My freezer is still full from the last one!

    • Better get cooking! Have you enjoyed your meats so far?

      • Really good mate. Some of the stuff was not quite sealed in the cryovac which I wasn't too sure about but most of it went in the freezer anyway and all in all it was a pretty stellar deal! (30% off blues code - I have a freezer chockers with chicken!)

        Thanks mate :-)

    • Same here, LOL.

  • Would buy this but WA no deliveries.

    :(

  • Possible to get both the lamb leg & whole chicken swapped out for freezer-friendly/single-meal-size meat portions?

    • frozen and premium meat …… does that work …… the ice crystals break the cell structures and hence thawed meat has different texture and leakes water and juices ….

      • Life is rarely perfect and a freezer beats the hell out of binning half a meat hamper… That's before the meat survives my cooking anyway…

        • I can vouch that the chicken is still amazing after defrosting. I'm pretty happy with it. Didn't freeze any of the red meats though, just worked my way through them over the period of the use by date!

  • Are the pork/bacon products sow stall-free?

    • What about castration free? Tail docking free? Teeth pulling free? Kidnap free? Branded with a hot iron free? Slaughter free?

Why be so selective with your concern about a particular torture?

      • In before this gets downvoted to ashes. I eat pork and I do it with a fairly heavy conscious knowing how badly they are treated. But yeah, I'm a little selfish.

It's good that people are asking about the ways in which animals are processed though. You are going to get downvoted and yelled at to oblivion and you deserve it for making this go aggressive. These conversations can be civil. Progress in farming practices is good in a world that isn't about to instantly go vegan.

I always find it perplexing that when expressing a position like this on Internet forums I get called aggressive or militant by those who are actually funding or doing the real dishing out of misery and death - actual physical aggression and actual militancy - on innocent animals.

        • @thevofa: Look you are not wrong. Veganism, or just being a vego is objectively better for the environment and with enough people on board, it saves lives (or stops the poor bastards ever being born anyway).

But for better or worse, people hate being attacked for eating meat. And they don't suddenly go 'oh crap, I'm flawed - I'm vegan now' but instead just hate on vegans.

For the sake of the cause, pick your tone. Attacking people in conversation has a Newtonian effect - it just comes back at your with an equal and opposite reaction. If you approach it in a way that is less attacking, the thought lingers in their heads and you might actually redeem a few souls.

Just my 2c. Do as you like, though. I'm thinking of cutting down on meat at the moment and it's not because someone yelled at me.

        • @krunchymoses:

For the sake of the cause

An exploiter of animals telling me how to help stop exploiting them. Nice!

@thevofa: Okay, you win. I hate vegans again.

          Good work.

        • @krunchymoses: If you want to get an idea of how to be effective in communicating a cause, it's worth looking up the four stages of social change movements. There are people online discussing how that pertains to animal rights causes and it gives a very good idea of how to help shape opinions and how these things eventuate in actual success. If you post annoying comics and attack people you are losing hearts and minds and you are better off staying quiet as far as internet babble goes.

        • @krunchymoses: If you already know what "my" cause is then I'm not sure why you keep trying to tell me how to communicate it. Seems to me the sticky point here is you not wanting to accept the cause rather than me not getting the message across. You're making this about me but it's not. Hate me, that's fine, but don't take it out on the pigs and just get with the cause if you think it's good. I dislike jv - doesn't mean I'm never going on Ozbargain again.

        • @thevofa: I'll leave it here as we won't go anywhere with it. Peter Chen's book is very worth checking out if you want an idea of the political science side of animal activism

          He is bloody amazing.

        • @krunchymoses: Just two days ago I spoke with a 10yo child who decided to live vegan because she knew "Animals are feeling, like people, so should be treated properly." When I compare that to your sophistry and externalism I have high hope that this world will become less violent with coming generations. You may make all manner of appeals but in the end you are, with respect to exploiting animals, in charge yourself and responsible for your own actions. I sincerely hope, in the nicest possible way, that you are uncomfortable with yourself till you own it and stop as you indicate you already know you should.
