Just an FYI that this is the only Galaxy S-flagship series that doesn't have an SD card slot, which did not go down well with Samsung fanbase.

Samsung quickly learned from their mistakes though and added it back into their next S7 :)

    • I totally had forgotten about this

    • +2

Also the s6 is not water resistant whatsoever. It was a bit of a disappointment in that regard, but I still like mine. Only upgrading since the battery has decided to die rather quickly.

      • +2

Only upgrading since the battery has decided to die rather quickly.

Another annoying change from S5 to S6 - non-replaceable battery.

        • same with s7 and s8, only thing holding me back from upgrading.

        • +1

@pretz92: Yep, after four Samsung flagship phones in a row, I finally jumped ship and picked up the LG V20 on one of the awesome deals last month. MicroSD and replaceable battery on top of other awesome features. Very happy with my decision.

    • Thanks! I saw this and figured I'd upgrade my wife's S5 to this, but this reminder put an end to that.

  • Some dumb questions from me, is it dual sim and does it work on the Vodafone network?

    • well, the listing title says "single sim" and pretty sure it'll work on the vodafone network

    • +5

      It's Single-Sim rather than Dual-Sim.

Yes, it does work on the Vodaphone AU network.

The Standard AUS frequencies are as follows:
      3G - 850MHz (B5) – Telstra
3G - 900MHz (B8) – Optus, Vodafone – available in most metro areas on Optus
      3G - 2100MHz (B1) – Telstra, Optus, Vodafone

      4G - 2100Mhz (B1) – Telstra (a handful of sites), Optus (Tasmania), Vodafone
      4G - 1800Mhz (B3) – Telstra, Optus, Vodafone
      4G - 850Mhz (B5) – Vodafone
      4G - 2600Mhz (B7) – Telstra, Optus
      4G - 900Mhz (B8) – Telstra (a handful of sites, utilises spectrum previously used by 2G)
      4G - 700Mhz (B28) – Telstra, Optus
      4G - 2300Mhz (B40) – Optus (Vivid wireless spectrum)

  • This phone actually held its value well, I got mine two years ago for $570, not bad for an android

    • -1

Not sure whether that's a good or bad thing for us bargain hunters… :-)
What's worse is the 4+ year old Galaxy S5 that stores are still trying to flog for $350-$400!

      • Galaxy S5 is just over 3years old. Not 4.

        • +2

Sorry, you are correct! Released April 2014 so that makes it 3+ yrs, excuse my maths!!

      • I am using S5 that I bought from Harvey Norman deal on Christmas day 2015. Will probably use it for another year until it kicks the bucket before that. :)

  • +1

I still use my S6 as there is nothing I have found worthy to replace it.

    • +5

      Galaxy s7 so much better

      Micro sd card slot
      Water resistant
      Better battery life
Nice to hold in the hand with it's curved back.
      then the normal faster
      better camera

Thats why i upgraded from my s6 to my current s7 Not as interested in the s8.

      • Hey m8, hows the camera?
I know iPhone's camera is pretty good but overpriced.

S7 has telephoto but just wondering if the S6's is also good.
I've got a xiaomi and the low light is pretty regular.

  • +2

    what's the battery life like?

I'm still hunting for something that comes close to the LG G2.

    • +3

      then get the lg g6

    • +1

I had the LG g2, moved to the Galaxy S5, now the Galaxy s7. Note all of these were 5 inch devices.

I think the S7 has the superior battery life out of all three despite it having exactly the same battery size as the G2.

    • Look at the Moto X Play or the Z play. Much better than my previous G2.

    • +1

Terrible. I only get less than 2 hr screen time.

    • moto g5 plus

  • Since this comes with Australian warranty would we also be eligible for a TRS claim?

    • Delivered (HK) @ ShoppingSquare

      No

    • +1

also, I am guessing its not Samsung Aust warranty but the sellers warranty.

  • Is this a better buy with the C5OZ code, $331.55?

    http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/NEW-SEALED-BOX-SAMSUNG-GALAXY-S6-…

    • From the listing, it looks like that listing supplies the SM-G920V or SM-G920T versions, which are US - Verizon and T-Mobile respectively. I don't think they have all the Bands for Australia, but this might not matter to some people. Might be worth sending them a message to check if you're keen?

    • +1

i have a 10% off code to used purchased this one from your link. thanks

  • -6

looking for a decent USED S6 for $100 (so i can use it as for my Gear VR), didn't want bolt my s8 with installing VR apps that are must to run. heard it drains battery even when not using them.

    • +2

You're not going to get even the S5 for that kind of price. I sold mine for almost 260.

  • S6 is great one But you have to buy 128GB version. 32GB is pointless…

    • +5

Might be for you but not everyone.

    • my 16gb phone is fine, ive only used like 3 gb. Music and videos are all in the cloud, have an aldi plan that gives me 3.5gb per month for 20 bucks. Not everyone needs local storage. photos on google photos.

  • +1

I have the s6 great phone but bad battery life

  • Was about to buy one but it said shipping 11-15 business days. Could end up being a month away makes me hesitant with these things …

Googling shows a couple of sellers @339, not sure about shipping?
    https://www.becextech.com.au/catalog/sams632gbblk-nrc-p-7363…

    • +2

With Becextech they charge around 70 to 100 dollars for postage. They price their products low so they appear to be cheap on price comparison sites. At least until you are at the checkout screen and factor the postage cost

      • ok thanks understood. Also a little more comfortable inside the ebay system, although not over pleased with them lately.

  • Just be aware - Shopping Square has been known to sell second hand stuff as new.

A score of 2.2/5 based on 287 reviews here:

    https://www.ozbargain.com.au/deals/shoppingsquare.com.au

  • +2

Just bought an S7 second hand.
    Much better than 6.
Waterproofing and SD card slot are winners in my books.

  • +1

g5 plus is better. better battery, better software. camera is about even on both devices. s6 wont be getting android O.

  • had a S6 for just over a year, reasonable camera, good flash, smooth operation, love the nfc and since the socket broke keep charging wirelessly but it made the battery bulge and as a result the protective glass cracked but it works fine.

GPS is quick and gets also Russian and Chinese as well as Japanese satellites but hard to navigate with gps off and when on batt does no longer last a day.
Compared to the HTC Velocity it is a pain as the HTC gave reasonable navigation without the gps on. Used towers and wifi.
Endless cases at K mart, some free (priced at 2c)
bluetooth transfer is not a race, anybody got more experience??

Ah display works great for beep n go it is worth the money

  • Taking a long time to ship.

  • Still waiting. Hard to know why they take sooooo long to deliver, because all it will do is upset customers who'll think twice next time.

    • Yeah, that's pretty poor form!
Have they responded to any of your requests for updates?

      • Haven't contacted them yet. Ordered 18th, 3 weeks ago.
Ebay's estimate was 2nd Aug to 9th Aug which seems ridiculous for Hong Kong in the 21st century.
Marked sent on 26th but no tracking number.
