It is not the same monitor.

The model of the monitor in the review is :ST2420
      This model: ST2420L

I dont know if the L is for LED :)

      • +1

Pretty sure it is the right one, they've just titled the review incorrectly.

Throughout the review he's referring to it as "ST2420L", plus it was only put up 5 days ago.
Only gave it 3/5 stars, but as someone said below, the reviewer was being a bit pedantic.

  • Awesome Deal!

    • +1

Agreed. Very nice deal for a Dell 24"

  • Best monitor deal since 9289's 24" BenQ for $199 delivered.

  • when i entered the 15% off code it removed the $100 cashback. Anyone else?

    • Yes, it removes the $100.

  • lol, good time to edit :-)

  • So can somebody advice which one is better? The U2311H is smaller but more expensive, so it's gotta be better right?

  • Good price, would have been even sweet if we could apply the 15% off.
3yr next day exchange warranty too!

"This Coupon offer cannot be combined with any other sale, promotion or coupon."

  • +2

The U2311H has better colour rendering and wider viewing angle. It is more pleasing to looked at on a daily basis while the LED model is more power efficient.

Wife would be so pissed if I bought a second dell 24'

    • +2

Wife would be so pissed if I upgraded from my 20" to a 24"

      • my wife wouldn't be pissed with that ;)

        • +1

Great! Now my wife wants one… :-P

    • but think about it, a second monitor is better than food for a week (while she is angry with you)

  • the stands on the ultrasharp range are brilliant. very tempting

    • -1

This stand (ST2420L) doesn't look that great. Only has tilt, no height adjustment, no pivot, no swivel. But as you say the Ultrasharp stands are brilliant, but this isn't an ultrasharp stand, unfortunately.

      • +1

He's probably referring to the second deal - Ultrasharp U2311H HD Monitor - $249

  • do they have online stock amounts?

    • Bought one :D
Been seeing these monitor deals and finding it very hard to resist. Full HD 24" Dell for $199, I cracked :p

But yeah anyone know if there's stock available?
Didn't think it should make a difference ordering on Ebay or their official site (I went with their site)

  • Anyone know what's going on with Dell ebay store? Zero products…..

    • Hm really? I saw this same deal on their Ebay store about 5 mins ago.

      • Can't be …. I still get '0 results found in all categories' @ dell_deals_australia

        • +2

          Ah, I think it's Dell_Australia.

  • just got one, thanks!

  • +3

Yep I got one. Was looking for a 24" LED and the best one we had our eye on was a Samsung for $375 - so this is a big price drop from that. The review I saw gives this Dell 3 out of 5, which isn't great, but the reasons for the lowish score are really trivial - not so good On Screen Display - that's used about once every 6 months, doesn't come with cables - big deal, we'll probably have a spare hanging around or can pick one up for $5, main thing is it has HDMI so shouldn't need any other cables really. It says it's not great for games or movies, but I have to suspect that that is being really picky - it should be just fine for games and movies - it's Full HD, LED afterall.

Sure it may not be as high specced as other models, but it's half the price.

  • What are those two 3.5mm jack inputs? For speaker and mic input?

    • probably audio passthrough

  • Dam, Wish it had component in and i would have grabbed one!

    • Plenty of Component -> VGA cables around.

      • Link(s) ?

      • Just because all the plugs fit, doesn't mean it will work. VGA-Component cables will only work if the monitor specifically supports a YPbPr signal.

The ST2420L does have an option to change the input color format via the menu, but I'm not sure whether this includes YPbPr (like in the U2311H). Perhaps someone with one of these monitors could check?

Also a good offer is the entry level 20" LCD for $109.65 shipped. Good for building cheap PCs for family.

Use coupon TGRNJGL2ZD48CF on the Dell(TM) S2009WFP 20 " Widescreen Flat Panel Monitor original price $129.

    • Was looking around for cheap LCD's prior to finding this and a lot of places only had 18.5" for $130+.

  • +2

I had a pending Order that I placed with Dell for ST2320L which is the 23" model.

I asked them to cancel the order and send me this model instead :)

    They agreed :)

    Thanks OP

    • +1

I did the same thing! ahah

    • +1

Hi did you order the ST2320L via ebay and changed the order later ?

I bought ST23 for the same price via ebay and now the dell order team is not sure if they can change the order or not.

If yes can you please tell me how you did it ?

      Thanks

      • hey asgr8,

im in the same situation as you are. i called up the number provided with the ebay invoice, although it looks like dell's issued one. they said mine is already shipped out and they couldnt do anything about it. im also wondering would it make a difference if i call dell directly?

        • If its already shipped, they can't change the order. You can return the product back and ask for a refund. I returned a Dell sound bar recently and they charged me $26 shipping fee.

          • @maxx: Why did you return the sound bar? Was it crap? I'm wondering if anyone knows if this 24" has a sound bar, i'm too tired to look it up, and if so if it's any good? I like the clean solution of a sound bar, especially as my gf has hdmi on her notebook which she'll be plugging into the monitor, so I don't really know how she's going to plug into external speakers.

Help! Just bought the 24" on a whim, but started to find some unfavourable reviews: http://www.pcmonitors.org/monitor-reviews/dell-st2320l
    http://forums.whirlpool.net.au/forum-replies.cfm?t=1546254#r…

Yeah that's for the 23", but I would imagine there isn't much difference between the two.
    What should I do =/

I was just under the impression that all Dell monitors were good, but I guess that only applies to the Ultrasharp range..

    • If you don't like it, you can always return it (return shipping fees applies).

I have a base model Dell 24" LCD that I bought 2 years ago for $199. It was a bargain then and it still is now. The model is now several years old, and doesn't have all the tech of the latest models, but it is still awesome. Oodles better than my previous 17" CRT monitor. 24" LCD are starting to come to around $250 as a standard price, but $199 models are few and far between. You've just bought an LED for that price. There's many reasons why LED is better than LCD, but the ones i'm interested in are the thinness, the lower electricity, and the general coolness of having the latest tech, whatever it happens to be. $199 and you can't go wrong. Keep it for a year or two and then upgrade to a Samsung 32" LED TV super high def for a couple of hundred. Also, in my mind this is a nice looking 24". Not the nicest, but certainly it's attractive, especially for a budget model. Some of the models out there would make an RTA office appear more dull, and that's a pretty difficult thing to do. So I don't think we're fussed if the monitor has some issues, it's not as if we've paid a fortune for it. We've paid a great price for a monitor that will at the very least be good, and more likely to be very good. I think some of these review sites give ratings that are applicable only for the extremely fussy. For most of us, the monitor will be just fine. And if it aint, we'll send it back - for $26 delivery that seems a fair deal to me.

      • Thanks for that.
Yeah I think you are right, the critics do exactly what their title suggests: critique the product!
So they're going to do anything in their power to find issues and make sure that they are known.

I'm sure I'll be happy, I haven't upgraded my monitor in years so it should be amazing :)

  • +1

Probably best to wait for it to arrive and then decide if you don't like it.

  • Apart from the size, would this monitor be better then the old Sammy SyncMaster 226BW?

    • Hey I have one of these……..

  • so only further discount is via moenybackco ?

also although sale ends Thursday do these offers usually sell out sooner never to return ?

  • At this price point the 24" TN panel appears to be competing against the Acer G245, AOC 2436V and for $13 more the BenQ G2420HD. None of those appear to be LED backlit although a BenQ G2420HDBL (for LED?) is available at $26 more locally (though no HDMI?).
So what are your thoughts when comparing this Dell with those brands?

  • 23" Ultrasharp model sounds good.
24 inch costs more than double.
I'm so tempted to get one but I gotta save it for holiday =S

  • Just commenting on an old thread here, but when I was looking at them I noticed the "UltraSharp" only had the 16.7M colours. Same as the non US. I've got an older model 24" US and it comes with over 1 Billion colours. I know we can't really tell the difference in those amounts, but mine certainly is way better than any 16.7M I've ever seen.

So not really sure what's going on with this 23" model. Is it really a US? what makes it so?

  • Does this price include delivery? I cannot find any shipping costs.

    • +1

      Freeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee mate.

    • free delivery + 3 years warranty~!!!

  • Hmmmm, received mine and realised it doesn't have vesa support for mounting >.<
I got a dual arm lcd mount stand….

    • When did you order yours? I ordered one last Friday and it hasn't been processed till now.

      • I got a call from Dell courier service today saying mine will be delivered on Thursday.

        Ordered last Friday

        • Thanks for that.

          • @ohsnap: Received mine today :o
Bloody impressed, considering I only ordered Friday.

Never bought from Dell before, but I must say they have left a good first impression :)

As for the monitor..I can see some of the complaints people have, but c'mon. It's a 24" HD LED monitor. For $199. Get over it :p

            • @fLaMePrO: Mine hasn't even been confirmed yet. They've not taken the money from my card either. Called them and they just said my order isn't in the warehouse.

I have no luck with Dell, the other time I ordered something they took 3-4 weeks to tell me they couldn't process my order.

            • @fLaMePrO: Hi, great you received it in such a short time. Are there any bright or dead pixels on it? What about the color quality? Will the color look like a little bit washed-out, just as some review says? I am thinking about buying one, but get hesitated by the review of ST2320L. Your feedback will be really helpful. Thanks.

              • +1

@melodyrain: Strange, offer is meant to expire on 21/10 but the price is back up to $299 :S

Can't see any dead pixels, but that's more of a 'luck of the draw' thing is it not? I don't know a whole lot about monitors, but I'm really liking it so far :)

I suppose it depends on your usage, and monitor history. I've moved up from a 19" Samsung (a few years old now), so this is definitely a significant upgrade for me.
I'm pleased with it, but yes I think I can see the complaint about the washed-out colour. Not enough to bother me though!
I play a lot of games, but apart from that, just general PC use - browsing etc. So really, I don't need anything super amazing in order to be impressed.

So while it might do the job for me, I'm not 100% sure I can say the same for you. Sorry if that was a bit useless :p

Ordered Friday - Received today (Tues). Like fLaMePrO said.. Pretty good value for the money. : )

  • aargh, it has been put back up to $299, must have of sold out or something. bloody dell.

  • +1

Thanks fLaMePrO, your feedback is really helpful and to the point. :) Sadly the price went back to 300. :( I think I will stick back to the Samsung 2443bw+.

  • Guys, go to Dell Australia store in ebay. It's still available for $199.

    http://cgi.ebay.com.au/Dell-ST2420L-Full-HD-Monitor-24-24-in…

Remember, if the price go up in dell.com.au, always check the product in Dell ebay store.

    • yeah but no 7% money back then :(

    • hey maxx, is the Dell Australia store in ebay run by Dell itself? Can I get receipt from them after buying things from them? Who should I contact if I receive faulty goods? Thank you.

      • Yes, it's the authorized Dell store on ebay. You get the same invoice as you get when you buy stuff from Dell.com.au.

For all warranty issues, just contact the dell customer service. You can get the numbers from dell site.

        • Great, thanks mate!

  • ordered 1 on tuesday, it got here wednesday, thats bloody quick and i live in country nsw. +1 to dell

  • got to say their sales people are pretty pathetic and must work on commission only.

I have called Dell 5 times today and twice on the online chat to buy the 23".

Each time they first ask what I want to buy and if its for a business.

Then they ask how many, when I say only one they say all sales people are busy right now and we will call you back in 10 mins.

No one has called back, and i have contacted them every hour!

    Freaking P!ss poor!

  • ebay price has been jacked up to $299

  • Yup, I've been chasing them for my order. I have called them twice, no help so far. Apparently, the stock is still not in the factory although some Ozbargainers have already received theirs. I ordered on last Friday and until now they still haven't processed my order.

    • was able to still get the 24" via their call centre…yeah they finally called back 10 mins and 6 hours later!

      • nice!

      • Still no luck for me. Still not processed and called again today, got transferred around 3 times. In the end, someone will apparently ring me back. Not impressed!

  • it's a nice monitor. looks great. bargain

  • I ordered one yesterday evening (Tuesday) and they called me today to say that it's going to get delivered tomorrow! That's fast. However, they did tell me that I was unable to buy online as they were running out of stock and said that you are only able to purchase the monitor through their chat system on over the phone. A friend of mine today had to wait 4 hours for a call back as he was initially told that the promo was over. They eventually got back to him and offered it to him for $199. He was told that there's only one person who works in the 'monitors' area. Her name is Elizabeth Anthony.

    • +2

      • yeah bagrin.

        • Hey Bargrin…..

Thanks for the lady's name an number. I rang her this arvo (Thur) at 14:30, and left a message with the receptionist.
Elizabeth called me back at 15:30, offered me the monitor at $199.00. I bought it over the phone using a credit card and I will get it next week.

Sweet deal. Thanks again Bargrin and all

  • Thanks Cobber….

  • Why is this 24" has the same resolution as the 23" Dell?

    • +3
