to use it for filming.

    • i got mine a few days ago and am loving it…. however i'm getting some micro vibration but i think it might be user error and have to read more and test more with it…. otherwise, I have probably shot more with my phone and gopro in the past few days then i have the past year…….

      • how are you attaching your gopro to it? I've got a hero4 silver that has rarely been used!

        • +1

i've changed the gimbal to the vertical orientation and literally mount the go pro onto the phone holder… it grip onto the gopro4 really good (nice and tight) .. i've seen that there are go pro mounts you can buy to change the shape to fit onto phone mounts but i'm happy with how i'm doing it atm…. (i think it won't work with go pro 5 due to the different size)
