The Good Guys eBay: Breville BEC500XT Prodigio&Milk Pod Machine for $160.65 (ClickAndCollect) + $40 Cashback and $60 Pod Credit

PGUYS15

You can currently get the Breville BEC500XT Prodigio Capsule Machine which includes the milk frother for $160.65 from the GoodGuys eBay store using the 15% off discount code. (RRP is $399). I've had one of these (well, the DeLonghi version, but it's exactly the same other than the colour) for a while now, and it's been really good. Even has bluetooth (fairly pointless, but what the hey).

It's $120.65 after claiming the Nespresso cash back. Less cash rewards ($2.46) and the $60 coffee credit the effective cost of the machine for me will be $58.19 - At that price I decided to grab another one of these as a present!

The automatic ejection of used pods is excellent. I also find that after it ejects the pod, it does not drip from the spout (my old one, and a number of other ones I've tried, all seemed to drip and needed a cup to catch that). Only minor issue is the pod holder needs to be checked a little more regularly to empty used pods and water. Not a major ask to do though, so can live with that - generally do it when I top up the water tank.

  • Good price.

I have liked my Nespresso Pixie with its manual eject lever as I can do 2 or 3 short/long cycles before I eject the pod to make it a bit stronger (without using 2 pods per coffee). I wonder if I would regret upgrading to the smarter, auto-eject model..

    • You could always pick up the pod from the bin and put it through again…. but if you do that a lot, then yeah - you'd probably find it annoying.

      • It would pierce different holes and probably leak around the pod.

        • Ah what the - bought one - wont know till I give it a go!

  • I was thinking of it as well. But finally got the red citiz with milk in store.

  • I've had the citz n milk for a few years. Would this be an upgrade, downgrade or same same?

    • Same same

  • How loud are these? Will i wake up the whole house if I have one going at 3am?

  • Looks like a good little machine, thanks for the Sunday impulse purchase

    • Don't mention it - always happy to help other people to spend their money. Oh, it should also come with a collection of 16 'free' pods. ;-)

  • Anyone know if the frother has the cold function where instead of heating it up, it helps to make an iced coffee instead?

    • +1

Yep. Press the button and it goes red, heats/froths the milk. Takes about 60 seconds. Press and hold the button for a couple of seconds and it turns blue, and froths for about 60 seconds but doesn't heat the milk.

      • Oh, and the little spinny thing that does the frothing has a spring on it. Remove it (the spring) if you don't want it that frothy. I tend to leave it off for my 'flat white'.

  • This item is temporarily sold out

    • +1

It will magically go back in stock the day after the sale ends.

This listing was ended by the seller because there was an error in the listing.

Error = we forgot to raise the price by 12%.

  • Is this that Bluetooth one that used to go for $99 a year ago?

    • Basically. That was the DeLonghi I got (https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/282535). This is (was) a better deal at $160 less $100 cashback/credit making it effectively $60….

      • That's assuming you buy Nespresso's expensive pods that never go on special, and you have to order in quantities of 5 sleeves at a time. The only time I buy them is when there's a promo going on (AMEX CB + free sleeves a year ago), or I can snag a Welcome offer with a free gift.

        • Yep, but it's still better than the $99 after cashback given this was $120 after cashback and came with $60 credit ie for $21 you get $60 worth of coffee…. just saying. :-)

  • I picked up my new coffee machine on the way home from work today. Just processed the cashback + pods claim.

Was easy to find/set up the machine via Bluetooth in the Nespresso app.
In the app I named it Kevin. Kevin makes good coffee.

I did a test schedule of making a Decaf Lungo 5 mins later - and sure enough 5 mins later it make my coffee.
Cant see a way to schedule any water cycles (to top up) after the pod has ejected though.

    • Cool. I assume named Kevin after the lead actor (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kevin_McCarthy_(actor)) in the original Invasion of the Body Snatchers film that coined the term 'pod people'?

My claim was processed really quickly….. apparently I already have credit in my account, although I can't login at the moment as it keeps coming up with an exception error. Hmmm.

      • Hah you overthought that one.

My wife chose the name Kevin - I didnt ask why but am guessing after the Minion.

Although Coffemachine Kevin does roll off the tongue.

        • Kevin dutifully made my coffee on schedule at 6:10am while we were still in bed. Pity he can't deliver it to the bedroom!

I don't use the milk frother so was just a matter of pressing the Lungo button again to add more water and drop in a teaspoon of vanilla icecream.

The lady at Good Guys has one and thought the Bluetooth feature was a bit pointless since you still have to get up anyway - but having the machine turn on, heat up, and run the first cycle saves time standing around waiting.
Plus it forces you to get out of bed!
