  I didn't know this hardware store still existed.

  Thought it's just bunnings taking over now….

  Prices are usually high enough at my local Mitre 10 that the $20 doesn't really equate to any real savings, sadly.

    This is definitely true on some items, but many things are comparable in price. Also, they often have things that Bunnings doesn't stock. Plus my local Mitre 10 store always has a lot of stuff out on trestle tables at bargain prices. I shop at both, depending on what I'm after.

        They have certainly sharpened their pencil in the last few years. The local one near me is actually cheaper on a fair few items than Bunnings.

        @JIMB0:

        Agree with this, my handyman father in law says Bunnings is a rip off, and he is better shopping at the independent for a lot of things. At the end of the day it depends what you get but Mitre 10 is quite comparable.
