Yeah that's what I did in the end, however, 56 million have downloaded Realplayer from download.com so i can't be all bad.

This is not a deal. It's a trial of real player gold or whatever they call it.
Realplayer is a morally reprehensible abomination. As is said above one should always use realplayer alternative, quicktime alternative etc.. just thinking of those programs makes me want to puke… gah…. runs to bathroom
No deal is worth putting up with RealPlayer.
Real has been around since the early days because 'there's always one file' that needs it.
Ignore that file, or convert it. I deleted any RM files I had years ago. Its not even worth the alternative.
Let RealPlayer die for good.
I didnt even know Real Player was still around…. terrible program from years ago. I hated it then, I hate it now.
for those who don't know, it was one of the first programs to install addware/spyware/popups, was slow and buggy, so you have real player to thank for modern day addware which is embedded in many of todays apps.
