Sennheiser PXC550, RRP $629.00, Now $398 with Free Freight @ Addicted to Audio

JB HiFi price matched as Addicted to Audio have a bricks & mortar store :D

Picked these up over the Sony MDX 1000x after trying them on and thought the control mechanism was appealing. Also you can disable the noise cancelling, unlike the QC35's. I was also kind of spooked by the MDX-1000x cracking headband issue.

Yes the specs on the MDX indicate a better sampling rate, but the difference was negligible after A/B testing. It's also hard to come by music beyond 44.1k sample rate (that I actually want to listen to).

Just a warning, I've tried to price match at the Melbourne CBD store before and they only price match with shops within the same post code.

I live near the Newtown one and told them that I was heading there on the way home.

I flew 6 times, 7-10 hours flights with these headphones and its worth every cent, NC is great, very comfy, the touch controls really handy, the battery capacity is incredible… and personally I love the design…

How? my JB Hifi refuses to price match MSY, they've even refused to price match Harvey Norman… They want want even bother for brick and mortar stores in the region (like Computer Alliance) on the grounds that the item is "too cheap", "is not Australian stock, or "they just can't". I ask for a better deal and the fact that they still don't bring the price to within $50 - $100+ of the price I can get it for elsewhere has meant they've lost me as a customer.

It think it depends on the store and the who you get on the day.

    • Jbhifi have no pr8ce matching policy. So it's up to them if they want to price match butt they don't owe it to you.

Since they're $398 with free shipping why not just order them from AtA?

  • You can disable NC on the Bose now just FYI, also has two levels of NC.

  • how does this compare to the Bose QC35 guys? they are about $60 different in price thanks, looking to buy soon

    • I would get the qc35, the sennheisers will have better sound but you have to trade that for no off switch. You have to rely on the ear cup staying rotated to keep it off. If you don't always use the case this could be an issue. The case is also very low quality. You can't beat the Bose for comfort although these do get close.

    • Probably biased in my opinion because I just dropped nearly $400 on them, but the build quality is much better, the leather is much more supple, they were more comfortable and the controls system is great.

  • I love the PXC550! Got it in the Qantas frequent flyer points deal.
