    I would pay the extra $16 for local warranty hands down 👍🏻

        EC has a fair point :p

      • If it was Amazon , that's a different story as they cover warranty and return shipping

        Good luck getting that service wth this mob 😌

          Fair call.

          I've bought 50+ of these, not one has needed to be sent back.

          :)

          @malouphix:

          You might be just the unlucky one 😬

          Saying that I have a Samsung 830 SSD and a Toshiba SSD from 2010 (I think) that are still going strong 😏😏

          However with mass production of SSDs, I expect that failure rate to be higher 🤔

          B&H are pretty good with fast shipping of items and are a reputable seller, but like you say, I wouldn't want to deal with the hassle of sorting out a warranty return with them - not for a $16 saving anyway. I'd have to be saving at least double that to take the risk.

          @dontpanic:

          Agreed, I only buy from overseas when it's minimum 40 -50 % savings compared to best local price

          Only then I'm willing to take the risk of item dying on me

          "Samsung SATA SSDs are by far the most reliable PC component we have ever sold at Puget Systems."

          But you're right, you could be the 0.18% with a failed drive.

        • @easternculture: >I expect that failure rate to be higher

          No need to expect anything, it is not a new device and there is a low failure rate. The warranty is a waste of money, eat the cost of replacing low cost parts if and when they fail rather than paying more for every item you buy.

        • @Diji1:

          I would agree with your statement if I was saving a few hundred bucks , but if $13 would save me from beating myself up if the drive had failed , then I see it as a wise and smart investment 👍🏻

          I remember paying $33 for 2 years of officeworks extended warranty on a printer. The printer failed a week before the extended warranty was due to expire. They ended up sending me a cheque for the printer price and got myself a free upgrade for a small investment 👍🏻

        • @easternculture: At times, I have different opinion for your comments, but I think here you have a very valid point and I won't personally buy internationally if it is for just couple of dollars more.

        • Does Amazon cover return shipping for Australian orders?

        • -1

          @icecream:

          Yes but only 1st year regardless of length of warranty

        • @easternculture:

          Great to know. Thanks

        • @dontpanic: so would you buy from them if it's a $32 saved? :)

        • @Izefyre: I'd be more inclined to take the warranty risk, yes. Especially since these drives are pretty reliable. But at $16 it's not really worth it.

        • The 1TB 850 Evo I bought from Amazon France last year has died, so it does happen. Not sure if Amazon will cover warranty yet, but the way forward seems to be email [email protected].

          @Hoges:

          They only cover 1st year

          You have a ask for it (refunded return shipping) and they honour it for you

        • @easternculture: thanks for the tip. I found an email address to contact them in English.

          Update: response within the hour offering refund or return. Thanks Amazon.

      Samsung SSD….. you won't need it.

      • What do you mean? I own one and its perfectly fine.

        • Yeah I think he means you wont need the warranty as they are astoundingly reliable.

        • @Tuba: Ah yeah probably not.

    $200.99 from here with code PINCH5

    • That is overseas - New Zealand.

      • I didn’t claim it’s local, just saying it’s not $16 cheaper than Ebay

        • -1

          👍🏻

        • I trust BHphoto more as he/she does not reply to any of my messages in the past. However, the saving from BHPhoto is not that great.

        • @Bargain Zombies: it will also be good for those who do not have fee free transction card. Also 1.3% cashback.

    • PINCH is the code expired?
      edit : PINCH5

      • I meant PINCH5, sorry

      • According to the details I've seen, PINCH5 is valid until the end of the year.

    good price, if only i needed it.
    i need QC35's

  • With storage I'd be more concerned with cost of data on that drive should it fail. Then you're talking thousands so be sure to keep a backup of anything you value.
