      Updated the title. :)

Compare the actual energy prices against other retailers. Best thing is switch, use the $100 and immediately switch back to another (better provider). At least in QLD click prices are ridiculously expensive even compared to Origin.

    • is there any fee associate with switching? meter reading fee ? exit fee? disconnection or re-connection fee?

    • +1

Most places have an exit fee and a connection fee, seemingly in the $50-100 range each. I've been rescraping the energymadeeasy government website and I could switch to a new provider, but it would take > 1 year in the savings to make up for the switching costs. By that stage another provider is likely to be cheaper.

Did you read the deal? You get $50 after one month and another $50 after 12 months. If you switch both power and gas this doubles. Hardly worth the effort.

Not only that but the first bill is an estimate as most meters are only read every three months so there will be a charge to read it early.

And for solar customers that make money you can only claim payment every twelve months.

  • I don't see how this is a deal given that it's likely that most people will end up paying more as opposed to shopping around for the best deal.

These promotions are only there to draw in people who can't or won't look at the real cost to them of changing over. I'm negging this deal so people look further into this before deciding to change.

Click Energy are often more expensive, their billing is atrocious and confusing and long waits on the phone are the norm if your read any of the forums like Whirlpool.

Click energy have heaps of bad feedback on the various forums, this is one such thread about issues in dealing with them - https://forums.whirlpool.net.au/archive/2160997

    • Use them to match discount with others.Use this voucher and off you go

      • They wont match as far i know for click and EA

  • What should i go for the good electricity and gas!
    I Live in western melbourne.

Try comparing Pacific Hydro for electricity and Lumo for Gas if that helps. I recently did the comparison and these were the 2 options that worked for us. I live in Melbourne Western Suburbs too.

    • Sometimes leaving your current company gets a good deal by the retention team. Lumo were happy to reduce the costs when I signed up at a different company - then put me on to the other company to cancel the move!
Research a cheaper company for your area, switch and see what happens or you could try calling up your current one and ask for a better price.

All these pay early discounts are designed to confuse/trick everyone and it is sometimes hard to compare and do the maths!

      goto -> https://compare.switchon.vic.gov.au/

Enter your details & preivous billi8g (upload your lecky smart meter data)
It'll tell you who to choose.

It reckoned that switching from Click -> Pacific Hydro for lecky would save me $500+/yr not too much of a decision.

      • Very happy with Pacific Hydro.

    • Thank you all i will try these

"To celebrate Click Energy joining amaysim,
we're keeping the party going for all"

yeah!! the party for Click's bottom line
and the "all" sweet fanny adams for consdupeables

  • Signed up on previous deal and probably used the referral link. They refused to honour FLASH promo code (with $100 credit) because

you signed up via Click Circle, you have received the Click Circle sign up rebate. This rebate includes $25.00 off of your first invoice and $25.00 off of your invoice in 12 months time. We are unable to apply two sign up rebates in conjunction with each other.

Wasted my time on email ping pong, they finally agreed to give $25 credit but that still does not add up to the $100.
Recap: I'd rather steer clear of them but if you decide to opt in, be careful not to use the referral link.

  • I agree this offer is bait and not a good deal.
