If you have the entertainment book, u can probably get a further $10 off with coupon if you buy it store.

    • Just used all three of my coupons for this year !!
One of the downsides of a digital membership … can't get any more coupons by swapping :(

      • Exactly what I was going to post. I got this after getting frustrated with inconsistent readings from forehead and ear thermometers. It's now my go to thermometer.

However, after a couple of kids I find a hand on the forehead is about all that's necessary. The thermometer only comes out if it feels very hot..40+

      • Buy on ebay for $1

Yes good luck to you trying to get that under the armpit or in the mouth of a baby/toddler for a consistent minute. We recently bought this https://www.chemistwarehouse.com.au/buy/55555/Braun-ThermoSc… from Chemist Warehouse (no toy, it had a storage bag instead, for $90). We find it highly accurate, and very quick for both our kids, who, during a fever, are angry little devils who will not let you near them for long when their temperature is nearing 40 degrees. I am not a medical professional and cant vouch for the accuracy of these without doing a comparison with multiple thermometers, but it does enough of a job to let me know if their temperature is getting to 39 degrees or more, which is enough for me to know what to do next.

        • Got the same one! Love it.

    Please avoid. See reviews https://www.productreview.com.au/p/braun-no-touch-forehead-n….

I bought one myself and have returned next day. Still waiting for a manufacturer's assessment to get my refund.

  • This is a hot deal.

    • only if it "read" correctly…

Forehead thermometers aren't very accurate, I'm old skool and only use rectal.

    • alas we all don't have highly calibrated fingers :-(

    • I learned my lesson after I forgot to label my rectal and oral thermometers.

      • This is a fetish for some people … just sayin'

        • Talking from experience, or just general knowledge?

    • Also better for administering cocaine, rather than snorting.

For accuracy, get an ear thermometer.

  • Recently, we bought a very similar product for out little one ( Vick brand I think ). And it was/is still very inaccurate, can't return/refund it, I dont it should be allow to sell at all. The inaccuracy of these products are very dangerous to a child who already has high tempt … but business is business ….

same here. not worth it. When our baby was having high temperature, there was a difference of 1-1.5 degrees compared to the standard thermometer.

the funny thing is we took 5 consecutive readings with the forehead thermometer and the temperature was always different (up to .5 degrees)

  • +4

Anyone saying to just buy a standard thermometer has obviously never tried to take the temperature of a toddler. "Please sit still for 1 minute or so whilst I put this device in your armpit/mouth etc"

Duct tape and cable ties, let's see them move then.

    • Meh - if they're still moving, they couldn't be that sick, could they?

      • +1

I think they can still move until rigor mortis sets in.

    • It's really not as hard as you make out.

It wasn't all that long ago that those standard thermometers were the only option.

    • These things aren't any easier. You have to point it at their forehead and they then need to keep their head still for it to get a reading. The one we have lights up blue to take the reading and the younger kids go "ooh what's that" and look up.

Apart from that I'll echo what others have said that these things are just plain inaccurate.

      • Go rectal, once you go rectal you'll never look back.

    • We did exactly what was instructed in the manual and he still move his head as much as the standard one

  • These things are notoriously inaccurate. Unless you have a baby, get an under the arm one, much better… and cheaper.

  • $80 for a thermometer!!

  • +1

Negging this as product seems to be littered with reviews confirming it is inaccurate. No deal.

The OP is misleading us, this one is in-ear not forehead scanning. It's pretty accurate and very close to in-mouth scanning, also forehead scanning cannot be trusted.

Currently having treatment for cancer. Thought I'd get a fancy thermometer. Paid around this from Amazon. Then got an under the tongue digital one free from the hospital. When you're having chemo you have to monitor your temp strictly and go to emergency if you have 38 or higher. Got 36 and a happy face from this Braun one, 38.5 from the 'cheap' model. Went to emergency and was admitted immediately for 4 days. My immunity system was shot. Cheaper thermometer read the same as the hospital ones, this Braun one was dangerous.

DO NOT BUY. I got a refund from Amazon.
