    Extention of this I guess..

    • -1

Looks like it though that one has expired.

      • +2

Yeah, that's why I said it's an extention.. and not a dupe.
I was just getting in before everyone called dupe.

        • no worries, thanks for pointing it out

  • Anyone got an expiry for this?

  • Its a great price but hate these type of DSE deals.
Problem is, normally when you go in store, they have no stock. Either just been bought/ lost/ demo unit.

  • FYI: http://buyersguide.macrumors.com/#MacBook_Pro

On top of that, iLife 2011 should be out real soon

    • There's still almost 200 days till the next update assuming that the update will be in April next year (apple seem to be more and more standard with their update times these days)

  • +3

You might also be able to use the coupon code "brodeal" for free delivery, which is valid until the 20/10/2010.

  • Walked into DSE Blacktown today (big one, not little one) and got the impression that this was a store-only promotion (sale started today, ends Sunday). Nice to see it's wider than that - might be able to salary sacrifice it.

Excellent! Was disappointed I missed out on the previous one. Now I can't decide between the current i5 or a refurb i7!

  • Great Deal!

Too bad that MBP is currently End of Life :(.

and MB Air is severly due for upgrade.

    • +1

I wonder if it will ever happen though… The MBA was sort of like the mission to the moon, where it cost a bomb, the output wasn't that beneficial but the R&D spinoffs implemented elsewhere contributed greatly to technology.

    • I agree MB Air is not a good buy, as it needs updating. However I don't think the MBP is EOL.

      Here are the recent releases

      Recent Releases
      ???
      4/2010 i5 and i7 models
      6/2009 2.8Ghz Intel C2D
      10/2008 2.5Ghz and 2.6Ghz
      2/2008 2.4Ghz, 2.5Ghz and 2.6Ghz
      6/2007 2.2, 2.4ghz

So even though Macrumors suggests they are nearing the end of their product cycle in the last 2 years, thus far, the MBPs have only been released once a year in first stage of the year. They calculate this on an average. Most apple cycles are 1 year. So I think you have 6-7 months left before an update.

When I bought my 17inch in 2009 I was sure that come January there would be another announcement as all the windows laptops had i5 and i7 processors.
However it didn't happen until the end of April.
No one knows for sure other than Apple management but there are no new improvements that we Apple are falling behind one(USB 3.0 hasn't been adopted by all companies and lightpeak isn't even ready). Also when you release too often then there are a lot of returns as there are too many bugs. So I believe apple, after the iPhone 4 issues, i5 issues with some MBPs, will beta test longer and release a little later and hence keep a year release.

      • The macrumours end of cycle is based off the 200 average days of update. But Apple are getting very regualr these days, so it'll probably be a full year.

  • I just called JB hifi and was asking if they can match the price offered by dse.
They said these are all older model on UPTO 15% off.
How much difference is in these older models and the newer models . i was thinking about getting a mac book pro 15 inch i5.

    • +1

I'm comparing the mbp 15" i5 and i7 sold on this dse deal with the one on the apple website and they appear to be the same models?:

    • IMHO, DSE is better in terms of return policy. I'll try David Jones next instead of JB, unless of course you live in a land far2x away from DSE/DJ. :)

    • +2

They told you that coz they didn't want to price match it for you.

    • +3

They lied to you. They're the latest model, only the latest one got i5/i7 processor

  • edit

  • Priced matached 27" at DJs no problem and got a HP wireless printer for $10! Nice one

  • Bought with my wish cards (5% discounted), ultimately paid $2090 for a 27" i5!

  • This is a good deal guys. I work at an apple reseller and this is below our cost by far

  • Picked up a MBP i7 from JB Doncaster this morning to replace my first release MBP. Apple Doncaster couldn't/wouldn't match the price only giving 10% off. DJs Doncaster didn't stock that model so I ventured into JBs who matched the price without battering an eyelid.
