Got the impression that some people were looking to buy this at a good price (under $300 AUD), so thought some may find this helpful.

Product Description :
Inspired by the classic designs of luxury watches, with cutting-edge technology, the Huawei Watch redefines what we’ve come to expect from a smartwatch. Developed as a statement piece rather than a smartphone for your wrist, it combines elegant craftsmanship with Android Wear to deliver a new high-end standard for the category. It’s smart, redefined.

Created using sophisticated materials like a scratch-resistant sapphire crystal, cold-forged stainless steel cases, and stainless steel bands, the Huawei Watch’s style is just as advanced as its functional features.

Featuring iOS and iPhone compatibility, a compact design, and the sharpest screen of any smartwatch in the market, the 400x400 display delivers notifications, music from your phone, and more than 4,000 apps you can personalize and explore without being tethered to your phone – keeping you connected rather than distracted.

With a variety of watch faces to choose from, it’s ready to pair with any ensemble or occasion. Whether you’re getting ready to walk down the aisle, hike up a mountain, or step into an important meeting, the Huawei Watch seamlessly fits any situation while tracking your movement with built-in heart rate monitoring and exercise pattern recognition.

Finally, there is a stylish smartwatch for smart, stylish people.

  • i have one,.it is good. but i do not suggest to buy it nowadays due to its lack of nfc.

    • What the battery life like?
      Why do you need NFC?

I got about 2 full days with mine. Depends on the amount of notifications, which watchface you use, and installed apps as well.

        • Cheers

          2 full days?

I have a very minimal black watch face and would not be confident it wouldn't be flat the next morning without a charge.

Also: Vibrations are really weak. Miss many notifications because you don't feel it. More likely to hear the vibration than feel it.

        • @krouton24: funny my huawei phone mate 8 also has weak vibration. Must all all huawei products

android pay which makes payment easier

        Why do you need NFC?

As ce5himm said, android pay to wave your watch and pay for stuff without the arduous task of taking out your wallet (or phone) and finding your credit card. If you bank doesn't support android pay, some banks directly support android wear but might not support android pay, such as Commonwealth Bank, ANZ are the only member of the "big 4" that support android pay for now.
How useful/handy this is depends on what's in your pockets (as in how crowded they are, not in the Bilbo Baggin's cheaty question) and potentially how douchey this becomes. Could potentially become the next bluetooth earpiece, or just an accepted part of society.

i heard paypal might support android pay soon, in that case any bank support paypal would be able to use android pay which is interesting.

  • Also android wear still does not have automatic sleep tracking!! Very disappointing and has made me go back to the gear s2.

  • Is there a better android wear watch at the moment around this price?

    • The one that got away :(
For people too lazy to click Asus Zenwatch 3 was south of $300, once, 3 months ago. No NFC, no HRM. Snapdragon 2100 CPU though.

Kickstarter isn't the same as a finished product. They might be second generation product, but you're not buying products on KS, you're just merely providing seed money for their VC and if they go bankrupt for all the right reasons, they owe you nothing. It doesn't even have NFC either.

        • Well, sure. It's still a good option though IMO (noting the lack of NFC) and pretty sharply priced.

        • @KevinL: It also uses a less efficient mediatek processor instead of the snapdragon

        • @KevinL: it is pretty well priced, but one needs to factor in the inherent risk in crowd funding and the fact that you're not likely to get the product until 4-5 months from now (closes Oct, ships 3 months after that) into the cost. Otherwise yes, it's not bad for $115 USD for the E variant, assuming you can still snag early bird pricing.

  • Hoping this watch will show up in the Telstra eBay store someday :D

I have the stainless model and it's pretty good.
I preferred the notifications prior to Android wear 2 update though.
I can't seem to get half my reminders to flash up now and I also miss that it used to stay on screen at bottom although I now have a habit to just flick up to see what's happening.

  • Had one.
Not so smart…..WhatsApp works not that well.
    Doesn't show pictures photos received.
    WeChat does show photo though.
    Line shows no photos.
    As others say, vibrate weak.
Hard to pair sometimes. Require reset all data to re pair with new phone

Battery one day only. Must recharge after one day for sure. Never last longer than 1.2days for me

Hard to pair sometimes. Require reset all data to re pair with new phone

Why are you listing as negatives for this watch Android Wear issues that are common to all Android Wear watches? Resetting to pair to a new phone is a security requirement.

  • I have both the silver SS version of this and the Asus Zenwatch 2. Both great but I like the size and fit of the Zenwatch more. The Huawei is more bulky. Also, the Asus seems to have better support for watch faces (which you can modify) through the Asus app. The Zenwatch 2 also had the Android Wear 2 firmware. The Huawei got it a few months back. Both can last 48 hours if you mainly use it during working hours.

Or consider Huawei Watch 2 for $328 shipped from Aussie seller with PTECH20 coupon
(Only 8 available if not I would have posted)

    • +1

Vendor feedback score is 84% - not worth the risk and seems many 'local' items are either refurbs sold as new or actually grey imports.

  • Wow these have really held their value well

  • I know right. I boxed mine back up after a few days to resell.

Looks like I might get close to purchase price.

  • any deals for Samsung gear 2 ?
