New Telstra Prepaid+ Offer - Double The Data Quota + Use Your Recharge Value for Anything Else

103

Guess finally Telstra bring its pricing in line with the competitor.

Just reading from the Telstra Blog, that they double the data download quota for the prepaid+ offer.

Compare to Three/Voda and Optus, this is a great deal IMHO.

$30+ $200 150MB 30 Days
$40+ $300 300MB 30 Days
$60+ $500 600MB 30 Days
$100+ $1000 1GB 30 Days

Also notice that, while searching more data (Telstra website craps!) i found the company was saying that any Unused recharged credit get roll over next month (not sure what recharged credit)
http://blog.prepaidplans.com.au/2010/08/telstras-new-prepaid…

The good thing does not stop there, Telstra actually allow you to use your recharge amount for everything else (Telstra Service).
example:

$30+ can get you $170 + 150Mb on NextG Network + lots of Bigpond green sites (not counted) + up to $30 of other Telstra Service such as
Mobile foxtel ultimate at $18/month +
Extra Text or Call minutes or Pics or Overseas Call or Data…. )

I have not confirmed the Mobile Foxtel yet, but from the TV advertisement, i remember they said something about it.

So i believe this is a real good value for those using PrePaid compares to the competitor.

Comparing call rates, sucks that for the cap offer they increase!

    • Yes, but that makes it on similar call rates with 3/voda and optus. and i prefer more data anydays compare to cheaper call rate.

  • I might think about it if it is 60days.

    • Exactly! What is the point of 'prepaid' if it expires in 30 days?? Might as well join up for a post-paid contract, at least you'll have 'credit' 100% of the time.

      • Well, i guess most prepaid is for those who does not want to be locked into contract, also parents that does not want to be surprised by $1000 bill from their kids phone usage or business to keep the cost stable so on..

And yes, most cap plan is expired in 30 days, this one got rollover credit though.

Other providers have credit that lasts ONE YEAR.

Telstra is still at 30 days.

What a joke of a company it is.

    • Well, i think you get this all wrong?? Telstra also have the long last credit thing, but not a good value IMO. most other provider with Cap prepaid also need you to recharge every month or else losing your credit?

I will be interested to see your fact regarding prepaid cap 1 year offer? otherwise can you retract your negative?

    • optus prepaid only last 1 month, depending on the type of prepaid.

  • Telstra have moved to data charged by the mb rather than kb, unless you stay connected for long periods your data allowance will now run out a lot quicker than the 2X you have been given. I note they dont mention that on the official plan pages ;)

Where are you having this information??

      http://www.telstra.com.au/mobile/prepaid/callrates/browsing_…

Here it is saying it charge per kb?? with some ridiculous $2/Mb.

Effective 21 October (when the plans you mentioned are also effective), thats the problem with early info, it lacks the full picture. Mobile broadband users have already been given the heads up on the change: http://telstra.com.au/latest_offers/prepaid-mobile-broadband…

        • yeah i read that as well, download a couple k of email, get charged a MB, (bargain) apparently brings them into line with other wireless providers but i still think its a scam.

dodgy telstra… the only reason people go with them is cause they are too xxxx to go looking and finding a better deal.

          dont believe the hype…

Ok i gotta admit i did go telstra wireless went i went around australia for the better coverage. so your typically paying a premium for the coverage area.

          • @wisc: Correct me if i am wrong, Typically, new smartphones is connected to data all the time, am i wrong?? unless you got drop off the network, your phone is connected all the time, thus if you download 5 K of email, shut the browser down and 1 hour later you update your facebook, you will still be in 1 session. the only time you got scammed is when you switched off your phone or outside coverage.. and again that is where Telstra actually good at. so you will be better off using Telstra than other provider???

Who still connect and disconnect when using mobile phone anyway?? i think it is a scam that mobile phone provider do that, but if you said it is in line with other provider, then it is still a bargain IMO (you just dont have option dont you?)

            • @antzz: the issue with dongles is mostly to do with USB sticks which most people use to browse the internet I believe…

    30 days credit..wtf.

Go and sign up for iphone contract $49 cap. If you have another Telstra service it gets reduced to $39 p/m and includes $400 and 500mb data.

Only bad thing is your locked in for 24months, but its not THAT long and its a better deal than spending $30 on prepaid per month!! I am lucky to use even $30 credit a month, but considering the whole plan is about $1000 at the end of the term and includes an iphone i see it as a good deal.

    • I believe you have to have a Telstra 'bundle' to get the $10 per month discount on the mobile, not just any Telstra service.

    • Well, in my case, i cant sign on 24 month at the moment, but again, i can use mobile foxtel on $30 but you will need $39+ $18?? hows that for value?? Also, i dont have to worry if i want to dump Telstra next month if something else come cheaper.

    • Telstra are also offering a $200 welcome credit for new customers and customers transferring from another carrier. This is on top of the other benefits you just mentioned.

  • rollover recharged credit maximum is $30 for a $30 recharge (say my credit was $0); you were given extra 170 bonus credit after $30 recharge, will they start using the $170 bonus credit first or the $30 recharged credit. I reckon if they use the recharge credit first you will have those bonus credit leftover which you cannot rollover for the next month. :) hope this is making sense. So bonus or recharge credit will they charging initially?

telstras rates are extortionate and still blow. where is any comparison to prove this is competitive?

  • About time they started offering some mobile value. The free sites included now are good value.

Wish they would stop using o/seas csa's!! Damn… cant speak or understand english, poor phone lines and almost zero product knowlege. Where is the company saving in that setup???
