Correcting my comment, the other deal was for a different model, sunbeam brand.
I've had this model for about 8 or maybe 10 months. I've never had one before so I can't compare it to higher end machines but it vacuum seals my meat every time so I guess that means it's okay. If your meat is a little wet/bloody or your sealing something in marinade you need to be quick on the "seal" trigger because if the bag gets wet it has trouble sealing. I also sometime I have to double seal the bags because of creases, but this may also be a general problem with all machines.
Anyway, if you sous vide these are pretty essential, I've never once regretted getting one. Also, I've never had a single leak while cooking anything that was sealed in this machine.
Have you checked kmart for the prices?
Anyone know if this is nationwide? Any comments on quality of this vac sealer?
