    Some of those stopovers look a little bit more bearable with Cathay for $1188.

    • Agreed. And if you did have a long layover, HK would be my preference.

      • In the air, you'd be more comfortable flying Qatar's a380 or a350 though. Although I also prefer a stop in HK over the Middle East at the moment, especially with the Qatar ban (which also adds an extra 45-60 mins to the flying time in my experience).

        • True - I hadn't taken the airframe choice into account. But yes, if I've got to have a long layover (sometimes a curse but can be a bonus), I'd prefer HK, Singapore etc. over a Gulf stop.
