  • NOTES: A power plug adapter is required.

I'm sure most will have a spare cord lying around. Else you can buy one of these IEC C13 power cords from just about anywhere.

    • Not sure if it matters, but all the Aussie power cables I've seen are 3 pin and earthed, this unit will only take a 2 pin?

      • It doesn't matter - most modern equipment simply doesn't connect the earth pin.

        • +1

That's not true, all PC power supplies I've seen have an earth and are 3 prong.

And my understanding is, being a safety feature, anything that isn't double insulated and with exposed metal is earthed.

        • @Scab:

It depends on the design - not everything with exposed metal must be earthed. Equipment with a completely isolated power supply (or hot side) within can come without earth - for example range hoods. Certain TVs/amplifiers have an isolated third ground (floating ground) inside the equipment.

        • @Scab:
"That's not true, all PC power supplies I've seen have an earth and are 3 prong."

But if there was a PC power supply with no earth, just like this Amplifier, then it would still work just fine in a 3-pin Australian power socket.

That's the point here - the lack of Earth is a none-issue, providing the piece of equipment has been designed accordingly. It will work just fine in Australia without any safety concern - if such a concern did exist, then everyone in Europe would be exposed to that danger !

        • @Nom:

Yes but that's different to saying "most modern equipment simply doesn't connect the earth pin".

      • The plug end on the power cord will fit perfectly into the Marantz socket. There is no earth pin in the socket by design, so it's not like you're intentionally bypassing the earth and creating an electrical risk.

  • Amazon UK Price used to be very good.

  • for the experts, if space isn't an issue, this marantz deal or the denon for a little bit more https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/318728

been seeing the mention of the upcoming nr1608. The NR1607 "silver" have been hovering roundabouts 700aud price on amazon uk.

Leaning towards the denon.. what do u guys think or recommend?

    • Denon would be my pick. Main benefit the 1400 has over this marantz is the watt per channel. If u intend to run decent fronts this one might be underpowered
