I've seen them sell for well, well beyond 200 bucks. Some 400+.

I bought 2, 1 to build, one to keep for my boys.

    • +2

      Broden is on the way

      • yeah i tossed up wether to say that. No doubt the lego buy swap sell fb group subscriptions are rising at an alarming rate, heck, they're already full of flippers. Almost as bad as VW Kombi groups

        • Ozbargainers NEVER feed flippers! Flip them the bird !

    • This is by far the coolest Lego set I have ever seen.

      Now to build a crawler-transporter…

Bought 2 to save on shipping :D

Should of bought from lepin on aliexpress

  • This is awesome, two of my favourite companies.

    • +2

      LEGO and…(is NASA a company?)?

      • +8

        Thats not a company…………thats a Space Agency………….

        • +1

          It's American so somehow it's a company/business.

  • +9

    OzRRP..

It is a popular set sure, but it is also a new set that will be seen in greater numbers at retail (ie myer, david jones, bigW)and probably discounted later on..

Jumping on the hype train for the latest lego set is why scalpers can flip them so easily..

    • Possibly, but I'm not sure. There is very strong demand for this set.

I went with the Lego Carousel to push it above $200 and save on postage. ;-)

    • +1

      Highly unlikely.

Lego Ideas sets are usually far more limited in their runs.

      • +1

That may be true for some sets, but things like the original Ghost Busters Car had quite a long run.

Lego is a business. Would they really leave money on the table by ending a popular set early.. I wouldn't think so.

        • +2

Sometimes businesses aren't run that well

          Ref. Nintendo NES mini

    On backorder now.

You'd want it to be pretty cool for a $170 cylinder.

I'll make you an apollo Saturn v out of toilet rolls for $10pp

In the context of Lego, this is one of the best valued sets Lego has produced for a long while.

      • yeah - it's a BFR

        I am guessing $1500-$1600

  • Although you will be charged in AUD, your credit card processing bank may assess a transaction fee based on the fact that Lego A/S is a foreign vendor. Please consult your credit card issuer for details

    Stopped here

    • +2

They probably just mean that your Aussie bank will charge a foreign transaction fee, not that the Lego shop will. Can be avoided by using a fee-free card such as 28 Degrees etc.

    Earth is flat guys

    • I heard this thing was designed by Kubrick, brick by brick.

  • +2

damn u lego. I just bought Saturn V at RRP . AT RRP PEOPLE!!!! This is a guy who only buys bose qc35's for $250. They are learning from Nintendo here.
Release low quantities in drabs and then stop making. creating fear. make the mass by asap.

Meh who cares. I am going to love building this.

    • -1

If you hate Lego, buy lepin from Aliexpress .. save some moeny dude

  • -1

Great set but these will be in stores in great quantity in the next few months if you can wait. Probably at a discount on sale too. If you want it now you can back order from Lego

Remember- every store will have access to and can stock this set. It will be in plentiful stock after this initial hype dies down

    • Are you sure about that cause I just spent $400 on lego at full price. Damn ozbargain, I've spent nearly $10k after joining this year.

    • What is this claim based on?

      • cyrax83 is well known for his baseless opinions.
Given his comment on whirlpool around the same time, he's dissuading ozbargainers until he can secure his order.

        • Lol No wonder he never upvoted my posts but he always got something from these posts.

        • -1

          @rartelif:

I knew they were in stock at Lego before I posted here sherlock. I haven't ordered myself despite getting a second buyer as I've decided to wait.

    • the lego ideas are in limited quantities and will not go below RRP. if it's in stock i would not risk waiting for a small discount which will probally never come

Sorry what's good about this, just a tower? I can understand if taj mahal but this? Just repetitive shape.

    • +2

Sorry what's good about this, just a tower?

      It's a rocket.

      • +4

        Just a tower!? A rocket!?

This is only the greatest, furthest ranging manned vehicle in history. A marvel of engineering, the pride of the free world, the culmination of billions of minds working to advance science throughout the ages, and hope that when we've exhausted the resources of this rock we might step off it on course for a new world, just as our ancestors who crossed the seas.

Geez! Don't they teach knowledge in schools any more!?

    • The Taj Mahal set is also a "repetitive shape" too.

Also, not all people like to put an object which resembled a giant tombstone at home.

    • +2

It's just a tower in the same way the Taj Mahal is just an onion dome.

    • As well as as being "a rocket" it's a symbol of a more adventurous time as well as being a reminder of a fire breathing monster the likes of which will never be seen again……….lump it in with the glorious follies called Clippers, Concorde and Flying Boats.

If only it somehow came with the sound of it blasting off!

Would I buy this model, no, but it is never "just a".

      Harrumph!

  • Will this Lego set actually get to the moon? ;)

    • +1

Sure why not, a C64 did.

  • +1

RRP is not a bargain. Wait a few months until the hype is over and it won't be hard to pick one up for $120.

    • Just like the Technic Porsche yeah?

      • +2

Well yeah, that's a good example. The Technic Porsche has been on sale dozens of times over the past few months.

      • +1

Exactly… You could get it for as low as $305 two weeks ago.

I'll never understand why anyone regularly pays RRP for Lego sets when there's always a new sale every other week.

      • +1

Not the same thing. Technic kits are always readily available and for good periods of time. This is a lego ideas set.

    • +3

Lego Ideas sets aren't made in high volume and for long periods like Technic and other sets.

This became super popular after Adam Savage did a build on his YouTube channel.

  • +1

    Lepin?

  • +1

I bought 2 earlier in the evening before this deal was posted and it had an estimated date of 5th September. Since its been OzBargained that date has blown out to the 11th of September.

I saw one advertised on gumtree for $200 so I messaged the guy to see if it was still available and then he went on to say that he received an offer for $230 and if I was willing to bid against it. I told him "he's dreaming". Moral of the story is that there is plenty of demand still out there for this set.

Also, good luck to the guy that will make the 1% of profits on all the units sold as it was created through Lego ideas.

    • Also, good luck to the guy that will make the 1% of profits on all the units sold as it was created through Lego ideas.

-Gee I built this in 1969 and showed it off at school, complete with lander and stages.
(all mainly square blocks back then) still have them.
      I should get 0.5% profits :)

Got mine 2 months ago via Amazon US thru mail forwarding, the shipping killed me. ended up costing like USD 270 … anyway… i'm keeping it for my kids for him to open during school holidays! His happiness should hopefully be priceless… for everything else, there's MasterCard.

  • +2

For anyone interested, shipping is $35, this kit which fits the theme nicely is $40 and then you'll be over $200 so shipping will be free. I think it's an extra $5 well spent and it's what i did.

For my point of view, I bought this set from a local small retailer last month for $170, which actually was helped by my friend (he bought 2), they sold within 2 hours time. Compare to that, now you would get a free gift plus VIP points, which is slightly better deal.

42056 Porsche actually was not sold out when it was released last year, becuase everybody wanted to get discounted price like 399 at TARGET OR BIGW, so no one was buying at RRP, plus RRP in Europe is much cheaper comparing to Australia, so there was lots of chance to purchase from different ways. However This Nasa Apolo set is almost sold out worldwide, it is seldom to see any non retired set being OOT status over past 2 month time. Australia RRP could be the cheapest comparing to other country. Also some Lego Idea set has really short life shell, example 21305 The Maze, which was introduced early last year but retired at the end of last year. You never know how long the Nasa Apolo will be in the market.

At LEGO.COM, Nasa Apolo has 195 reviews for almost overall 5 within 3 months since releasing date compare to Porsche 99 reviews overall 4.7 during one year. I believe Nasa Apolo is one of the most welcomed and popular set at the moment.

Anyway, this is the first ever non retired set bought at RRP from my 5 year Lego collecting life .

    • The Porsche and Saturn V cannot be compared in terms of popularity/reviews. One has an RRP of $500 and appeals to a niche market while the other is two-thirds cheaper and has a greater audience (plenty of non-Lego fans also buying it).

The FOMO with this set is palpable.

:) this and the yet to be confirmed UCS Millennium Falcon

    http://www.theforce.net/story/front/LEGO_Star_Wars_UCS_Mille…

  • Got mine from Chadstone Lego in Melbourne. It was out of stock everywhere else, so was pretty surprised to see 6 of them on the shelf.
Really good set, well designed and looks great.

    • Was this today? I wanted to call the store but can't find a number.

  • -1

This looks cool, but not paying RRP.
Waiting for LEGO Mindstorms to fall under $300.

Just my opinion, please don't neg!

    • -1

Their is super cheap "lego" on aliexpress, thats what i use, i save so much money

    • this one will not go below RRP. the creator sets are always limited

  • -5

Save yourself $100 and buy from Lepin on Aliexpress , don't listen to these lego sheeps

    • How's the quality? Aren't they inferior?
      The design is the same?

      • Very similar, the only issues I have seen are the colouring of some pieces are slightly off i.e. a dark yellow would be a shade lighter etc.

Also some of the pieces are not always the same i.e. they will replace a piece with another piece that does the job this normally happens if a piece requires a new injection mould made but another piece would do the job, this is why their number of pieces don't always line up with the Lego ones.

      • Lepin's overall quality control is evidently poor, with sealed bags containing dirty parts, malformed parts, parts with weak clutch, and one large part was missing entirely. These flaws are relatively unheard of with LEGO.

        https://brickset.com/article/29578/review-lepin-super-star-d…

Not content with plagiarising official LEGO models, Chinese clone brand Lepin has started to rip-off AFOL modular building designs as well.

That's horrible. do you know how long it takes to design this stuff? Lego is a really good company worth supporting, that havent skimped on the quality and reliability of their products after all these years, and legitimately deserve the money. I'll happily pay 70$ more to get a real set over the knock off.

  • i got mine from the lego shop at dreamworld. they have a waiting list they can add you too. the only caviat is that you need to pick it up on the day they call you

  • Happy Father's Day to me…. just picked one up at the Lego discovery centre at Chaddy 😊

    • Were there many left?

      • I'll answer my own qs - 5 left at chaddy with 50 more to come next week.

        • Thanks for heading out there and checking hehe

        • I hifer, sorry for the late reply…I was with my 4 year old so didn't get much chance to look around and only remember seeing 2or 3 more boxes but they could have more in the back room

  • Checked this morning. Had a delivery date of mid October and now it's Out of Stock!!

    • Hope every AFOL has got one now.

      • Incredible, I don't recall seeing such a popular set before!!

        • That's what I've said and predicted. Never seen a Lego products being OOT for such a long time, the demand is huge.

  • A mate of them found them available on the toys r us website and by this morning they are out of stock.

    • Avail now, but shipping cost applies, I asked my local store and they said they don't have in stock yet.
