Anyone had a chance to use one of these bad boys? Hopefully roboguy does a deal on it, I don't need it 'til 2034

You just want more feet photos don't you ya perv!

    • +1

Yep, reviewed it on my site a few years ago. Killer device for the price.

      • hi @Darkscythe - can you tell me would it be worth paying the extra for the Xiaomi 2 ?

        • +1

The all metal one? Sound quality is a bit better and you get the micro SD card slot and Aux In. If you're only wanting a Bluetooth speaker, this is better value.

      • Link?

Excellent value for money. Had one exclusively for camping and was great until it went swimming.
Any chance of a deal on the xiaomi mi box 2 with micro SD slot?

You suggesting it is not a good Swimmer??

  • +1

    Doubles as an Arduino breadboard.

I have had the Xiaomi square box for over a year now, audio quality is mediocre with almost zero bass. Cannot compare it UE Boom 2 or any other similar portables. For the price it is an average speaker however the build quality is good.

    • +2

Perhaps it had more to do with your device's EQ than the speaker?

Mine pumps pretty hard for such a small speaker, with "enough" low-end to satisfy my bassy desires when I'm out and about.

    • +4

I don't think any speakers this thin (25mm) will have much bass. Good chance that it does well for its size. Also a Boom 2 is nearly ten times the price, you get what you pay for :D

    • -3

WHY YOU COMAPRE IT TO UE BOOM2? ARE THEY IN THE SAME PRICE RANGE?
AND WHAT DO YOU MEAN "ANY OTHER SIMILAR PORTABLES?"

      • +7

        Easy there, bigfella…

    • It's under $20.
Imo you'll buy a THOUSAND no name cheapie speakers in this price range before you stumble across ONE that is equally as good.

It's not going to replace a muteki for volume and bass but it's less than a street wise box at KFC lol

Buy it for what it is, not to outshine a $200 speaker.

In which dimension is this speaker a square?

    • +7

      4th

    • Parallax Error.

Try looking from the side? Yeah nah, still not a square.

  • It doesnt compare to a UQ Boom 2. I have the box 2 with micro sd card. It ok to have in the office playing background music or even pairing with my phone as part of a conference call.

  • Wow, the new Xbox is tiny!

  • I've had one for a couple of years now.
Battery lasts a bloody long time and sound quality is better than what you would expect at this price.
Biggest downfall is the connection, I usually work with it in my back pocket and phone in front pocket and it can sometimes stutter, however without a body in the way and phone in a back pocket, it's fine.
Don't expect it to be your main speaker though.

  • I've got the black one connected to an Echo Dot. Sounds tinny but what you'd expect for the price.

  • I went with the Anker premium. 20W Output from Two 10W Drivers, Dual Passive Radiators / Subwoofers for Bass, 8-hour Playtime, Found it to deliver great quality across most ranges.I got it last year and still going strong.

  • It only has Bluetooth 4.0, not 2.4GHz WiFi. Trust me, I've got one.

  • +1

You can pair your device to the speaker via Bluetooth 4.0 or 2.4GHz WiFi

Can't see any reference on 2.4Ghz Wifi from the link. This is just a Bluetooth device.

    • +1

I misread the frequency range. Fixed.

  • Any deal on the YI 4K+?

  • Expired, any chance of a new code OP?

Note that the grill looks nowhere as bad in real life as it does in the pictures. There are holes across the entire front of the device, but they generally fill with shadows fairly evenly, unlike the photos where the speaker cutout is plainly visible (you /can/ see it if you look for it IRL, but it's not an eyesore)
