$299 Olympus TG-Tracker Tough 4K Video Action Camera (Green) @ JB Hi-Fi

550
92403487534

Just got this in an email. Have had an eye on this for a while but the $400+ price tag has kept me at bay! feels like its within reach at this price. Still will have some convincing to do!

This is part of Father's Day deals for 2017.

    Waterproof, Shockproof, Crushproof, Freezeproof, Dustproof

    We'll see…

  • 92403487534

  • If it does 240fps well I'm set

    • It does, for 720p

      • Just saw it doesn't do 1080p at 120fps. No deal

I've been looking at the Drift 4K recently, and apparently that does.

@djrandy00: looking at options apart from IPhone SE so that's a start. Cheers mate

    lol its a generic code.

  • LOL email title says 'exclusive code' then includes a generic code!

  • Looks like a nice for what it is, a tough camera, 30 meters water proof to boot..
and tempting for the price, however…

    However isn't 4k more like 8,294,400 pixels?
Specs say the sensor only has 7.2 million "dots".
Also a bit of a downer that it can't record longer than 29 minutes / 4 GB. What about continuous loop recording?
No mention of ability to do video date/time stamp. You'd think it's obvious but even Sony action cameras can't do that.
You need a Chinese camera if you want hi-tech features like date/time stamp ( or GoPro).

    • The sony does date / time stamp, along with speed and a little gps track that shows where you are during the video. This all shows on playback with various style options. Well, that is the FDR-X3000, don't know about the others.

  • View angle from this action cam is not that impressive.

    • 210 degrees is pretty wide.

It is an odd angle and round curve makes it look funny.

        • you can change it to underwater mode to reduce the FOV/fisheye effect

        • I have this camera, and the extra wide angle comes in handy. You need to keep the subject in the middle to minimise distortion.

  • Still comes up as $499 when I click on the deal.
Worried about clicking on payment in case it charges me the full $499.
There is nowhere I can put in the code.

    • Code can be put at the final stage of the checkout. " adding the specified product to your shopping cart and entering the coupon code number in the box provided at checkout. Delivery only for online purchases."

  • Hmm stereo mics, 5 axis electronic image stabilisation, built in LED light and records a lot more data than the competition (GPS, Barometer, Temperature, Direction, Acceleration - kills the battery though). also comes with a nice handle stick too… very interesting and great value for money imo! I'd probably get it if I didn't already have a Sony FDR-X3000
