  • Does this unit have the easy to replace battery?

  • +3

I can imagine Dyson Ebay getting a thousand requests to cancel orders now.

    • Why, this doesn't have a handstick wand or floor head so it's uses are more limited?

      • +1

I think our friend crazyperpman is referring to yesterdays "bargain" sell of the DC35 which has a much weaker motor…even if it does have extra accessories .

        • Yes but you can't use this as a handstick like you can the 35.

    • Nope

  • So this or DC35?

    • This

      • +1

Unless you intend on vacuuming the floor - then this isn't the choice.

        • +4

Ah true, didn't realise it was the handheld not the handstick.

I probably would still get this model for the V6 motor vs the V2 motor of the DC35, then add on the wand for around $50.

        • @unco:

add on the wand for around $50.

Do you have a link to the wand (and larger motorhead for floors?) for $50?

        • +5

If you are going to do that, then why not just get a V6 slim that can be had for around $250-260 in many previous post?

        • @unco:

Not much point as the head isn't really suitable for large areas of floor.

        • @kirt: Just picked up one from bondi junction as the online store was not working for me. neither their express delivery, I had a look with the sales person there and the motor is the same and the size of the handheld part as far as i could see side by side descriptions with one of the sticks there, original prices were similar too between stick and handheld 70$ difference dont remember.
So by the looks of it its better to grab this deal now and get the stick add on for further use but I wouldnt try cleaning carpets or floor with these , better get the ball dyson, on these the battery lasts 20' only

        • @unco: It won't work with the wand according to Dyson customer service. Or are they pulling our legs?

          https://www.productreview.com.au/qa/dyson-dc58-animal.html

        • @SeanSydney:
If it has the electrical connection and compatible connectors, it'll work.

        • Is there a cordless 2 in 1 model good at both floors and what this device is intended for.

I am in the market for a good 2 in 1 if one exists for convenience and storage sake.

If it is only specialised for one or the other and no multi use case scenario vacuum exists (cordless handheld for chair, bed everything and cordless stick floor somehow all in one) then I guess I will have to separate the specific purpose devices up and but multiple devices.

          Please advise.

        • @AlienC: Search for Dyson Handstick, it's like this handheld but can be used for floors too. You can then remove the tube to use it like the handstick.

  • So is this just a different name for the V6?

    • +1

This only has the same motor, the V6 has a slim motorised head for floors and a handstick wand.

  • This one doesn't come with the long stick accessories though.

    • Grab one off eBay for $50…

  • This isn't a hand stick, just the handheld. So if you want to vacuum your floors with ease - avoid this model.

  • Any hack to turn it into a stick? Spare parts?

    • +1

You may try this. (I am not too sure.)
      http://www.ebay.com/itm/For-Dyson-DC58-DC59-DC61-DC62-V6-Vac…
Or buy something similar from gumtree or 2ndhand.

    • +1

eBay have the wands for $49, problem is the head isn't designed for floors.

      • Guess it may still work for the this model as a stick.

        • Don't really see the point though.

The wand will work, but the head is really designed for small areas of carpet or for doing upholstery.

You'd need a V6 or similar head, and they aren't easily available and would be expensive (don't even think Dyson sell them).

  • +2

Note that this doesn't appear to come with a charging cradle/wall mount - can get them separately (eg https://www.amazon.com/Dyson-Handheld-Cleaner-Bracket-Dockin…), and I'd recommend it as it's a lot handier to hang them on the wall to charge….

  • Not free shipping unless paid with David Jones CC i think?

    • Free shipping applies for orders over $100

  • I got an old dc35. Are the accessories such as the crevice tool, wand and wall charger compatible?

    • 'Phoned Dyson.
Our DC35 Animal (V2 motor 200 watts) is 6 years old, battery nearly dead. Asked if the floor tools were compatible, they didn't know, and wouldn't guarantee compatibility. However the inlet to the bin looks identical…
$49 on eBay for a 2,200MAh to replace our dead 1,200MAh might be worth a crack…

      • wow $50 for 2200MAH, thats basicaly double or triple the cost of equivalent LIPO batteries used by RC planes and drones. How hard could it be to make an adapter and use that with this vacuum.

    • +1

i have both dc35 and v6. the accessories are compatible. wall charger and dock is not. it SEEMS like dc58 is based on the v6

      • +1

Yeah the DC58 is just a handheld version of the old DC59 (which was later renamed the V6 and they never changed the DC58's name).

The motorised attachments and the wand for the V6/DC58 are different to the DC35 and will NOT work.

        • any idea if DC59 will work with DC45 stick, charger, motorised head?

        • @watts:

No, the DC45 is an older older model which has a different charger and slightly different electrical fitting for the attachments.

    • The passive tools (crevice tool and combination accessory) will be cross compatible. All units include their own ones anyway so this isn't really important.

The motorised tools and wands have a slightly different electrical connection and are not cross compatible.

The chargers and docks are also different.

      • yes sorry i wasn't very clear. the non motorized stuff like dirt brushes and crevice tool are compatible. like DYEL said the electric tools are NOT. DC35 has no electric connections. the old air motorized brushes used to be powered by air suction so it was cross compatible but nowadays all the motorised brushes need the correct electric connectors.

    • The wall charger socket head is smaller and thinner in the DC58 than the old DC35 so incompatible; but otherwise all other parts are compatible.

  • can anybody tell me if the MYERS will price match?(called them no ans) i got some gift voucher from them

    • +1

      What's Myers?

    • Doubt.

    • +1

I just called Myer in Perth CBD and they said they would price match in store if DJs had stock…

  • +3

Guys, I just did Click Collect, paid $169.15…

    • +1

      That's pretty Tight, M8.

    • Price error.
      Anyway, I updated.
      Thanks for the information.

      • It's a good thing, even cheaper! (was ok to pay $199)

        • I guess it is a small price error. They will fix it soon.

    • +1

I got it for the same price. It says 15% off small appliances.

      • Mine is ready for pickup. It looks like they honoured the lower price.

    • How to get C&C $169.15? I clicked C&C online still shows $199?

      • At the time I purchased and a few others, it was $169.15 and this was deducted from my CC, looks like they removed the 15% off promotion.

  • You dont have to use c+c I am getting free express delivery also?

  • Good deal considering the motorised head is $55 and the battery $78 last I've checked on Dyson. Makes me think about selling my old DC34 for cheap and upgrade.

  • Oh no.. missed the $169 price! I was looking at the price and doing a livechat when the price changed to $199.

    • doing a livechat when the price changed to $199.

Serves you right for hanging at porn sites.

  • $199 no more $169

    • Yeah. I am getting $199 also :( boooooo!!!

  • WHAT !!?? How come?

    • Price error. They fix it.

      • DAMN!!!!!!! I was putting my credit card details..and they changed it!! WTF

  • yes they fixed it missed it by 5mins!

There is a spy from DJ who is always reading these deals.

  • +2

THere's cash reward ..i think its 7.2% cash back

  • +1

Combined with the Amex spend $40 get $15 back David Jones offer, it's $184.

  • out of stock online

    • Still have plenty in stores depending on which store/state you are looking for.

  • Crevice tool

    ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡° )

  • In stock for C&C. Bought one, thanks OP.

  • Bought one also, ended up paying $186. Wife is happy. For some reason delivery wasn't in stock but c&c worked. Hope these are good - kids make a massive mess and most of the time it's too much effort to pull out the old suited vac!

  • Can anyone confirm if I will be able to use the extension tube from DC44 in DC58?

  • From pass experience from DJ they will just refund you without explanation.

  • Great for picking up rabbit furs.

  • Says out of stock, from WA. Also, it doesn't mention express delivery benefit

    • Just went to Karrinyup (08) 9210 4600, two ladies showed me total 3 sets of DC58 (including the one for display). You can call them to reserve one for you at $199 for pick up.

  • I am not seeing free delivery.

    • This is father's day special service.

      • +1

I added the product to my shopping cart and at checkout delivery was listed as $10.

Edit: Now it is saying "Not available for Online Delivery."

        • The best way is to ring one store and find out if it or other stores from your states still have some left. Then ask the store which still has some left to reserve it for you. You can go there to pay and pick it up.

        • @save50:

I appreciate the advice but I shop online so I can avoid stores.

  • I managed to get in on a V6 absolute $424 with free express delivery

    • do you combine the american express card deal?

      • I wish I did!! I wasnt aware when I jumped onto it.

  • This model is two generations old. Why is Dyson still selling a product that has been superseded twice ? I have the one generation old v6 model and I find it very difficult to empty the chamber. I always need to find a knife or screwdriver to assist with empying the canister with fluff and hair always getting caught on the side of the chamber. It drives me and my partner nuts and is such a terrible design by Dyson.

  • Bought one C&C Sydney Market St. Used my work's rewards portal for 10% off giftcards. $180 FTW. Thanks OP

  • Trying to buy one and listed as out of stock. Painful because I'd purchased a couple of gift cards to buy this.. sigh :-(

Still listed at the $199 price online. Doesn't show as out of stock until you actually are in the checkout phase (so it lets you add it to your cart without any warnings..)
