These are abslute rubbish Modems, always dropping out,,,do yourself a big favour and stay clear. Red the forums and see.
3 out of every 5 are crap ! Support is miserable, waiting 2 weeks for a response now, not helpful and the business is loosing money fast so I just went out and got ifferent brand modems, so much beter now.

I installed about 5 of D9, everyone happy till now. No line drop out, no wifi drop out.

    • I've owned a couple of these purchased during past sales I found on OzB. Each time I ended up selling them as their performance doesn't stack up to the claims.

The DSL worked fine so apart from not having the ability to manually define the SNR for additional speed, no issues there.

What really annoyed me was the Wi-Fi range on them. Anything more than a couple of internal walls, or more than ~15m away from the unit, and the 5GHz band could no longer be detected, by laptop, or desktop Intel Wi-Fi cards (AC7260, AC8260, etc. Billion, or Draytek units I own easily beat this in this regard.

I've dealt with DSL hardware in the technical support field since ~2001 (OZ,UK,Germany,Israel), so have no issues understanding line/hardware limitations, etc. but this particular model (given the release price) just didn't live up expectations.

Support for their hardware in releasing new firmware addressing issues reported by users seems non-existent for this model.

For $150 with the addition of the extender is a decent buy.

Check the forums, there must have been a bad batch..
Just to elaborate on the support issues, I tried different filter, new phone line, etc, then tried diff brand modem and finally it worked fine !! Tried new firmware on D9 crap, tried another new D9 crap , changed settings etc and still over 30 dropouts a day ……. Voip phones out and loosing many customers each day.
Support still insisted me dumping the modems log file in debug mode only while it was dropped out with one finger on my head, whistling. ,… Then and only then they would investigate ! Still waiting 2 weeks now, tried to call andn chat , Nada !

So what do you recommend then?

      • tp link have a new VR range with sim spec but new gen chips and hardware …… i have the vr600 which does up to ac1200 and it's great ……. i'd imagine firmware support would be thinning on their old range when they have a new range they want to promote. also nice is usb g4 modem support came in handy when cable pit flooded and lines fixed.

    • Sounds like the experience I'm currently having with Optus. Different modems though. It's brutal trying to get their support to do anything, there testing methodology is 'run a speed test please'.
*unrelated I know apologies I just need to vent.

      • It's why ISPs quote "up to speeds" not minimum speeds.

My line went faulty after flood … speed dropped from 21mb down to 5 mbit ….. 4 weeks later I' was on new cable pairs and back to 21mb ……

It's a good reason to use Telstra for broadband …. expensive but they do end to end ………I'm on TPG and so somethings are done telstra tech some by TPG tech ….. hence 4 weeks and 3 techs.

Don't get me wrong, Im no afficionado in Modems, but I know this batch was so bad, and the support matched the product , so sorry Dlink but you get a 3./10 from me. I don;t kow wht modems are best today, I do have about 15 diff modems here, some Dlink and they work OK.

This is TP-Link, not DLink though?
