  • As pointed out, was posted much cheaper on Ozbargain before. And that was without box damage.
Keep in mind that Spotify won't work on these anymore as they abandoned Australia. Previously, you could stream Spotify for free (and virtually without adds) at 128kbps from home audio devices. So the value of this device has diminished IMO.

You mean Pandora abandoned Australia, Spotify is still very much going :)

      • Yep, Pandora. Which I never bothered with anyway.

Yes, my bad. I meant Pandora. Sorry, can't edit comment anymore.
Got confused because I have been busy moving stuff to Spotify.

        • But that's the case with every speaker brand. This does Airplay, Bluetooth, and Spotify. What else could you want?

        • @fredblogs: Yes, other speaker brands are affected too.
What I want? Good things for free, because this is Ozbargain!
I bought a Sony mini hifi system below cost from DS thanks to Ozbargain, and (according to Pandora stats) have enjoyed many thousands of hours of music virtually without adds (sometimes one in 3 months?) at high quality (128kbps) over a period of years. Now, after Vtuner and Pandora were disabled, no more music streaming.

Pandora was the only way to get high quality streamed music for free. With that gone, the value of a device like this one (and similar ones) has gone down. Still good if you have a Spotify subscription of course.

        • @Make it so: I also have a Sony device which has lost both vTuner and Pandora. That's why I'm looking at a Yamaha to replace it. Sony seems to abandon their products more than Yamaha musiccast.

128kbps is actually low quality. You can get Spotify really cheap if you jump through a few hoops: https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/279292, although I just pay full price because it's so great.

        • @fredblogs: Pandora is leaving Australia end of this month, but Sony turned Pandora off straight away. Vtuner was because of a disagreement between Sony and VTuner. They couldn't reach agreement, so that got switched off too. Shame….

128kbps is "okay", because at least it covers the whole frequency spectrum (especially with a good compression type). Below 128kbps, the bass and trebble start lacking. But yes, full-quality Spotify is noticeably clearer.

Thanks for that link. A few too many hoops for me :)
I may wait for an opportunity to be adopted by an AU Spotify family. Tried starting my own, but family members too stingy and they don't care about music enough.

  • any coupon for 2ndworld?
    $19 for post..:(

  • These are quite large to sit on a desk. They are better on the walls, but the power brick is huge :-(
