D-Link Dual Band Wireless AC1750 Gigabit Cloud ADSL2+ Modem Router - Black - $80.95 Delivered (Was $205.70) @ Data Depot

80

Hi All,

We've just dropped the price again on these, which we need to move the remaining stock before end of month.

$74 + $6.95 flat rate shipping (or free shipping if you spend more than $150).
Hurry, not many left and once our current stock goes we'll put them back to RRP.

Same price as MSY had last month and cheaper than the price Harvey Norman had in June.
The next cheapest price I could find from a legit seller is $176.60 on Device Deal, so it's definitely an "OZ Bargain":

We buy direct from D-Link so all Australian warranties will be honoured.

Flat rate shipping will be $6.95 Australia wide, but it's free for orders over $150… all the more reason to buy 2!
No limit per customer.

Special price only available until 31st August 2017, or until stock runs out.

Yeah sorry, fixed it now. Cheers.

  • these can be used just as a router without the modem?

    • Ofcourse it can. You should be able to turn off the modem function if you want.

    • "- NBN/UFB Ready (Configurable LAN/WAN port)"
I'm guessing you can use one of the LAN ports as a WAN uplink.

  • Thanks OP, got one. Cheers!

  • Damn, id have gone for it if it had offered VPN. Seems a good price tho.

    • what's the diff between the vpn that you subs yearly … vs vpn setting on modem ?

i don't even know what am i talking about. Hah!

      • +2

there is VPN and VPN passthrough for routers.

VPN passthrough is where you would configure the router to point to another VPN service (the ones you pay for, that you are thinking) - so that traffic travels through your router onto the VPN service.

VPN (client) is where you can configure the router as a VPN service, so that external devices outside of your network can VPN (tunnel their traffic) through your own "private" network - therefore acting as if you are connected locally and can access your LAN.

  • This model is DSL-2890AL. That wasn't listed in the description.

And if any one is thinking, no it's not NBN FTTN compatible as in doesn't have an integrated VDSL2 modem.

    • Yeah it is only FTTN incompatible, however for people with FTTP, this works and I am using this at home.

      Whirlpool forums link

      • This is not directly FTTN compatible as it lacks a VDSL2 modem, it only has an ADSL2+ modem which won't work on NBN FTTN. Maybe you mean it's only FTTP compatible.

  • Does the modem/router D-Link DSL-2890AL have VLAN Tagging feature?
Some NBN RSPs require this feature.

    • I've looked up the D-Link DSL-2890AL specifications and the user manual and no where does it mention that it supports VLAN Tagging. So i'd have to say no it has no VLAN tagging feature. Imagine claiming it to be NBN Ready and yet not even having support for tagging. The whole user manual does not have a result for the word tagging. I don't think it fully is NBN ready.

  • How is this compared to the linksys EA6900 in wed deal?

    • +1

I'd reckon the Linksys EA6900 is probably better if you don't need it for as an ADSL2+ modem, as it's an AC1900 vs this one which is AC1750. And also it has its own WAN port so it doesn't require the use of one of the 4 LAN ports for NBN unlike this D-Link DSL-2890AL which has no WAN port. But also note the Linksys EA6900 is a wireless router only, but it would be all good for NBN FTTP.

  • OP - Would this work for HFC NBN connections?

    • I would like to know this also, as I will be on HFC as well.
Like I said before, some RSPs need VLAN Tagging, and this does seem to have that as stated above.

      • It's too late now any how as it's sold out.

    • For future reference - i have this modem/router and am using it on my HFC NBN connection. One of the LAN ports can be reconfigured as a WAN port.

  • All gone

  • tried to get two, but missed out, got the last one tho :) thanks OP

  • Sold out.

    • In less than 1 hour…geez…

      • A lot of the times with deals you've got to be real quick.
