Nulon 5w-30 Euro Spec (VW.504 and VW.507 Approved) 10 Litres - $73 at Supercheap Auto

190

I'm always on the lookout for 5w-30 VW.504 approved oil as my Skoda has developed quite a thirst for it recently and came across this big fella at Supercheap.

10 litres for $73 - don't slip up and miss this one.

Presume it's nationwide but don't know how to confirm this.

Found it, right on first checkout screen under where you select your store.

Anyways to answer your question, there's always a specification for oil to meet. The difference in price is mainly because oil manufacturers tend to use different additives to meet the standard. This is primarily what leads to a difference in oil, assuming that the manufacturers all have the same warehouse efficiencies.
Mobil tend to use more premium additives because they can, but it doesn't the oil better because its using premium product. As long as it meets the specification at that viscosity then all oil is the same.
One way to see that is looking at the kinematic viscosity at 100degC and 40degC.

  • Does anyone know if this would be ok for a Golf Mk5 1.9tdi?

504/507 is DPF compatible, your car is old it might not even take advantage of this oil ;)

    • Your car manual (or google) should tell you what standard and spec oil you need for that engine - I believe the VW507 standard is for VAG diesel engines.

  • Ridiculous price, tempting but not sure how it's quality vs Liquimoly TopTec for an Audi V8 would go. Have used Nulon products previously in a tuned XR6 Turbo and it held up well.

  • For 5w-30 that's REALLY good!

Thanks OP will check it out.

  • Not sure if I should go with it for Peugeot, I've been using Castrol till now and pretty happy with it.

I've always bought 5L bottles in the past. Old oil goes into drain pan, new oil goes into engine, old oil goes into "new" bottle for disposal.
What do I do for disposal if I start buying 10L bottles instead?

try and get some used empty 5L's or 10L's from a local mechanic?

    • Just hold on to a couple of 3l Milk bottles.

  • Awesome price…. will get it for my Skoda. I used to buy 5 litres for that price.

    • hey mate , Will this suit a 1.4 TSI 110KW engine in Skoda Octavia

      • dont know… mine is 1.8 TSi 118KW. Better check your car manual.

  • Great price i use this in my 2.8 Cherokee and runs good

  • Hi Guys
Would it be ok for omega commodore? They recommend dexos 5w-30? cheers

  • Hey op, if your Skoda is using it up I would have thought that means the oil is too thin. Especially if you are running 5w30 in a warm climate.

  • For anyone looking at the MOBIL 1 FULL SYNTHETIC ESP FORMULA 5W30 5L DPF ENGINE OIL (VW 504/507 approved), it's only $82 at Autobarn. I got it for $58 when they had their 25% off sale last month.

    • but 10L Nulon 73$ vs 5L Mobil 1 82$

  • Is this possible to use with Toyota Prius 2007, I read some forums that they recommend 5w-30 for any brand will suit my car. I want to buy Mobil 1 but this one is so temping.

  • This is a great diesel engine oil. I use this in winter in my 4jx1 Jackaroo and can vouch that it is a high-quality long lasting oil.

  • They also have Valvoline $35 5ltr :) http://www.supercheapauto.com.au/Product/Valvoline-Synpower-…
