Competitive pricing

B & H is the largest camera store in the world. They have fast shipping options, but do not offer the Australian 6 year warranty.

B & H $262.28 - $203.19 + $59.09 freight (DHL 4-7 business days)
B & H $339.38 $203.19 + $136.19 freight (3-5 business days UPS Saver)
ebay Delivery up to 11th September. Cannot be sure of factory authenticity.

Notes on overseas ebay sellers. Common to see advertising P-204SR, when only have access to old model (P-204S). Some listings show P-204SR in title, and then P-204S in pictures and other places. Most serial numbers from ebay will not match up with factory, when checked. This means the warranty will be return to China for them to repair and return. This is known to take months, but your mileage may vary

Great Price! I have the 6 section carbon one. The only downside is they are heavy for their size…

    • Thanks! Yes, this one is super-light, only weighs 1.3 Kgs. B&H list it as a top seller, and it is for us too.

    • same, i went for the 426SR, when closed it is shorter than the 204

      • Yes, it's a great product. But there is only around 12cm less when folded, but even at B&H's price, they still charge more than triple our deal for that, if you get semi-decent delivery! Not sure I'd spend $600+ for 12cm when I could get this for $188 delivered and sent same day.

        What does everybody else think?

  • Hi,

I can buy 2 ? the system will only allow me to add 1 per order

    • No, sorry. System limit of one per customer.

    Negging because lower prices elsewhere:-

    $288 - $100 code CHEAPERONEBAY = $188.00 Free Shipping

    $153.97 - 10% code PINCH = $138.57 Free Standard Shipping … 73.7% of OP's discount price.

Good find PJC, but I guess some customers may prefer the AU 6 year warranty and faster shipping. If OP could do the $188 price point on eBay that'd make it better.

      Invalid neg, because of below:

      Product is different

It appears that (by seller's own admission, if you read further down) they're bait advertising, then supplying the P-204S, which is the older model, as we indicate above is common practice with overseas ebay sellers.

      Not authorised seller

      • Look at their negative feedback
      • Conversely, we are the only authorised dealer in Australia for this product.

      Warranty is VERY different

      • No Australian 6 year warranty
      • Also it would be difficult to buy and learn later that your serial number does not match up with the factory, because this is what's checked in the event of a warranty claim

Delivery is different (by about a month)

      • ebay says it takes up to September 11. I buy things from China when appropriate, it's a bit hit and miss.
      • We ship today…from Sydney, that's a month's difference

      Overall

I wouldn't personally take a risk with all of the above factors to consider, then get the old model (seller specifically states you actually get the old model: P-204S), and then not get the official Australian warranty. Especially since it's 6 years.

But what does everybody else think of the neg, based on the above?

    • +2

you cant neg for items shipped from OS.

      • I wasn't aware of this, do you have further info on this please? Either way, given all the 'variations' that may transpire as a result of buying from an unauthorised seller, and that our price is pretty great, the question is how much money would make it worth it the risk(s)?

(oh, and that it's a different product)

        What does everyone else think?

      China ebay seller

      • Woeful delivery - has anyone ever seen such a terrible delivery time??
      • ebay seller is not authorised to sell this item
      • Not authorised to state it is genuine product unless they're an authorised dealer
      • Not licenced to sell into Australia
      • Another bulk seller with questionable product
      • No Australian Warranty
      • Not really in stock? Doesn't actually seem to have the item in stock, they'll sit on your (paid) order while someone manufactures something (authentic or not-so-authentic, who knows?)
      • ebay says 2 months waiting time - who wants to put up with all of this risk, then wait until 12 Oct?

      Selling Out Soon:

      • Sends yours TODAY if you order by 2pm!
      • Gives you free tracked delivery to any Australian address
      • GIves you the official 6 year Australian warranty, only from us
      • Save you $100 off our normal price, which was already discounted
      • Guaranteed genuine product - so the serial number you get matches the factory manifest

I feel that fair minded people will go for the authorised option, and save $100 getting official stock with six years Aussie warranty.

      What does everybody else think?

    • PJC, most electronic and photo items are cheap OS. You will have hard time negging deals because you can find it cheaper when shipped from china.

      • Exactly. But I think the further problem, as illustrated above is that they're often not doing real products, and then there are the obvious issues of warranty (if any) and delivery taking 2 months. Is that just strange to me….or does that make anyone else suspicious of the dubious unauthorised sellers?

I'd understand if there was a large price difference, I too buy cheap things from China sellers if it's not too much risk, because HDMI and USB cables don't matter that much. And mostly, there's no reason why it should cost Harvey Norman price when it should be $5 max. If it were in Australia for $5, I'd pay the money to get it now, and because the retailer has to make something fair, even if I can get it for $2 delivered from China. But and this is a big but, what about items that are manufactured to very refined standards and that support potentially expensive camera equipment? It's like buying a cheap motorbike helmet. Only worth it if you've got a cheap head.

    What does everyone else think?
    Based on…?

I love how the Reps answers start as a statement but end up as a backhanded question.

    • I think the reps question is about the validity of the neg vote. Not the price and quality of the monopod.

    • +2

In the world inside Store Rep OP's head, we are supposed to be grateful …

So maybe you'll win the battle for that last dollar, and I hope that makes you feel like a real winner at life, because in so doing, you are incentivising reps to cast their pearls elsewhere, … https://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=Matthew+7%3A6&v…

… despite our LOVE for OzBargain. Which means it is you who is making all the other OzBargainers lose. This is largely why I didn't do create any SOS deals on OzBargain for a year. https://www.ozbargain.com.au/comment/4915342/redir

… and if I find a cheaper deal and share it …

It's like being a suicide bomber, but without a reason.

… so perhaps I should ask the other swine whether they opine similarly.

  • I dont have any relationship with the REP, never purchased from them.

Sirui monopods have good reviews and I own one myselft (bought OS). It is a good price, i dont think it is fare to compare the price with items shipped from OS. But if you want to save and take the risk is fine, but not a reason to neg.

  • Just in time for me, Just placed an order will see when it gets delivered?

  • Just vouching for these guys, I bought a tripod from them in June, it came next day and I needed it urgently for a trip away. Sirui tripods are awesome too. I have Gitzo and Feisol and Manfrotto tripods too so a broad spectrum.
This is where I got mine from (I posted in that thread too)
    https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/315712

  • The Sirui stuff is pretty good, though not amazing - I've got a tripod of theirs and several heads, and haven't had any issues.

On the other hand, this is quite expensive for a monopod - lots of bells and whistles which IMHO are a bit of a waste. If you want a good value for money monopod, check out the Manfrotto options.

    • What's the Manfrotto equivalent?

      • 560b-1, but you cant remove the tri-legs like on this one.

        • I consider the tri-legs one of the unnecessary bells and whistles.
