am I missing something - 3.1 kg is quite heavy?

    • +3

Definitely missing something. 3.1kg is light for its size unless you get some of the Samsonite ones for 3x the price then you can get one for under 3kg.

    • +3

i thought the same but its bigger than the others that have been posted, its not cabin luggage size.

    • Try American tourister applite 2.0. Ended up with the 82cm 3.2kg for $129 minus 5% with THANKYOU coupon code. It's a soft case but durable with sturdy wheels. Lots of other options here https://bagstogo.com.au/search.php?mode=search&page=1&keep_h…

  • when the say delivery is not free for big and bulky items, is a suitcase considered bulky?

    • +1

For some reason no as I got free shipping on it

I would be a bit careful about buying a hard case luggage. I bought hard cases in the past thinking that it is more safe (less likely for someone to break in and less likely for items to get damaged). However, my hard cases (all Antler) inevitably cracked. This often occurred when they were not filled to maximum. I assume this occurs when it caves in when a heavy load is placed on top.

Also note that the Antler 10 Year warrenty DOES NOT cover your luggage if it is damaged during transit because they say its the fault of the airline. Thus each time I was forced to claim damages from the airline. It happened once with Virgin and they replaced my bag. However, once it happened on Sri Lankan Airlines when I was travelling through asia and they never paid up but fortunately my travel insurance did. So the Antler warranty (and most luggage warranties) are useless.

I now use soft cases and never had an issue. IMHO soft cases are much more durable and forgiving. If you want to keep your items safe - get travel insurance.
