How are these any different to the ones I can buy on AliExpress?

    • Out of interest what do you commonly use them for?

Can it be used with ITTT? (Eg, could I setup one to enable an IP Security system and another to disable it?)

      • Howdy Jonc!

When you say ITTT, do you mean IFTTT?

If so, then it sure can! Not sure about the IP security system - that may be up to your own ability - but as far as IFTTT integration goes, Its very common. Personally I use IFTTT/NFC for for food and liquid intake tracking, home automation (Music, lights, etc using IoT), Tracking work hours, WoL service, Prompting Spreadsheet logs and G-forms.

Love IFTTT, and NFC makes a great extension of its abilities.

    • If nothing else, they are a different price!
Personally, unless I have a need to program a specific URL, I just cut out the chips on my old bank cards and train the Tasker app on my Android phone to recognise them. That lets me trigger automotive mode on my phone when I'm in the car; or switch the lights and my electric blanket off when I get into bed; …. But free is the usual price of those chips (simply report your current ATM card as faulty if you need extras), so I haven't posted them as a bargain.

      • How do you get Tasker to recognise NFC? As far as I can tell you have to use a third party app like Trigger which requires writing to the NFC (which bank cards don't support)

Nevermind! Got it working with NFC For Tasker which doesn't require writing

      Howdy Nurries!

As with most differences between retailers and AliExpress - it does come down to quality. NFC is a somewhat fragile technology (re: inductive power from an antenna) and as a retailer we have to ensure the customer gets quality not just quantity. If your paying low price, expect your NFC tags to have a bad read, corrupt memory or only reliable for a few reads - not to say these ARE what you get on AliExpress, but its not prestige pricing when its comes to NFC; its performance.

Whilst I can't speak for the sellers on AliExpress, these tags are Midas Smartrac MIDAS tags - within the NFC community Smartrac is one of the most favoured suppliers available but your average joe cannot purchase them due to usual size order quantities. An quick illustration of this is to compare 'NFC tags' with 'Smartrac NFC tags' on AliExpress and you've notice theres a price jump.

      Hope this help!

      • Do yours take 4 weeks to arrive like ALiExpress or do you actually have them on hand to send from within Australia?

        • Haha, we're pretty on top of shipping (generally posted next day, or occasionally the same day if order the was made before 3) and yes we ship from within Australia. However I will note that the last month Auspost has lost more deliveries than 2016 in its entirety so all will be going out with priority stickers - if it takes more than a week, get in touch with [email protected] and we can take action straight away.

In true OzBargain style, didn't think I needed them, but ordered a set, and will now work out what I want to do with them!

    • I did the same… also happy to support a local company as the internet is making it really tough for locals to compete with local costs compared to overseas (wages, power, insurances, compulsory super..etc)… not sure were we are heading long term so I'm trying my best to help support as many local companies as I can…

Do I need them, like you probably not either, but happy to have a play around and see what I can come up with :-)

      • Howdy Jonc,

        We appreciate the support!

We're passionate about the technology here not just moving product. If you have any questions (no matter how banal) send them our way [[email protected]]

Have fun with the tags :)

  • If I had an order marked as fulfilled and got a shipped notice on the 23rd should I have received it by now? (Order #3369)
