  • Nice phone, if you don't care the camera. Otherwise it is a perfect one. I had this one for 1 month, changed to a iPhone se due to the slow focus camera

    • +9

A friend of mine have this and camera is actually pretty good, specially low light performance with f/1.8 aperture. And OIS works great too.

  • +1

How is the phone? Does it last a day?

  • no micro SD card slot is letdown

    • +20

      128gb though…

      • Microsd is great for prolonging the life of the NAND though. It's not always a storage size thing.

        • +3

true but by the time it dies, you probably would've been through at least 10 new phones already

        • +1

          @CVonC:

Not at all. I ran a commerical flash memory diag on my Moto X Pure on day one (2015) and day of decommision in May 2017 and it showed serious degradation.
It doesn't take long, even with good wear levelling to reduce the memory's performance enough to be noticable, and then annoying.

  • why is the black so much more expensive? :(

    • +1

This production line has been canceled after Lenovo bought Moto. So now only Moto brand left, no more Zuk. Since the beginning of Zuk Z2, Lenovo didn't make too many blacks. My one was white as well. With Chinese Rom, followed the instructions to change language to English, but still not 100% English.

      • makes sense to streamline production as both brands are in the same price bracket, and the moto have band 28 so can sell globally . last week when my moto x flashed to android 7 now says moto but lenovo when it boots. So many more phones with full english support 1080p screen and band 28 available now .for under $400 …. not like 2 years ago when you got a xiaomi and had to reflash.

        https://www.gizmochina.com/2017/07/01/zuk-brand-dead-ceo-hin…

There's reports in China that ZUK may not be totally "dead" and some info about the Z3 are out. Not sure how real the "leak" is though since with those specs (SD835/6GB), edge to edge screens and all will not be cheap to manufacture. It will end up being a full premium phone as opposed to "lets cut a premium phone down to a cheap mid range price".

I told you OzBargain, I'm happy with my phone and I don't (profanity) need another great priced well spec'd phone, I'm happy! Damn it!

    • lol

  • This or Mi5 ?

which has a better camera ?

    • How about Mi5s. Its camera is absolutely better than these two.

    • Mi5.
Xiaomi phones are a lot more trusted, the MIUI rom is very nice and battery efficient. And had a massive community behind it, plenty of custom ROMs for your choosing.

      • The build quality is poor though. Check out JerryRigEverything's bend test on it

        • Oh wow I'd honestly never heard of that point. Is this a present issue in the ceramic one as well?

        • @Spooderman: I don't know. Check his videos to find out. I only know about the Mi5 so I can't really say

  • 6GB RAM is it necessary?

    • +2

at this price, I don't mind

    • +3

      yeah.

    • +1

no 6gb ram isn't necessary but it helps to stand out from all the 3gb phones ….. not sure what people, are running with 6gb that wouldn't be chewing up,the batteries ……. not even windows 10 and word and excel running takes up 6gb.

      • +1

It allows more things to be loaded at once and your tabs to not keep refreshing.

  • $350!!!????!!!!! That's an awesome price.
Can't even get a 3 year used scratched up no warranty iPhone for that price.

    • +3

      ~$330 after cashback

      • there we go

        • No like to post, that's what I mean. lol

    • +2

But you can get a 3-year old; new/unused android flagship for this price

    • why ? what's wrong with SD820 ?

      • +2

        It's last-gen.
But for this price, you can't really complain.

    • +8

It is the SD 810 you should be wary of, not the 820.

  • This or the Samsung S6?

    • +1

I hear battery life on the S6 leaves a lot to be desired. Best to watch reviews on YouTube first.

    • probably better support for updates on samsung and also has band 28 and full english support ……

      • S6 is almost 3 years old. Even if there is update, there's only a few months left.

      • Samsung? Update support? The Z2 Pro received 7.0 months before my S7 did… S6 is probably ending on 7.0, whereas there's talk about the Z2 Pro getting 7.1.

English support and band 28, on the other hand, are pretty good reasons to stick with the S6. Additionally warranty support from Samsung is always pretty good, my S7 had issues, walked into the store, walked out with a totally different phone, no hassles. Hard to do that with a Lenovo.

    • +1

Fork out $100 more and get an LG G6 :)

    • +6

It is actually 0.5mm thinner than Samsung Galaxy S8.

    • +8

Someone at your local cafe mustn't like you very much if you think a thickness of 8.5mm = 2 slices of raisin toast.

      • +1

Must gotten one from them hipster cafe. The ones selling smashed avo on toast.

        • +1

What's wrong with 'smashed avo on toast' at only $15 a slice?? And it's probably organic-vegan-keto-gluten free too!

  • Would this phone be good on the aldi network (Telstra reseller) I just have seen a lot of comments about band 28 and a bit confused… Do all towers operate on multiple bands and you shift between when the network is congested or do they only operate on the one hand so your phone used a tower further away?

    • +1

towers have multiple bands but not all bands ……. and the phone doesn't switch at times of congestion it will connect via the best signal and stick with it. so band 28 first choice if phone and tower support , if not then it picks next best.

if you have one of the newer phones they will use 2 bands for data so ultra fast downloads ….. faster than nbn copper in many instances.

you can get utilities that show the tower and bands you connect to so you can optimise for where you live and travel patterns …. eg what bands do,i get on my trip to work and why the speed varies or if you use at home if you don't have wired broadband at home.

I've got the Zuk2 and I'd highly recommend spending the time unlock the bootloader and install the AICP Rom. Happy to help.

    • Hey Kaboda,

I'm a new users but I wanted to ask what's the advantages of unlocking the bootloader and installing the AICP rom? Any risk of it going bad etc?

      • Installing custom roms are not without their risks. You could brick your device if you don't know what you're doing.

        • Thanks xoom.
I've never rooted or modified my phones (I'm not even sure what the advantages anda ll are) so I'll just leave it at that :)

      • My phone was the international version with no updates. I used it for six months and it got to the point that it the CPU was overheating all the time and the battery drain and life was horrendous.

I reset it a few times then decided to switch the rom all together.

I'd likely recommend it just from my experience.

  • Does any one know when sim1 using 4G, can sim2 still able to use 3G at the same time? Thanks.

    • +2

Yes, confirmed on Vodafone, Optus and Telstra Sims

      • I mean the dual sim feature, like P9 if sim1 using 4G,sim2 only has 2G available, in other words, such dual sim is useless in Aus.

        • I mean what you want to know. Tested by 3 different sims

        • Have u test the dual sim standby? can sim1 use 4G & sim2 use 3G? Thanks

        • @jackystudio: YES I DID

        • -2

          @sydracing:
          so both 4G & 3G standby ok?

        • +4

          @jackystudio:
Pretty sure they already answered you 3 times.

          But just to recap;

          Yes.

          Yes

          And YES!

        • +1

          @nismo: I like your answer

        • +1
        • @m9:

Answers to me were also not very clear and specific. Often answering a technical question YES is just not detailed enough and too vague. So many wrong answers here and there.

  • +1

Wait does this device have NFC? If not, no Android Pay a be a bit of a deal breaker these days.

    • No nfc for this one.

    • +2

I agree. I just placed an order yesterday (flash sale) with gearbest for the Xiaomi Mi5s Plus 4Gb 64Gb Snapdragon 821 for $385.
Has NFC and a larger 5.7 inch display. Not the latest Mi phone and not the latest android version. Upgrading fron a Redmi Note 3.

  • +4
    • anyone know that one from joybuy.com will have any issue with google play?

    • Anyone has experience with this seller? Trustworthy/delivery speed/payment protection?

      • +1

JD (now known as Joybuy) is actually a banned store on Ozbargain due to sockpuppeting. Both the previous website and the current website are in the red - hence no deals are posted.

Sockpuppeting is shady business. Whether this extends to how the whole business operates is for you to determine. I have bought a couple of things from JD in the past and had no problems but it is up to you whether you trust them with a $300 purchase.

  • I'm thinkning about buying this. Howewver, when I go through cash rewards it is showing up as $363.43?

    • oh… price up, US$282.99 now…

    • It still shows me AU$346.73

  • +1

A great phone. What stopped me from buying it is the complete lack of replacement batteries for the Z2 Pro.

After a year or 18 months, when the battery is getting old you are going to have to replace the whole phone.

  • Deal over price is $282.99USD

  • Is this a worthy replacement of the trusty old Nexus 5? Also would the camera be marginally better than the Nexus 5?

  • Great deal. I wonder how much Zuk stock is left these days.

  • How accurate is the UV Sensor?

  • How's the camera compare to the Xiaomi Mi5 camera?

  • Is this a global ROM installed? OTA possible?

    • I doubt it

      • Yeah I thought so too.

  • Unfortunately no NFC :(… Ive gotten used to Android pay

  • +1

Deal is still on. Bought on. Thank you Original Poster.

    • Thanks mate

  • -2

Of course no band 28. Oh well… NEXT!!
    And thanks anyway

    • +2

Only 1 Post since 2010. Oh well… NEXT!!

And thanks anyway for that one post

  • Deal is off but you can now use "LZUKZ2" to get it for $263.99 USD :)

    • it is still available

      • Ohh okay I was using the wrong link, maybe update the post to accomodate for the coupon :)

  • Deal is still on and I do not see any need to use a coupon. But that is just me.
