15” MacBook Pro with Touchbar (2016) from $2668.05 @ iFrog ($2534 with OW Price Beat)

220

Follow up from my previous post , except now the price has reduced a further 250$.
With OW price beat, you can snag a 2016 15" MBP for 2534$. That's over a whopping 1000$ in savings and nearly puts this laptop at a reasonable price!
Only difference between the base '16 model and base '17 model is that the '17 model has a 0.2ghz faster Kaby Lake processor. Definitely not worth paying up to nearly 1000$ extra for imo.

Models above the base model are similarly priced too. E.g. 512gb model is 2918$. Or if you'd prefer the '17 model, they're nearly 500$ off already, starting at 3048$

Available in both space grey and silver.

  • OW out of stock for a long time.

    • nah there's still stock online in both colours for the 256gb model and in silver for the 512gb model https://www.officeworks.com.au/shop/officeworks/p/macbook-pr…. Just gotta give them a call to price match when buying online.
Also, there was a couple left when I bought mine in Joondalup [WA] a few days ago despite showing out of stock online. So there's probably a small amount lurking in a few stores

Perhaps you were confused with the 13" model?

      • I've added back to the title the OW price beat price assuming it was deleted due to thinking it was out of stock in OW. Apologies if I'm wrong in doing so!

  • Called OW and since they have the 2016 models as 'Clearance' they will not honour 'Lowest price Guarantee'. Still cheap for this product by any means.

    • That sucks. I guess I was pretty lucky to get OW to honour the price beat when I purchased mine then!

  • How would this compare to a 13" MPB nTB base but with upgraded ram to 16gb. (~2419 aud from education store)?

    • Most people opt for the 15" for its much superior internal specs. Great option compared to 13" model for video editing, music production, DJing and other high demanding tasks. A bigger screen also is good for watching movies etc.
I'm no expert, but I'd personally recommend perhaps a 512gb 15" model if your budget can stretch for it but if none of the above entices you, then perhaps save your money and get the 13" model

      • That's a good point, and I was just about to buy, but then I saw the 20% ebay sales.

        So it's this 2570$ 15 inch 2016 256gb/16gb vs. 1729$ 13 inch nTB 2017 256gb/8gb (eBay) …

Both are super cheap for their prices…… But one is 600+ cheaper.

        What do you think?

        • Ooo. Can't go wrong tbh. Both are great prices for a MBP. I'd probably opt for the 13" unless you require the extra ram or really want the bigger screen
